    BCS Buster?!?

EMU gets one of the biggest wins in program history in thrilling fashion, outlasting the Cincinnati Bearcats, 30-20. With Andy Schmitt still out due to inury, the Eagles have gone with a simple game plan: run the ball, and, stop the run. Ball controll. Don't turn it over. This would be even more important against a Bearcat team which had a definitive advantage in talent across the board - and a backup starting again for Eastern at the QB spot - and with rain in the forecast yet again.

Cincinnati would get the ball first, and quickly put together a drive that left the D coordinator shaking his head after a score came on fourth and goal. The rowdy crowd was quieted, but would be given something to cheer about as three-headed monster of Blevins, Priest, and McMahon ran the ball down field to answer with a TD. The weather was a factor in the kicking game all day, and the missed XP at the end of the drive almost proved costly.

Going into the second quarter, Eastern Michigan's defense got the one stopped the team was hoping for, keeping Cincy pinned down near their own goal line. The offense would then scratch out a FG drive that would give the home team a halftime lead of 9 to 7.

In the third, EMU took the ball first and again pounded the ball at a Bearcat defense that began to tire due to being on the field for so long throughout the game. Dominique Sherer would finish off the drive with an impressive touchdown run. From there, the teams would exchange punts to end the third with the score at 16 to 7.

In the fourth, the defense did what they had been so determined not to - gave up the big play, as Cincinnati quickly answered with a drive that was capped by a long run fron Jacob Ramsey. Their defense then finally was able to get a three and out, and they would go right down the field after Tony Pike picked apart the secondary. Pressure was on as EMU trailed 20 to 16 with under three minutes left, but Kyle Mcmahon showed his worth as both a passer, AND rusher - he made key plays with his arm and his feet to extend drives in the closing minutes. With the clock ticking down under twenty seconds, he finally took the ball in on the option and scored to give his team a 23-20 lead. Getting the ball back with hardly any time at all, Tony Pike would have to pull off a miracle. He couldn't. Hit as he tried to throw up a last-second prayer, the ball was picked off and returned for six as time expired and the fans went nuts, giving Eastern Michigan the 30 to 20 win.

Coach WisconsinSports and his staff deserve as much credit for the win as the players do - they stuck to their game plan even when things looked bleak, and it payed off as the players executed on the field. They knew going in that the best and perhaps only real way they could stop Cincinnati was to play keep-away, and it turned out that they were right.

    Key Stat: Time of Posession - EMU - 18:03 Cincinnati - 6:26

Player of the game: Kyle Macmahon, who 'managed the game' and ran the option well, scoring twice (including the game winner).

Up Next: @Northwestern. EMU 5-0(2-0) survived at home against a team from the Big East, but now they travel to face the Wildcats from the Big 10 in an even bigger game that could have them in position to run the table...if they can win, that is.

BG's first MAC game of the season was a successful one. The BG offense managed to muster enough offense to overcome Bobcats' RB D. Harden's 225 yards rushing to pull out a 38 - 31 at home. BG Running Back Willie Geter rushed for 126 yards on 26 carries. He also added 80 yards receiving and scored 3 touchdowns including a 98 yard kickoff return.

The BG Defense will need to improve in order to get through the rest of the mighty MAC.

The Battle for the Iron Skillet

This rivalry game was never close. TCU, coming off a heartbreaking loss to Clemson and CJ Spiller, took it out on rival SMU in the Battle for the Iron Skillet. TCU jumped out to a huge lead in the first half, and the second team started seeing action in the second quarter. Not much excitement in this one.

    Final Score: 63-14

Buffalo, back after a short stint in sim-land, wins in grand fashion 13-10 as time expired with a 41 yd FG. The offense did nothing. The defense barely did nothing as just both Buffalo and Central Michigans Offenses ran roughshod on stankiness.
Roosevelt, the one player the Bulls have been able to count on producing ANY kind of respectable offensive numbers again showed up, catching 5 balls for 113 yds. Most of which he was diving and jumping, and stretching for, then as one would assume, getting his ass whooped. The Bulls lone touchdown came on a QB Option that got pitched to "Super" Mario Henry.
Cory jorgensen had yet another stellar game going 7 for 24 for 134 yds. AND JUST 1 INT.

Next week, we're planning for a big let down as we host FCS Turdburglar.
