Matthews is a stud, that Mutt won in the offseason.... didnt have anyone like him or Mccoy pop up this offseason..... maybe Casey Thomas that Lawdog got who looked silly on paper.... but Lawdog might redshirt him.....

    Position Name Redshirt
    WR Corey Nicholson Y
    G Tyler Thompson Y
    T Greg Greene Y
    G Tony Reynolds N
    DE Tim Curry Y
    ATH Ray Harris Y
    FB Anthony Harris Y
    CB Rob Mackey N
    OLB Terrence James Y
    FS Jeremry Reed? Y
    WR Rickey Allen N

Every freshman i recruited is being redshirted except Mackey, Reynolds and Allen......

I got a couple of Redshirt freshman would could see some action....
    HB Adam Grant
    OLB Jeff Jackson

both of these guys should see some playing time..... Jackson might start on the inside depending on preseason practice..... and Grant will return kicks and could get some reps at HB as i am not really feeling Senior HB max Millen or Junior HB Torrey Mack...

Sims(y), Foster, and copeland are the only ones i am looking to contribute right away. Harris who is 1 of my 2 5* recuits gets to play, because i need a backup and i like 4* Browning better as he has the same OVL and is faster so he gets RS for the future...
Watson And Goddard get to play, but only for backup roles..

My highest overall incoming Freshamn was Alex Thomas at an 83.....he was the #12 SS in the nation before the new recruits came in...not sure what number he ended up at.

I really like this that there are hidden gems, it really seems like the kids in this upcoming year there will be a lot of hidden gems. I am not targeting many 5 stars, but i am concentrating on the lower level high ceiling guys.

    Week 1 vs Iowa

Jerry Wright 3 or 4 catches for about 65 yards. Made a spectacular catch as time expired in the 1st half at the 30 yard line. He was then facemasked which set us up for a FG with :00 on the clock.

Paris Pierce had about 16 carries for 66 yards in a complimentary role to J. Mackovicka who ran for 150 yards.

Going with a RS FS Will Overstreet at SS. The style of Defense I play a good SS is vital, so we will see. He came in as a 3-star recruit last season but has great size and is the best option for the Ducks this season. The only other freshman that will get any serious PT is David Lawrence, who was the #1 RB recruit last season. Not sure if he can carry the load yet so he is going to start in a Complementary role to start off with, but is an 88 overall and will be challenging for a heisman at some point in his carrer.

started Redshirt Freshman Adam Grant last night... big mistake... he missed mulitple blocks and struggled to run the ball effectively.... needless to say, its back to the bnech for him... and Torrey Mack will start from here on out.....

CB Rob Mackey had a solid debut, started got a couple of breakups and 4 tackles ( i think) ....

Redshirt freshman MLB John Jackson had 9 tackles and was very solid in the middle of the defense.......

    Game 2:

Jerry Wright out for the year.....what a waste of talent. I will have to pull a redshirt off one of my Freshman now as i am down to 3 or 4 healthy WR's.

Paris Pierce maybe 20 yards on the ground

    Redshirts pulled off:

Week 2--The Maurice Taylor Era begins in Lincoln. I have had enough of Cody Green getting injured every game. I cant win user games when my QB keeps getting injured for series or complete games.

Week 3 --- I will be pulling the redshirt off of Dorsey or Brewer next week so that i have at least 4 or 5 healthy WR's.

    Week 2
CB Rob Mackey a ho- hum performance. made a few tackles... a pass breakup.....

MLB John Jackson... was solid. made 7 tackles...

WR Rickey Allen got some playing time in the slot as Javarris Brown got injured... and caught a 61 yard pass on 3rd and 20 that started our comeback in the 3rd quarter..

Sims-2 tkls. KO return for a TD.

Foster- Wasn't so much a force on the stat sheet, but I believe him and his 6'7" frame were responsible for most of mutts batted passes.

JT Green had a great game against Va Tech.

He had a KO for a TD, and PR that he ended up being tackled on the 1 yard line. He had two other TD catches, and though he isn't as fast as players I have had in the past, he is still pretty damn quick.

    Week 3 against Miami

MLB John Jackson had a good game with 5 tackles, and 2 pass breakups that could/should have been picks if he could catch....

CB Rob Mackey was decent, he got beat a couple of times on RAC but the Canes WR's are pretty quick and good after the catch... had a real nice pass bustup on a 3rd and 7 slant late in the 4th quarter...

WR Rickey Allen contributed some on special teams, didnt see any passes...

John Jackson continues to impress.... 4 tackles and 2 of them for loss....

Mackey struggled.. had a great pass backup then played some bump and run and got fried for one of Pitt's scores........

    Rickey allen had zero catches...

Stats for FR & RS FR after week 4

RS FR CB Thomas McKenzie: 33 tackles & 1 fumble recovery
RS FR CB Antonio Castillo: 24 tackles, 1 INT & 1 force fumble
FR LOLB Jared McIntosh: 15 tackles

McKenzie has been a surprise. He is only in on nickle & dime packages & leads the team in tackles.

Castillo is playing how I expected him to play. 91 overall speed & 89 in man & zone coverage. Seems to always be in the right place.

McIntosh is getting better every game. Sometimes he over pursues the play, but all in all he is progressing.

    Next update after Week 8.
