The Falcons won their home opener in a hard fought game against the Denver Broncos. While Peyton Manning controlled the game in the first quarter and a half, the Falcons withstood his two big touchdown passes to come come away with the victory.
The Falcons took the lead midway through the second quarter with a touchdown pass to Julio Jones and never looked back.
Matt Bryant even made a field goal after missing his FIRST FOUR KICKS TO START THE SEASON.
Both teams had 2 turnovers with Ryan throwing two picks and Peyton Manning throwing one key interception that was returned back to the 4 yard line (leading to Michael Turner's second touchdown) and a strip sack fumble that was recovered by the Falcons. The difference was that the Falcons scored 14 points off of the Broncos turnovers while the Broncos failed to score any points off the interceptions they had.

Vikings 38, Colts 24 INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana --- Winning on the road is one of the most important "skills" a team can acquire in it's quest to become a championship caliber team. On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings showed that they have acquired at least a portion of that skill set in a 38-24 win over the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Adrian Peterson rebounded from a lackluster week one performance against Jacksonville by compiling 209 total yards (132 rushing, 77 receiving) and scoring four times (two rushing, two receiving). The 209 yards of offense by Peterson accounted for 56% of the Vikings offense. Christian Ponder had the best game of his young career completing 16-of-20 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns. Ponder's 150.0 QB rating was just shy of a "perfect game" (158.3) and the highest single-game QBR of his career. The game looked to be a shootout early, as both teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter and were tied 14-14 after the first frame. The Vikings defense responded, however, and began to confuse rookie QB Andrew Luck. Luck wound up throwing three interceptions and took six sacks over the final three quarters of play. Peterson and Ponder took over and led the Vikings to their first win of the season. Next week the Vikings will return home to face the NFC runner-up from a year ago, San Francisco 49ers while the Colts will stay at home to face the Vikings' week one opponent, Jacksonville. Panthers Hold Off SaintsSurvive Late Charge to Start 2-0 Carolina survived their first game without WR Steve Smith and slipped past New Orleans in their home opener 17 - 14. The Panthers defense performed well picking off Saints QB Jay Cutler twice and limiting HB Matt Forte to 47 yards on the ground. QB Cam Newton managed to avoid the turnover bug for the second straight week and was just good enough to lead Carolina's anemic offense to another close win. Next week, the Panthers host the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants.
