Baylor 17 Army 7
Army's defense had the Baylor offense confused in the first half. Army went up 7-0 on a 73 yard reception from Steelman to McInnerry. Two plays later Army intercepted a Robert Griffin pass but went 3 and out. Score at half was Army 7-0. In second half Baylor made the adjustments necessary to win and Army failed to in countering the adjustments.
Coach Duggan said after the game, "I take full responsibility for the poor gameplan. We should have called more agressive plays early, if we did so we may have had a shot to win. The Baylor team made the adjustments and they should be applauded in their effort. Our defense played well and kept us in the game."
Great game redwings, it was fun.
I am very proud of mu boys tonight. In what seemed like a doomed evening it turned out well. Was worried they wouldn't be able to match there Game 1 efforet but was amazed at the heart and determination these kids have.
Game one was lost due to a sever storm that tipped threw my area fast.Tried to squeeze it in knowing the storm was coming but it caught me late in the 4th and made me replay. Kentucky was up 42-24 in game 1 with 4 mins left when boom power outage. These guys played a hell of a game the Defense scored 3 TD lol. They also had 5 turnovers they were just brilliant. It was 42-10 until Oregon made a late push to score 2 pointless TD. So you can see how i was worried we wouldnt match that effort on Defense on the road vs the number 5 team in the nation.
But they did Oregon was out matched again Oregon lost 45-14. The Offense came hard tonight and fast they stole momentum early and never let go. Oregon managed 14 points but 7 were on a Defensive turnover for a TD. The defense again bottled up Oregon. Forcing 3 turnovers that were converted into 17 points. Key stats were Oregon was 0-10 on 3rd down....Kentucky out yard aged Orgeon 540-237 and had 25-7 first down advantage. Just domination very proud of the boys today and am riding high heading into SEC play were the Big Boys roam.

Buckley and the Vandals are relieved after a near mishap against FIU.
Idaho would have to come from behind to win their first game of the season 24-20 at home against FIU, who were without their coordinator bamagrad (hope to play each other again next time). Both teams started out relatively slow, as the only scores of the first quarter were 2 FIU field goals. Idaho's only scre of the first half would be a field goal in the second quarter. FIU would score a TD late in the first half, a 1 yard Darian Mallory TD run. Idaho would quickly drive down the field only to be picked off in the end zone by safety Jonathan Cyprien to end the first half with FIU up 13-3. (HIGHLIGHT #1)
Idaho would put together a nice drive to start out the second half, capped off with a 20 yard Dominique Blackman to Justin Veltung TD pass to pull the Vandals within 3. (HIGHLIGHT #2) FIU though would answer back with a nice drive, ending with a 3 yard Jeremiah Harden TD run. Idaho would answer that drive by marching down and scoring off of a 9 yard Blackman to TE Taylor Elmo TD pass, putting the score 20-17 FIU.
both teams would sputter for nearly the rest of the 4th, until with around a minute and a half left, Blackman would hit WR Marsel Posey on a 3rd down pass, but it was the run afterwards, where Posey, seemingly just trying to protect the ball (R1) would slip by defenders en route to a 94 yard TD score to give Idaho the lead for the first time. (HIGHLIGHT #3). A nice pass and great catch at the sidelines by FIU QB Jake Medlock to Junior Mertile would set FIU up at the Vandal 42 yard line. (HIGHLIGHT #4) But, the game would be decided on the very next play, as safety Gary Walker would step in front of a Medlock pass for the game sealing pick.
Next week, Idaho (1-1), will host Wyoming as FIU (1-2) will host Louisville
LSU comes into Lexington looking to roll over the Wildcats
This was the headline going into Saturdays contest. The 1-2 Wildcats just got annihilated on defense last week at Florida. Needing at least a honest effort to hold things together what a game it turned out to be. LSU came out fast and strong as usual. They pounded it in for 6 on a bunch of running plays. And after a turnover it looked bleak as LSU started at the 11 yard line. But Kentucky made the defensive stand of maybe the year. The secondary had blanket coverage and aloud pressure to reach the QB leading to a field goal. This inspired the offense as the Wildcats marched down for a TD to cut it to 3 at 10-7. After a huge pick the Wildcats added a field goal. And then the defense took over as all the play calls seemed to match what LSU was trying to do. With 2 more touchdowns the Wildcats reeled off 23 straight going into the 4th. The defense was stout and the offense when needed pounded the rock for huge first downs. What a win for Kentucky against a stout LSU side. "Very proud of the way the kids performed today when backed against the wall" said coach sng.
Blake and the Vandals are relieved after a near mishap against Wyoming.
