The Arizona Wildcats and SR QB Nick Foles were finally able to put it together and walk away with a victory against conference foe Oregon St. The Wildcats were fueled by big play after big play, connecting twice on pass plays of 60 + yards. "We were finally clicking on all cylinders, or WR's ran excellent routes and showed they're running ability after the catch" said Foles, who finished with a solid 276 yd 2 td performance. Foles wasn't perfect however, as his continuing issue with interceptions persisted Saturday after noon, " I have just got to be a little more patient, and make better reads" said Foles, who's int total this season is now at 13.

The Wildcat offense wasn't the only team making plays, the defense was aggressive all game long snagging a season high 4 ints, 2 by SR CB Robert Golden. Soph CB Jonathan McKnight added a 78 yard "pick 6" which was his first of the season. " We just wanted to come out and show that we could influence the game with our play, and I think we accomplished what we set out to do" said McKnight. The Cats also got to the opposing QB 4 times keeping constant pressure on the Beavers backfield.

Arizona looks to carry their moment into next weeks matchup against UCLA, Coach Rich Rodriguez was quoted as saying " They are a very well coached team that loves to throw it around, if our secondary can duplicate its performance for the Or St game, we will definitely give UCLA a test come next Saturday".

    Colorado 34
    Stanford 35

Colorado came oh so close to pulling off the big upset. In a game that went back, forth Stanford was able to hold on for dear life. The game started out very well for Stanford as they jumped out to a 14 point lead. However, Colorado would score a TD to end the half when Tyler Hansen threw a 49 yard hail mary pass to Toney Clemons. In the third quarter Colorado tied the game on a 1 yard TD run. However, Stanford would score back to back touchdowns making the score 28-14 early in the fourth quarter. Then the Colorado defense started making plays as SS Anthony Perkins recovered a fumble and it 57 yards for the score. However, Stanford would come back with a score of their own. Colorado would take the ball and Tyler Hansen would make another big throw a 43 yard TD pass to Logan Gray, pulling the Buffs to within 7. The Buffs would go for the onside kick, and recover it. Hansen would then lead the offense down the field and throw a TD pass to Paul Richardson with 8 seconds remaining. Then the Buffaloes went for two. The play was designed for a WR to run a slant, while the tight end would run to the flats. However, both were covered, forcing Hansen to throw a ball to an un open receiver who couldn't catch it.

GOLDEN BEARS RUN OVER OREGON IN SHOCKING UPSET
    (2-3) CALIFORNIA: 42
    (4-1) #2 OREGON: 35
The rushing attack for California was unstoppable the entire game. It began with a 52 yard run by Isi Sofele right up the middle for six. We forced a three and out and boom, Sofele punched it in again to get us up quickly 14-0. LaMichael James busted off a long TD run to cut the lead to 7, but backup Cal RB Covaughn DeBoskie answered with a break tackle on the edge going 33 yards for six. Up 21-7, California attempted to prevent Oregon from scoring with the final minutes in the half but QB Darren Thomas hit LaMichael James for a 3 yard pass to score with 5 seconds left in the half. A stunning 21-14 lead for Cal at halftime, but the Ducks definitely had swung the momentum.

The defenses tightened up in the third quarter. Isi Sofele scored the only points of the quarter for either team with a 7 yard rushing touchdown. Up 28-14 to begin the 4th it looked like California might run away with the game after Sofele added his FOURTH rushing touchdown on a 2 yard run. Oregon had other plans. Down 14-35 Oregon scored 2 touchdowns in 31 seconds with the help of an onside kick. Only down a touchdown Oregon booted it deep. Isi Sofele would add his FIFTH (!!!) rushing touchdown on a 57 yard burst right up the gut on an Iso play to effectively end the game. Oregon added another touchdown with a Darron Thomas scramble, but failed to recover the onside kick. Califronia stunned the #2 Ducks on their home turf in one of the biggest upsets of the season.

    +Positives+
    • An upset over a top 2 team in the country!!!
    • Isi Sofele blowing up in a huge way - 300+ yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground
    • Momentum: We NEEDED to steal a game we shouldn't have one to help bowl chances
    • The defense holding them down early and long enough for us to amass a lead they couldn't overcome
    • We beat friggin Oregon!
    -Negatives-
    • The defensive collapse in the 2nd half almost allowing a comeback
    • Continuing to give up big chunks of yards on a handful of plays
    • Giving up an onside kick to give them a shot to win it
    Next Game: USC CONDOMS
