OSU 20 - Stanford 17
Another defensive game came down to the end. OSU controlled the line of scrimmage with their run game. Katz had a solid game passing. OSU played it conservative against a dominate Standford team. Stanford made a comeback scoring 14 points in the 4th quarter and recovering the onside kick with only 5 seconds left. Stanford came up short on a Hail Mary pass that was batted down at the 4 yard line to closeout the game.
OSU has a huge game next week against Cal.
Colorado uses a strong defensive performance, and a rushing game to beat the Trojans. The game did not start well for the Buffaloes as QB Tyler Hansen threw a pick and fumbled the ball on the Buffs first two drives. Somehow, the Trojans were only able to score one touchdown off the two mistakes. For the rest of the half, both teams struggle to move the ball effectively. Colorado was able to tie late in the second quarter, but the Trojans were finally able to put a drive together and score a touchdown with less than a minute to go in the half. In the second half, the Buffalo defense continued to slow down the Trojans' offense. While the Buffaloes were able to move the ball, firs they scored on a 36 yard field goal. Then on their next drive the Buffaloes scored on a 3 yard TD pass from Hansen to Toney Clemons on 4th and goal. USC tried to respond, but FS Ray Polk intercepted a Matt Barkley pass, and the Buffaloes ate the remaining portion of the clock for the surprising win.
The telling stat of the game, was the poor play from Matt Barkley. For the game he went 7-15-52 yards 1 TD, 1 Int. It was if USC was content to run the ball, and forsake the passing game.
UCLA beats Arizona State 59-35
Well it seems like the defense came up short today for both team combining 56 points in the first half. But after that it seemed like Osweiler had problems throwing the ball to the right receiver and the Bruin offense didn't stop after that. Brehaut threw for 381 total yards and 5 TD's with 1 INT.