For the second week in a row, Idaho had to come from behind in the second half to get the win, this time against an unsuspecting Wyoming team who had a 23-0 lead into the 3rd quarter before the Vandals would even get on the board.
Both teams had trouble mobving the ball in the first half, as the only points were scored on a TD run and safety by Wyoming to give them a 9-0 halftime lead.
Idaho would get off to a dismal second half start by throwing 2 pick-6's in back to back drives to put the cowboys up 23-0. Idaho would finally get some points midway through the 3rd on a 58 yard pass and catch from Dominique Blackman to TE Taylor Elmo. Idaho would hold Wyoming to a 3 and out and put together a nice drive capped off by a Blackman to Justin Hernandez TD pass. Wyoming would add a FG at the end of the 3rd quarter with the score being 25-14 Wyoming up.
The 4th quarter was all Idaho, as Blackman would throw for his 3rd TD, this time to his top WR Justin Veltung, and freshman HB Avery Blake would score the game deciding TD to put Idaho up for good. The Vandals would add a late FG, sealing the 32-25 victory.
Louisville Rolls FIU!!
Miami- All FIU could say is they are glad the 2 yr contract with Louisville is Over as they got rolled 45-7. The closest that FIU got was scoring a TD to Cut the Louisville lead to 14-7. after that it was all Louisville as they scored often and many. Fiu visited Louisville last yr and Lost 63-0. so playing the Cardinals has not been kind to the Panthers. Now the Sun Belt Competation begins as the Panthers entertain the Winless N.Texas Mean Green. The Coaching Staff knew it would be a tough ride early on as they Beat UAB, then lost back-to-back games as they had the lead and blew it. so now the staff is saying Now is the Time for the Turnaround. Fiu is 1-3 so far this season as they Begin Sun Belt play.
New Mexico State is trying to get on a roll. They pulled out the win in the in-state rivalry against New Mexico. However this game was a roller coaster. NMSU would come out blazing and would take a 21-0 lead to the locker room. Turner would run all over New Mexico's defense in the first half, however after a 2nd half injury things would get a little tricky. Jr. Redshirt QB Tanner Rust would play terrible throwing 2 pics. The coaching staff would put in true freshman Brian Crenshaw and he would come in and throw 2 quick INTS. That would make the way for Sophomore redshirt QB Andrew Manley he would throw 2 TDs and have a 75% completion percentage. Manley would help get the team to the finish line along with backup running back Robert Clay he would rush for 100 yards. The Aggies squeaked it out but there may be some changes in the horizon.
Going into week 7 Kentucky was riding high coming off a upset victory at home to #5 LSU. Needing to establish some sort of consistency they looked to continue the mojo as #22 South Carolina came to town. Lots of holes were exploited by Florida and those corrections the coaching staff made for the LSU game were accomplished. Though South Carolina is lesserranked they posed a stiff competition with all there playmakers. Anyone going against Lattimore knows the danger and Ketucky wanted to do there best to contain the likely Heisman winner. Right from th get go the defense showed it would be a long day for Lattimore and company. As they picked off tj SC QB on his 2nd throw. Using the field position to there advantage Kentucky took a early 3-0 lead. Followin a huge defensive stand Kentucky stormed down th field to take a 10-0 lead. From there both sides locked it up until late in the game when the rest of the scoring came. After surging back South Carolina came up short as Kentucky continues there sucess and goes to 4-2 on the year
Hawaii Grabs Win #2 under the new offensive Coordinator. The coach could not be any happier as he has a well rounded group of men and they racked up 211 rushing yards and a total of 380 yards with this offense. Air Force played a well fought game and was shutting down the passing attack all of the first half. Hawaii made some adjustments at half and hooked up with their star Junior WR Billy Ray Stutzman who had 111 yards and a td to cap off his huge game. But in the end it was the rushing that gave them control of the game Sr RB Jordan Monico had 20 rush 120 yards while SO RB Will Gregory had 12 rush 82 yards and 2 TD. The offensive coordinator is really excited about having Will Gregory as a back to have for a few more years. With him he believes he can turn this team into something in the next few years.
HB Kerwynn Williams scored 3 TD's as the Aggies just jumped all over UTEP 45-3. The Miners couldn't tackle even on a Pop Warner level as the Aggies second string was running all over their starters. OC Dredd feels his offense is hitting its stride just in time for its conference schedule heats up, "We have some business to take care of, we remember the Idaho and New Mexico games from last season, be aware we're coming!"
"BS"Offensive Coordinator Anthony Brammer was very upset after this one. "That performace by our defense was unaccpetable. I'm just a football coach I can't make miracles happen. We come out here and play one of the worst teams in college football and our D let's them do whatever they wanted to. Redicoulous."
