In this segment we'll take a look at a few of the top linebackers in the league who could potentially hit free agency this coming offseason. Potentially being the key word here. Some are young guys who still may have not hit their prime, and a few are some who could be riding into the sunset sometime in the near future. Either way, you may want to keep an eye peeled if any of these guys hit the open market.

ROLB: Clay Matthews - One of Green Bay's most feared defensive players ever, it's already been confirmed that Matthews won't be leaving anytime soon. Coach Red and crew will no doubt throw the barn at Matthews and include a couple cows for good measure. Matthews will most likely go down as one of the NFL's all-time greats at the linebacking position. And I don't see him in anything other than green and yellow at anytime during his playing career.

LOLB: Mathias Kiwanuka - Kiwanuka is an aging veteran in this league. However; this guy really re-established hisself in Chicago this year. With 9 sackes on the year, and 17 tackles for loss, Kiwanuka put up some pretty big numbers for the Bears. One wouldn't think it would take a lot, money wise, for the Bears to bring him back. But with some other big names and more glaring issues, Kiwanuka could find himself searching for a new home after this season.

ROLB: Nick Barnett - Another guy getting up there in age, Barnett is still producing in Buffalo these days. Barnett, who may not be as fast as he once was, still has some get-up and is still finding ways to be a bright spot on that Bills defense. Once a prime linebacker in Green Bay, Barnett's career stalled for a couple of years in Buffalo. However this year he's found a way to turn his numbers around and may have earned himself an extension with the Buffalo Bills. If not, his overall rating of 90 may attract some owners to take a risk on the vet.

MLB: David Harris - Harris is a young guy in the league who hasn't really reached his full capability yet. Under the wing of Bart Scott in New York, Harris is still trying to find his own identity in this league. With 53 tackles on the year, Harris may finally be coming into his own. And with Bart Scott also in the last year of his deal, it'll be interesting to see how much faith the Jets have in Harris. Do they resign them both? Do they only bring back one? Harris definitely has more upside than Scott, so keep an eye on the Jets and see how they handle this fickle situation.

MLB: Joe Mays - Playing behind a vaunting defensive line, Joe Mays' numbers may not reflect the product he is on the field. Of his 48 tackles this season, 8 of them have been for a loss. And playing in the New York Giant defense, behind guys with the names of Pierre-Paul and Tuck, those numbers aren't too bad. Mays is still a young gun in the league and has plenty of years to increase his stock. I don't think New York lets him go, but if so he could be a prized target in the free agent market.

Some Other Names to Watch: Kirk Morrison, Michael Boley, Akeem Ayers, Jovan Belcher, Bart Scott, Pat Angerer, DJ Williams, Rocky McIntosh

Green Bay is going to let Matthews walk and replace him with Manti Te'o and his fake dead girlfriend.
