Game Summaries: Week 12, Season 3

Battle for the Floyd of Rosedale

    #7 Iowa 17 @ #25 Minnesota 24

Huge game for both programs this season. Even bigger game for the Gophers as they have lost the last two years against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Gophers were able to finally get over the hump notching a win. Speed killed and prevailed in this one. The Gopher receivers burned Hawkeye defenders left and right. Bad news for the state of Minnesota as Jonathan Pittman will be done for the season, out for 7 weeks. Duane Bennett will look to fill the role. The Gophers had a big advantage in the time of possession as they almost doubled Iowa's T.O.P. Another key stat that led to T.O.P. was the Gopher's ability to convert on third down winning that battle 8-11 to 3-8. A big accomplishment as well, The Minnesota defense held the Hawkeye offense in check to 172 yards while our offense managed to muster up 371 yards. To say that our next game is a huge one, is an understatement, as we face off against #11 Wisconsin Badgers.

    BIG TIME DEFENSE

    OSU DEFENSE COMES UP BIG

    Final: 42-20 OSU

OSU would punt the first 2 drives, BUT that doesn't mean they wouldn't SCORE!

    1ST
First play after the first punt....OLB SWEAT..yes SWEAT would force a fumble and recover it for a 73 yard TD scramble. On the next drive after a OSU turnover DB MOBLEY would return an int for a 32 yard TD. Making 14-0 in the first. The illini would not go down easily thought, they would not in a FG and TD before the first was over making it 14-10.

    2nd
But the arm of PRYOR was just to much. he would hit TE Dilillo for a 34 yard TD and WR Thomas for a 55 yard TD in the second. While the Defense held the illini to a TD.

    3rd
in the third Senior HB daniel Herron would take over and gain 2 very short Rushing TD's to the opponents FG. making it 42-20

    4th
This would be the final score as OSU defense would hold illini out of the endzone and 3rd string Running back HALL would chew the clock.

    Stats

    Passing
    T. pryor 10-16 205 yards 2 TD

    Rushing
    D. Herron 9-70 2 TD
    J. Hall 9-51

    Receiving
    Jackson 3-69
    Dillilo 2-55 1 TD
    Thomas 2-68 1 TD

Shook rattled then rolled. The QB R.Fouch for Washington was blitzed throughout this game. Playing at Cal didn’t help while Fouch struggled to get his passing game going. Cal’s had many opportunities for turnovers but dropped 4 relatively easy interceptions. Yes I said 4 and these were passes that hit Cal’s corners right in their mittens.

Cal’s offense ran very smoothly with the much anticipated return of SR RB S.Vereen. Washington had no answer for the very efficient balanced run/pass game, converting 4-6 3rd downs and 5-5 in the redzone. The only problem today was Cal’s 2 fumbles and an Int. Overall this team is dangerous when things start clicking.
    1st Qtr
First 2 drives by each team ended in punts. Then Cal got on the board first with a long 37 yard run and then Cal somehow missed an extra point. LOL 6-0
    2nd Qtr
Washington answered back by driving down the field 74 yards for the score. On the ensuing kickoff Cal’s returner got stripped and Washington returned the fumble 20 yards. On the next kickoff Cal’s SR WR M.Calvin returns the kickoff and takes it to the house going 95 yards. The two point conversion was made. Cal gets on the board 1 more time making it a 21-14 at the half.
    3rd Qtr
First play is an INT by SR QB B. Mansion for Cal. Cal was able to hold off Washington with a missed FG attempt. Cal was able to get on the board for 3 more TD’s, 1 of them being a sack by SR DE Urusu which caused a fumble that was picked up by JR DE J.Tipoti and who returned it to the endzone.
    4th Qtr
This qtr Cal consumed 4 mins of the clock with 4 drives. 2 of the offensive drives were halted by fumbles. 1 of these fumbles was from Cal’s QB who scrambled for 8 yards then tried to slide but somehow his slide turned into a dive and fumbled it before he hit the ground. This play probably could’ve been a highlight for America’s funniest home videos. Washington recovered and on the ensuing drive scored a TD.

    56-21 Cal

In a must win game for Michigan State after new HC T2Express came out and said he would lead MSU to a bowl game since 2009.

MSU kicked off and Ralph Bolden took the kick 97 yards to give Prudue a 7-0. Purdue kicked off to Freddie Smith who in kind returned the kick off 100 Yards and gave MSU the 7-7 Tie. The Spartan defense made short work of the boilers getting them off in 3 plays. The MSU offesne put together a slow drive running behind star TB L. Caper. 14-7 after 1.

In the second the Spartans would hold the boilers to 3 field goals from 26,20,37 yards. The Spartan offense would answer with 3 TDs of its own from Kirk Cousins who lead the air attack throwing to Fowler twice who had TD catches of 76 and 63 yards. D. Dixon grabbed a 34yard pass to finish the scoring just prior to halftime.

MSU got the ball to start the 3rd and made short work of the boiler defense. using the passing game to get down to the 1yrd line where Caper was able to plow in from 1 yard out. 42-23.

In the forth Purdue came to life behind the are of talented QB TerBush who torched the MSU 2nd Team defense. Purdue got 2 scores to finish with 37pts. MSU was able to nail the coffin shut when Cousins hit Freddie Smith for 39yrd TD Pass.
