Game Summaries: Week 11, Season 3
Post in here.
USC 34 Wash 14
USc came out and dominated this game. They would only allow one offensive TD with under 2 minutes to go in the game. Aaron Corp threw a couple of TD passes and Marc Tyler scored twice while going over 100 yards on the day. One of his two TD's came on a short FG attempt at the end of the half that he took 102 yards for the score.
USC's defense dominated harrassing the Washington QB all day despite a low number of sacks. They put all everything RB Chris Polk out for a few weeks as they battered him everytime he touched the ball. Up next Arizona. USC must keep focus with two huge games coming up with Oregon and UCLA.
#25 Michigan 14@ Minnesota 24
Battle for the Little Brown Jug
Both teams punt the ball with their 1st possession. On Michigan's 2nd possession, Denard Robinson would fumble on an option attempt. Jonathan Pittman, takes advantage of the short field, scoring on an 8 yard run.
Minnesota would miss their 1st of 3 FG's on the day. Marqueis Gray has a horrible 2nd quarter as he throws a string of 2 INT's. Michigan would fake a 4th down punt, failing and giving the ball to the Gophers at the 50. However, Michigan would get the only points of the quarter with 1:24 left.
Xzavian Brandon catches a huge 25 yard pass for a 13-7 lead.
Paul Jones, shows why he is considered an up and coming star, catching Gray's second TD pass. This one would put us on top 21-7.
Frosh, Blaine Rogers would pick D-Rob's pass in the end zone to stop any comeback.
Pittman gets his 2nd straight 100 yard game. That is pretty good considering he has been fading from all the talk this year. 100 yard games against tOSU & Michigan is pretty damn good.
Key Player Stats
Jonathan Pittman 24-171 1TD
Oregon stalls with new Play Book..... but finds rhythm in 2nd Half :
Oregon : 34
Stanford : 17
The head ball coach of Oregon began implanting a new playbook this week against Stanford. The Ducks were slow to catch on.... but once they did, they showed good balance and ball control on offense.
QB D.Thomas found openings in the zone read scheme as he rushed 11 times for 58 Yards and 2 TD's. He also passed well, going 10/15 for 151 Yards and 1 TD. RB James ran the ball 15 times for 168 Yards and 1 TD.... he also went over 1,000 on the season.
Early on, Standford forced a couple turnovers and were within 4 pts at the half, but Oregon started the 3rd qtr scoring 13 pts (missed xp), and they were rolling under the new offense. All in all, it was a much more balanced attack from the ducks then we are used to seeing. They still rushed for over 200+ yards for the 8th time this season, but they also passed the ball down field more efficiently.
Next Week Oregon has a Bye week... then it is on the Road for 2 user games. They will play USC in week 13 and then Oregon State in week 14. Oregon is 1-2 this year and is 2-6 all time in BfR vs users.
BEAVERS CHOMP DOWN COUGARS 42-3
BEAVERS CHOMP DOWN COUGARS 42-3
The Oregon State Beavers (5-4,4-3) jump one game over.500 and one game closer to bowl eligibility as they defeat the Coach Frisk Alma Mater the Washington State Cougars. This wasn't an evenly matched game and even without some of Oregon State's key players, they were able to put up great numbers. The Beavers jumped to a quick 25 point lead in the first half and the defense was able to stifle the Cougs.
The Beavers offesne totaled for 441 total yards with 227 being on the ground and 214 in the air for a great balanced attack. Many players took the field for the Beavers as 3 quarterbacks took snaps under center and 4 RB's receive carries. Leading the way in passing was starter Cody Vaz who was 7 for 8 with 124 yards passing with 2 TD's. Markus Wheaton led Oregon State in receiving with 4 catches for 101 yards with 1 TD. The rushing leader was RSSR Ryan McCants with 13 carries for 127 yards with 2 TD's.
Oregon State's defense held WSU to only 159 yards on the ground with 54 being on the ground. Oregon St was not able to get to the QB a lot but produced many tackles for loss with a total of 10.
The Oregon State Beavers have a bye next week were they look to get some much needed rest for the biggest two games of their season vs Cal and Oregon. They will try and get some recruits as they have only received two commitments at this point.
