USC struggled on defense wins 35-21 (i think)

Marc Tyler had to rush 33 times to eclipse the 100 yard mark. He did score twice and ran very hard. On defense USC looked like the best and worst defense in the country throughout the game. Arizona picked on CB Harris for two long TD passes. On the third TD Pass they threw a short screen and after 5 yep 5 broken tackles the player ended up in the endzone. Aaron Corp was up and down as well at QB.

USC may have been distracted due to their recent recruiting mishaps and a dose of missing their homerun hitters McKnight and Gable.

Carroll will have to refocus the troops if his title chances are to come to fruition.

    #24 The Ohio State @ #25 Minnesota

This had to be the biggest game in my young career as the coach of the Golden Gophers. It is crazy to think that I took a horrible team from nowhere to where we are at now.

The 1st half ended 17-14, Minnesota Golden Gophers on top. Minnesota was just happy to be in the game and keep it close. We had several mistakes in the 1st half. Pittman was stripped once and Weber threw a pick inside the Buckeyes territory.

The second half began with the Gophers driving down the field. Yet we would come away with no points as our kicker missed his first of 3 field goals. Our defense came to play stopping the Pryorless Buckeyes on a 3 and out on the very next possession. We would again miss a FG. Ohio State would get the ball back. They got inside our territory but faced a 3rd & 14. The defense would come up huge sacking the QB to bring up a 4th & 21.

    4th Quarter
Probably one of the most clutch plays of the day was made by Adam Weber on a 3rd & 20 inside our 30. He hit Brandon Green for a 1st down conversion. Eventually, we get to a 4th & 1. We convert but the play gets called back to make it 4th & 6. Our kicker misses for the 3rd time of the ball game as the ball hits the bottom crossbar.

OSU gets the ball to our 44. They try a HB screen but the QB is hit, fumbles and Minnesota recovers with 2:11 remaining. We would go for it on 4th & 1 around the 30 yard line instead of kicking a FG for obvious reasons. OSU stands strong and stuffs the run but has no timeouts left.

Just when we thought the game was in our hands, Kevin Williams bombs it to James Jackson(not related to Michael) for a 74 yard touchdown. 21-17

The Minnesota faithful begin departing the TCF Bank Stadium but freshman Jonathan "Kid" Pittman decides to show why he was coined "Reggie Bush-like". With 34 seconds left on the clock, Pittman takes it to the house for a game breaking lead. 24-21

My day was almost shattered. Williams would connect with the speedy tight end Jake Stoneburner for 61 yards on the following possession. Kim Royston, a transfer from Wisconsin makes the biggest tackle in Gopher history jumping onto Stoneburner's back while another Gopher defender comes to gang tackle the tight end at the 4 yard line. TIME RUNS OUT BEFORE THEY CAN GET THE SNAP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Minnesota OSU
    Score 24 21
    F.D's 22 5
    Total O 381 296
    Rushes-yards 50-178 17-88
    3rd DWN CNV 7-13 0-5
    T.O.P. 24:28 6:02

    Key Player Stats:

    Adam Weber 12-20 203 1INT

    Jonathan Pittman 33-154 1TD, 354 All-Purpose yards

    Hayo Carpenter 3-81

    POST GAME PRESS CONFERENCE

" We played solided defense today other than the over 200 hundred yards rushing we suffered from MSU rb CAPER ...and the two td's he had..that rb is amazing..he broke every tackle and nobody has been able to run on us..great job by him ....but we got some offense of our own going with Odoms scoring twice on two reverse plays...Minn has been plaing good ball..we got to get ready for those guys..I aint taking them lightly....We have to play some sound football next week or we will lose"...........coach drowsike

    OSU feel to WASH

    Wash: 34
    OSU: 20

OSU had a chance with 2 minutes left, but J.Rodgers fumbled the ball (He had 3 fumbles) and Washington ran it back to seal the deal.

GG BC.... hopefully I can get better and have a chance on your home field next year.

Will post my summary later. You played well. The 6 turnovers in game hurt you though.

Washington finishes road schedule undefeated, still winless at home.

    Washington 34 Oregon State 20

Washington knew they needed to better execute on offense against the run stingy defense that Oregon State has. The Oregon State defense did not disappoint. They held the star rb Chris Polk to 64 yards and the the Washington rushing attack only managed 58 yards both numbers were season lows.

The offense played smart. They did not give the ball up on a turnover all game. The defense and special teams stole the show forcing 6 turnovers and returning 2 for tds. The 6th turnover that sealed the fate of the Beavers could have been returned for a td but Fogerson ran out of bounds at OSU's 3 in a show of sportsmanship not to run the score up. Washington kneels from there for the win.

    Key Stats
    Rodgers (OSU RB) 3 fumbles
Rodgers (OSU WR) 0 catches 1 drop
    Locker 0 INTs

Washingtom plays Arizona next week, hopefully for their 1st win at home and to solidify their season.