New Mexico State's D was terrible tonight. They gave up 3 TD's throught the air. Navy would take the kick to start the game and they would drive down the field and score. NMSU would answer with a 56 yard TD run by Robert Clay. But everytime NMSU would score their defense would give one right back to Navy. New Mexico State would give Andrew Manley the redshirt Sophomore QB his first start today and he would be thrown into a tuff predictament. While Manley threw for 334 yards and 2 TDs he also threw 3 interceptions trying to keep pace with Navy. Brammer, "I feel bad for this kid, he had to be thrown into a tuff situation where he had to sling the ball a little bit. With saying that next time we run into a situation where the defense cant get it done we will try to use our offense as a defense and control the ball as long as we can."
The Final ended Navy 34 New Mexico State 24. New Mexico State would have an opportunity to try the game late but Manley would throw an INT in the redzone. Next week NMSU has a buy week which will no doubt be used to get on the practice field.
Fiu slams ULM!!
Miami- All week Fiu worked on their new offense in practice as they scrapped the old playbook to unveil the Au pb to ULM as they cruised to a 27-17 win.
Fiu's rb Mallary rushed for 141 yrds and 1 td to help the panthers offense out as the Ulm defense was confused most of the game on assignment routes as Fiu built a 20-3 lead. Then Ulm scored to cut it to 20-10. then Fiu used most of the 4th quarter clock to wear down the Ulm defense as most we're showing red by the time the game was over. QB Medlock rushed in for the clinching Td. Then Ulm scored again to cut the lead to 10. Then Fiu ran out the clock from there. Medlock had a good game throwing despite 2 int's. Not bad for a 1st yr starter. With The OC in Red it will be big if he can raise his score to save his job.
Next Up will be the Other Half of Louisiana ULL.
San Jose State tops last years win total with 2!
SJST trounced Navy in their best offensive performance under coach Jhujay. The offense was a rushing juggernaut racking up 384 rush yards, mostly on the legs of David Swarm who carried 32 times for 353 yards and 3 TD. Swarm scored on the last play of the game out of a goal line set from his own 7 yard line.
Our passing game was extremely efficient with Stewart going 6/11 237 2 TD averaging 39 yards a completion. The running game set up the passing game as SJST jammed the ball into the navy D only to then unleash play action to fool them.
I thought I wrote this one before I took my cpu to get fixed but I don't see it here.
Army 21 NIU 13
A defensive struggle from the opening kickoff. Army took a 7-0 lead with just under 3 min left in 1st half on a 40 yard TD pass from Trent Steelman to Justin Allen. NIU drove down the field on next drive to tie it at 7. After Army went 3 and out NIU takes the lead to close out the half on a 41 yard FG. In the 2nd half the Army rushing attack took over with Malcolm Brown scoring 2 rushing TDs. Coach Duggan said after the game, "Both teams played great on defense, the deciding factor was our Oline wearing the Huskies down. The Huskies made us earn everything we got and gave us a great fight."
Jared Hassin had 113 yards rushing for the Black Knights.
Army 21 Wake Forest 14
Army jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the early part of 2nd quarter. Wake Forest made it 10-7 with just under 2 min left in 1st half. Army closed out the half with a Jared Scott FG to make it 13-7 Army at half. Second half was a defensive struggle until Wake Forest scored on a 31 yard TD run with under 1 min left in game to take 14-13 lead. Army drove down the field and Jay Tully scored the game winning TD with 14 seconds left in the game. Trent Steelman scored on a 2pt conversation for the final score of 21-14. Coach Duggan said after the game, "I am so proud of how we came back after giving up the TD with 56 seconds left. Jay Tully, who scored the game winning TD, played well after Jared Hassin was injured in the first half."
Jared Hassin had 63 yards on 9 carries before getting injured in the first half.
BC 24 Army 20
Army jumped out to a 17-7 lead, then the BC defense took over. Army had the ball and on a triple option run QB Trent Steelman botched the option pitch and it was recovered by Jim Noel of BC who returned it for a TD. That made the halftime score 17-14 Army. The Army offense never recovered, turning the ball over 5 times(3 Interceptions) during the game. Coach Duggan said after the game, "We had them, and we let them take control by turning the ball over all those times. If our defense hadn't played as well as they did, we should have lost by a lot more than 4. We will be spending more time this week working on making the right reads on offense. We will also spend more time with Trent Steelman on throwing the ball. The 3 interceptions is unacceptable."
Jared Hassin led with 59 yards rushing. Trent Steelman had 51 yards rushing and 1 TD.
