    Hundred Point Holy War!

It wasnt pretty but Utah captures the Holy War in thrilling 57-43 win at BYU. It was a tale of 4 quarters. 1st quarter, Utah blew the doors open getting up 21-0 but somehow BYU responded and lead 30-28 at half. The defenses came out in the 3rd but BYU extended the lead to 36-28. The Utes scored early on in the 4th and converted the 2 point try to tie it up but a good drive for BYU gave the lead back to the cougars with 3 minutes. Then Utah took over, scoring 3 times in the final minute and a half and winning by 14.

Wynn looked good overall throwing the ball and went for 3 scores and 228 yards as well as nearly 50 yards rushing on 6 carries. He was knocked out of the game on the crucial game tying drive late where the backup Tyler Schreve came in and converted a 4th and 12 on a scramble. Wynn then returned to finish the drive. John White had to carry the load on the ground as Palamo was again injured after a hot start. White is a touchdown machine but was not expected to be the feature back but Palamo is not going to play in the next two games.

The Defense was on fire. Although giving up a lot of yards and points, the coaches were very excited at the playmaking ability. 4 interceptions, one returned to the endzone by Fegergren and one returned to the 1 yard line by black and also a sack fumble scooped by the big Derrick Shelby who rumbled 11 yards for a touchdown of his own. Even the return game was strong today. Pedroza averaged 27.5 per kick return while it appears Lucky Radley will now handle punt returns and he scooted for 22 yards on his only return.

    3-0 start to the season
    5 forced turnovers
over 4 YPC even with 4 sacks included
    0 drops

    Kicker has no leg
    3 turnovers
    Palamo is out 3 weeks
    still not enough QB pressure

Horrendous effort by the Longhorns as Bruins crush them 49-21
The Bruins weren't afraid that they were going up against a solid Texas team. But they sure did have a hard time tackling as Cody Johnson of the Longhorns racked up over 100 yards but it wasn't enough for them to overcome defeat. Brehaut had yet again a solid day throwing for 300+ yards and 3 TD's. Johnathan Franklin ran for 125 yards and 3 TD's. The Bruins offense and defense were clicking today and I was surprised that we held Texas to only 21 points. It looks like it was going to be a hard game due to all the broken tackles but we came up big. The Bruins take on their first PAC-12 opponent, Oregon State.

Devils lose Coach Redd's Debut - New Starting QB on the horizon?

    Illinois 31
    Arizona State 25

The fighting Illini spoiled the debut of Coach Redd, ASU's new coach, in a 31-25 slopfest. The Sun Devils dominated the game by yardage with a 369-226 advantage. However, The Fighting Illini took advatage of 4 Brock Osweiler interceptions(2 of which went to the house) and came away with the victory. Osweiler finished the day 17-37 349 yards 3 TDs and 4 INTs. Coach Redd was quoted in the post game press conference as saying "We are giong to evaluate the QB position and come up with a starter by midweek. No decision has been made."

Wow... first game I've run this year with a pro offense instead of a fleXbox One and it shows. I was lost in teh passing game lol. This should be a LONG year. I'm probably going to go with the backup to take advantage of his ability to run options to help out the offense a little.

    (1-2) CALIFORNIA: 31
    (1-2) MINNESOTA: 19
California was in desperate need of a win after stumbling out of the gates 0-2. The Golden Bears were down 0-7 after RB Lomante Edwards broke free for a long touchdown on the defense. Cal answered back to tie the game up. The Gophers would add a field goal but Cal would reach the endzone twice with RB Isi Sofele to enter halftime up 21-10. Both teams had similar second halfs giving up two scores with California holding on to lock down their first win of the season with a 31-19 victory. Sofele rushed for over 175 yards and had 3 scores when it was all said and done.

    • The play of backup QB Brock Mansion
    • The rushing attack totaling over 200 yards on the ground
    • Much improved play on the defensive side of the football
    • Getting off the field on third down with my defense
    • The rush defense - we gave up way too many big runs
    • Marvin Jones failing to catch a touchdown
    • Giving up touchdowns on long plays
    • Tackling still needs to be improved

Polk leads Huskies to another Victory
The Huskies relied heavily today on the performance of Heisman hopeful Chris Polk, and Nebraska had no answer for him as they allowed 234 yds on 33 carries (1 TD). Things started off slowly with Washington scoring the first points on a 12 yard TD pass to TE Marlion Barnett. Nebraska responded in the second quarter with an 80 yard screen pass for a TD to HB Rex Burkhead. The Huskies silenced the hostile crowd right before the half with a 68 yard bomb to a wide open Jermaine Kearse to put Washington up 14-7 as the clock expired for halftime.
Nebraska scored yet again in the third quarter with another TD pass to Rex Burkhead (cheesers). Washington would go on to score two unanswered TDs (10 yd rush by Johri Fogerson; 11 yd pass to Jermaine Kearse), and the deficit would be too much for Nebraska to overcome. They managed to score one more time with a 1 yd Rex Burkhead TD, but Chris Polk would have the last word has he ran it in for a 27 yd TD as time expired. 35-21 Washington.
Next Game: Cal ( IrishBearcat )

The Buffs have a lot of work to do especially on defense. The Buffaloes played very well on offense with Tyler Hansen throwing for 243 yards and two scores. But the defense was another story, in a game that Colorado controlled for three quarters, the defense just fell flat in the fourth quarter. The Rams scored 21 points, with their last touchdown occurring with 10 seconds remaining in the game. What was so disappointing for the Buffaloes they had taken the lead with a minute to go in the game on a 59 yard TD pass from Hansen to Paul Richardson.
