Game Summaries: Week 12, Season 4

USC rallies late to overcome Oregon St.

Matt Barkley had a bad day. He threw two picks in the redzone the second was returned 104 yards for a score that would put OSU up 11, with 3 minutes or so left.

Barkley would respond and hit David Flournoy for a big TD with 2 min and some change left, 2 pt conversion good. USC down by 3.

OSU was attempting to run the clock out when there HB Stevenson fumbled around the 50 yard line. (I knew EA would make him fumble I could just tell). Barkley got us in FG range but he took a bad sack and got hurt. On the next play the back up QB would hand off to Mcneal on 2nd down which looked like an attempt to center the ball for a Fg.

Offensive Coordinator Sdid saw something the whole game that he could take advantage of but Barkley never had the time to hit it. He decided to let his back up grow up. With seconds left on the clock

    #4 CAL vs WSU

Will the University of California be able to continue their win streak to 10 at their own Tightwad stadium?

After the first 1tr it seemed that this game was going to be an easy win and that their streak will continue. Cal shuts down the offense of WSU and get on the board twice by SR RB C. "Debo" DeBoskie.

    14-0 Cal

    2nd QTR

Cal 2nd string JR RB D. "Yard" Yardway scores from a 10 yard run. Then Cals backup JR QB A.Bridgford finds SR WR J.Sparks for a 49 yard TD pass. Cal forces WSU to punt and pin it at the 3 yard line. Cal gets a first down then gets stuffed twice on the run. Trying to run the rest of the clock out this play happens...

    28-7 Cal

    3rd QTR

Momentum shifted big time. WSU drives down the field and score a 3 yard TD run. Cal answers with a 44 yard TD pass from JR QB Bridgford to SR TE S.Ladner. Still having the 2nd team on the field WSU takes advantage in a big way...

Then on the next offensive series for Cal

The samw WSU DE gets another INT for a TD........ Cals coach was getting alittle nervous so he puts his 1st team back in. This apparently worked well since Ladner was able to get in the endzone again from a 17 yards out.

Notice I avoid the open flats.... DE was killin me

    42-28 Cal

    4th QTR

Cal getso n track and close the game with 2 more TDs. Both by starting SR RB Debo DeBoskie.

    #25 Minnesota 17 @ #12 Iowa 14

A battle of top 25 teams took place at Kinnick Stadium. On a cold snowy day, Minnesota would improve to 8 wins on the season. Jonathan Pittman came back today but was irrelevant as he was injured on his 4th or 5th play with a dislocated shoulder. The Gopher faithful are anxious to see if he will play next week. Pittman hasn't been healthy for a whole year since his Freshman year when he broke out of the gates and had the college football world on a frenzy. Once again, the Gopher's speed was just a little too much for the Hawkeye's defenders. The Gopher's defense played brilliant forcing 3 interceptions on the day. The Gophers look to contend next year for the Big Ten title.

Great game CA and another big win. My QB had it in for me. Looks like RS FR QB Cody Ward is going to get the start against Wisconsin. Looking ahead to the future for the Hawkeyes, Ward is that player. Lets throw him into the fire and test him out in Mad-town.

Penn State, Dukes Ask Indiana...Hoosier Daddy?

~The Nittany Lions throttled the Indiana Hoosiers in Happy Valley with a final score of 59-0. The Lions racked up an amazing 554 yards total rushing on the Hoosiers, most of which came from Heisman Hopeful Curtis Dukes who managed 300 yards and 5 TDs on 24 carries in the FIRST HALF! HB Brandon Beachum had an amazing day as well, finishing with 206 yards and 1 TD on 21 carries for the Lions. 3rd string HB Sidney "I'm So" Means tallied 2 TDs on his 5 carry 33 yard day. A performance like this for Dukes and a possible Heisman trophy at the end of the year, and he could for go his Junior season and enter the NFL Draft...something the Penn State faithful hope does not happen...him entering the Draft that is, the Heisman trophy...we'll take it.

~Linebacker U didn't go without a stellar defensive performance. No points tells the story on the scoreboard, but the stats show how dominate this defense was. Penn State's offense managed 635 total yards...while Indiana only managed 94; 54 yards rushing and 40 yards passing. The Hoosiers tallied 4 first downs to PSU's 25, and converted 1 of 10 3rd downs and 0-1 on 4th. The Nittany Lions did not have to punt once throughout the entire game and went a perfect 6 for 6 on 3rd downs. A total of 7 punts for the Hoosiers and only possesed the ball for 6:51 to PSU's 21:29. Next up for the Lions is a roadtrip to East Lansing to take on the Michigan State Spartans, who currently only have 1 win on the season, which came in their 42-9 opener, against FCS West.