Rutgers 45 Army 35
Crazy game. Score was 28-14 after 3 quarters. Rutgers took a 35-14 lead in the 4th for what should have been the knockout blow but Army kept fighting on offense. Trent Steelman had 4 total TDs in game, 3 were in the 4th quarter. Every time Army tried to mount a comeback their defense allowed a big play. Coach Duggan said after the game, "I am proud of this team, they didn't give up and kept fighting. I will take blame for the play calling during the game. If I called a better game, maybe we have a shot to win at the end. At the very least if I called a better game our defense is rested enough to make some plays. The completion% of Steelman concerns me(28%). We need to find what's wrong and fix it fast."
Trent Steelman had 204 yards passing and 102 yards rushing, 4 total TDs, to lead Army.
AGGIES BEAT THE SPARTANS 24-7
Player of the game is Utah State QB Chucky Black who threw for three touchdowns. The Aggies took control of the game late in the second quarter to go into the half 17-0. The Spartans came out determined, going on a long drive to open the second half. After scoring a TD to close the gap to 17-7, the San Jose State defense was putting up a hell of a fight until this play sealed the victory for Utah State in the 4th quarter.
good game jhujay!
Temple loose first game against Kent State
Kent State 27 Temple 171st game was not successful for Temple. The D holds up but the O just had trouble moving the ball. A below average running game and many drops by WR. The Owls stayed in the game till the 4th quarter when Kent State took a pick back to the house which put them up two scores and really put the game of reach for a come back. The Owls fall to 4-4 and hope to find their 1st win with new coach John Krobot as they take on Western Michigan in Philadelphia, PA.
Utah State had this game in hand throughout, then the fourth quarter started and New Mexico State started chucking it all over the field. The shellshocked Aggies could do nothing to stop the aerial attack Andrew Manley of New Mexico State was unleashing. Starting a drive down 6 with a little over a minute to play Manley and company were on a roll. As they entered the redzone all Coach Dredd could think about is how many fourth quarter leads his team has let slip away the last two years. In seven of their eight losses it was close in the fourth and they gave up the booty. 29 seconds to go 1st and 10 from inside the 15 yard line with a chance to win for New Mexico State:
Whew! That was close great game indyballin22 !
gg dredd...that int was a heart breaker..I should have took off with Manley...blllaaahhh...lol
Nail-Biter in Moscow!
Eagles bow out at the end to Idaho 21-14
The Vandals would finally break their 5 game losing streak at home today, hosting the Eastern Michigan Eagles, with a 21-14 victory.
Both teams would start off slow, trading punts back and forth until less than 2 minutes in the first half. Eastern Michigan would score first on a 5 yd Alex Gillet to Nick Olds TD pass. But, Idaho would put together a nice quick two-minute drive, which actually lasted around 1 minute, capped off with a Dominique Blackman to Marquan Major TD pass from 13 yds out. The score tied at he half 7-7.
The lone score of the 3rd quarter come on a 2 yd burst from standout Freshman HB Avery Blake to put the vandals up 14-7. Eastern Michigan would tie it up midway through the 4th on a 4th and inches from the goalline run by HB Joe Fleming.
It would all come down to a final Idaho drive as they just wanted to get in FG position to win the game. With 10 seconds remaining on the 10 yd line, #3 HB Troy Vital (filling in for a spell), just trying to rush the ball to the middle of the feild, saw an open lane and scampered through for the game winning TD, leaving only 2 seconds to spare. After a squib kick to end it, Idaho would come out on top 21-14.
The Vandals (3-5) open up the 4 game stretch of WAC play next week, hosting Coach Dredd and Utah State
Utah State 6
Idaho would open up WAC play with a victory over Utah State. The game was a low scoring affair based on ball control and some good defense. Freshman HB Avery Blake would have a big day, scoring 2 TDs and rushing for 161 yds. Due to stingy defense on both sides, Utah State would remain in the game throughout the day, as the only difference wound up being Avery's 2 TD runs. Both QBs would throw 2 interceptions as each team concentrated on the running game for the most part. The total yardage for the 2 teams was 274 by Idaho and 273 by Utah State to show how close the game really was.
Despite Avery's day, player of the game honors go to sophomore DE Maxx Forde, whose 4 sacks and 6 tackles would help keep Utah State out ofthe end zone all day.
Good Game Coach Dredd
Next week, the Vandals (4-5) will host San Jose State.
Temple loses 2nd straight game
Defense never really did not hold up during the game as Western Michigan scores twice in the first quarter both on 6 yard passes. In the second quarter Western Michigan gets another FG before temple can get their first points on the board on a 6 yard rush by star running back Pierce. Temple would try to rally back in the second half but fell short on a dropped pass in the end zone to loose the game 31-24. They fall to 4-5 on the season
