The winner of each game (or user if playing the CPU) must post a short game summary following their game. The summary must include the following:
    • Game Score
    • Key Team Stats
    • Key Individual Stats
    • Notes
This can be as basic or as simply as you would like to make it. However, the more engaging the posts are, the more invested other users will be in this thread and the league in general. Its up to you how much effort you want to put into it.

Here are some links to help out your summaries:
    Have fun!

Packers move on to Divisional Round with 28-25 win over rival Detroit

The Green Bay Packers held off a comeback from NFC North division rival Detroit.

Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers was the story of this game. Rodgers ended with a near-perfect 153.3 rating going 16-20 with 226 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Rodgers was able to spread his targets around. Leading the receiving corps was veteran Donald Driver ending with 76 receiving yards and touchdowns. Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley also grabbed touchdown catches in the game.

One bright spot for Green Bay that had not often been the case was their success on the ground. Halfback Cedric Benson had 19 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown. With Benson rarely going over the 100 yard mark this season, this performance came at the right time for the team.

After taking a 28-10 lead early in the fourth quarter, it appeared Green Bay had the game locked up. However, Matt Stafford continued to make tough throws to Calvin Johnson and Brandon Pettigrew to get back in the game. After closing the gap to three points, the Packers got the ball back and Benson earned enough first downs to take the time off the clock.

Chargers continue late season push, dominate Jets en route to AFC Divisional Playoffs
    [IMG]
The Chargers took care of business against the Jets, controlling the game on the ground and through the air. What appeared to be a sloppy game early, as the Chargers fumbled the ball 3 times, losing one of them, settled down, ended up being a dominating effort by a team of destiny.
"Coach Smith Ellis really reshuffled the ranks, made us get back to the basics, instilled the confidence we needed to compete this season" said RB Ryan Mathews
The identity of this football team is much different then the one that opened the year 1-3. The Chargers look to continue their magical season next week in the Divisional Playoffs.
    Final Score
    Chargers - 34
    Jets - 10
    QB Philip Rivers - 19-25, 258 yards, 2 TDs,
    QB Tim Tebow - 17-31, 126 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int
    RB Ryan Mathews - 18 Rushes, 90 yards, 1 TD, 2 Fumbles
RB Shaune Greene - 10 Rushes, 44 yards
TE Antonio Gates - 5 Catches, 60 yards
WR Malcolm Floyd - 4 Catches, 100 yards, 1 TD
    TE Todd Heap - 2 Catches, 12 yards, 1TD

Chargers Cinderella Season Continues With Huge Upset Win Over The Chiefs
    [IMG]
Kansas City, MS - The pulse of the crowd at Arrowhead Stadium went from excitement to somber, after the undefeated regular season Chiefs lost to he surging San Diego Chargers. With the regular season game being as competitive as it was, no one expected the Chargers to pin the dominating Chiefs with their backs against the wall. Opening the game, the Chiefs looked good forcing the Chargers to go 3 and out. On the first possession of the game for the Chiefs, WR Jonathon Baldwin took a curl route 86 yards for the TD to give the Chiefs a 7-0 lead. On the next possession, the Chiefs would sack Rivers, causing a fumble and recovering. A terrible start it would seem for the Bolts. But in a game changing play, CB Antoine Cason stepped in front of a Matt Cassell pass and took it to the house to even the score up 7-7.
The Chiefs again would march down the field, making it look easy scoring on blown coverage on TE Tom Crabtree making it 14-7. But the Bolts, who under head coach Chris Smith Ellis, again showed their toughness with Rivers hooking up with TE Antonio "Big Game" Gates for a 38 yard TD to even the score again 14-14. The Chargers defense would tighten up, forcing the Chiefs to punt on their next 3 possessions. The Chargers would add a 55 yard FG before the half. The Chiefs would make the Bolts punt on their first possession of the second half but WR Dexter McCluster would take a big hit, fumbling the ball, and player of the game CB Antoine Cason again scooping and scoring to make it 24-14.
Kansas City, in need of a big play turned to their star WR Duane Bowe who took a pass 61 yards for the TD to make it 24-21 to start the 4th quarter. In Cinderella type seasons you need big plays from your star players, and that is just what the Chargers got from RB Ryan Mathews, who changed the game on a counter play. Mathews would seemingly be tackled for a short 2 yard gain, but kept his balance with his off hand, and scampering for 69 yards to respond to the Chiefs TD making it 31-21. The game would end on a Matt Cassell interception.
    Final Score
    Chargers - 31
    Chiefs - 21
    QB Philip Rivers - 12-17, 183 yards, 1 TD, 1 Fumble lost
    QB Matt Cassell - 17-31, 336 yards, 3 TDs, 2 Ints
RB Ryan Mathews - 12 Rushes, 114 yards, 1 TD
    RB Jamaal Charles - 9 Rushes, 27 yards, 3 catches, 44 yards
TE Antonio Gates - 6 Catches, 124 yards, 1 TD
    TE Tom Crabtree - 4 catches, 46 yards, 1TD
    WR Jonathon Baldwin - 3 catches, 122 yards, 1TD
    WR Duane Bowe - 3 catches, 92 yards, 1TD

Cowboys overcome early 10 point deficit, squeak by 17-16
    austin.jpg
    Passing:
    Romo: 15-26 237 yds, 1 TD, 3 Int
    Kaepernick: 10-21 139 yds, 1 Int

    Rushing:
    Murray: 20 – 90, 1 TD
    Gore: 11-37

    Receiving:
    Bryant 6-72 1 TD
    Wittin 3-39
    Austin 3-84

    Davis 4-45
    Manningham 1-30
    D. Walker 2-37

The Cowboy’s rallied back after a horrendous start to the game. On Romo’s first pass play he was picked off, and that led to the first points of the game for the 49ers (FG by Akers) On Romo’s second pass attempt he was sacked, he fumbled and the 49ers scooped it up and returned it for a touchdown and just like that Dallas was in a 10-0 hole. In the middle of the second quarter Dallas was able to drive into 49er territory, but the drive stalled at the 37 yard line and on 4th and 2 the Cowboys elected to punt. The punt was downed at the 3 yard line and on the Niners ensuing possession they weren’t able to move the ball so Dallas started with field position around the 45 yard line and this time they were able to go the 45 yards for a TD…an eventual 2 yard run by Murray. The 49ers added another field goal to make it 13-7 and the score stayed that way until the 4th quarter.

Dallas took their first lead of the game on a 25 yard touchdown pass to D. Bryant, making the score 14-13 early in the 4th quarter. The 49ers were able to drive down on their next possession and get into field goal range, the drive stalled on a 3rd and 2, when Kaepernick was flagged for an illegal forward pass. The drive ended but the Niners took the lead 16-14. Dallas had a few big pass plays to get them inside the 49ers 30 yard line and with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game, Dallas chose to run the ball to run some clock and set up a field goal. With just over 1 minute left Dallas kicks a 42 yard FG that just clears the upright, for what would be the game winning FG 17-16. The 49ers still had a minute left in the game and on first down Kaepernick hit Manningham for a 30 yard gain and it looked like they would be able to get into field goal range but on the next play Kaepernick made is only mistake of the game, throwing deep into coverage and the ball was picked off by B. Church…Dallas took a few QB kneels and the game was over.

    Game notes:
    Romo - 4 Turnovers (3 Ints, 1 Fumble lost)
Dallas Defense held 49ers to 41 rushing yards
Neither team did well on 3rd downs (Dallas 33%; 49ers 25%)

    Next up: Winner of Saints-Packers

Aaron Rodgers' huge day helps Green Bay advance over New Orleans 45-21

The Green Bay Packers won their divisional round game in the Superdome against the Saints to advance to the NFC Championship game. The story of the game was the Packers' offense that could not be stopped. Green Bay scored a touchdown on their first four possessions of the game and never looked back. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers had possibly the best performance of any player so far this postseason completing 20 of 27 attempts for 288 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions. Rodgers also helped on the ground running six times for 48 yards (excluding kneel downs).

Rodgers continues to spread the ball out to different targets as seven different receivers caught passes for Green Bay this game. Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley both caught a pair of touchdowns receptions and Jordy Nelson added one of his own.

The Green Bay defense had an up-and-down game. They gave up 412 yards to the Saints' offense and were torched by TE Jimmy Graham who had over 200 yards receiving in the game. Other than a few deep throws to Graham, the Packers were able to mostly eliminate big plays and forced turnovers. DBs Morgan Burnett and Jarrett Bush both picked off Cutler passes this game. Burnett also forced a Matt Forte fumble early in the game that was recovered by Clay Matthews to give their offense great field position and lead to a touchdown.

Next week the Packers will play in Arlington against the Dallas Cowboys to see who will represent the NFC in the inaugural VFL Super Bowl.

Cole Copeland Good game and congrats on a great season!

Green Bay wins NFC Championship over Dallas in 42-36 overtime shootout

The Green Bay Packers won a close overtime game in Arlington against the Cowboys to advance to the first VFL Super Bowl.

Yet again, Aaron Rodgers had a strong game to lead this powerful offense. Although he did have two costly interceptions, Rodgers' 22 completions on 35 attempts for 367 yards and four touchdown throws was enough to overcome the Packers' mistakes.

The Packers were very opportunistic early. In just the second play of the game linebacker Desmond Bishop picked off Romo and ran back 26 yards for a pick-six. On Dallas' following drive, Bishop came up with another huge play forcing DeMarco Murray to fumble and DB Jarrett Bush would recover. It took Rodgers just one play to find an open Donald Driver in the middle of the endzone to put the Pack up 14-0 just 90 seconds into the game.

Following this burst of scoring, Green Bay's offense lost its rythym and struggled to put points on the board in their next few drives. Dallas took advantage with long throws to Dez Bryant and Jason Witten to close the gap quickly. It started to look like momentum was going away from Green Bay during a punt when Randall Cobb called fair catch, but the ball hit off of his leg and was recovered by Dallas in the redzone. Dallas was very opportunistic of their turnovers all game long and scored a touchdown.

With the Packers scoring a late touchdown and two-point conversion, they held a 36-33 lead with just over a minute left in the game. Romo was fantastic at moving the ball quickly downfield and getting his receivers out of bounds to stop the clock. Their offense made it to the Green Bay 23 yard line before sending Dan Bailey to hit the game-tying field goal as regulation ended.

Overtime would not be as kind to Dallas as Green Bay won the coin toss and received the ball first. Rodgers and his receivers came up big with several short passes and runs to advance steadily upfield. After finding an open Jermichael Finley deep, Rodgers connected with a bullet pass in between zone defenders giving Green Bay first down on the Dallas six yard line. Following a short run by Starks, Donald Driver's zig route to the outside was left wide open by a Cowboy D focused on controlling the middle of the field. Rodgers completed the pass to Driver to end the game before Dallas could get possession in OT.

Green Bay will now face off against the winner of the AFC Championship to determine the first ever VFL Super Bowl Champion.

jeb4056 Great game and congrats on a great season!
