Michigan Escapes Min, Takes home Little Brown Jug.
The battle for the Little Brown Jug
flashed signs of being a blow out to finishing in suspensful fashion..
Michigan struck first with a 41 yard field goal to take the early lead against rival Minnesota.. The Michigan defense shut down the gofers and help the offense set up a Forcier pass to WR Stokes from 32yards out. taking the early 10-0 lead. But Coach ContollarAbuser would not lay down for the mazie and blue.
The Gofer offense came alive and finally found pay dirt, with Ford hitting Allen from 14yards out. Michigan would add to its lead settling for a field goal from 29yards out. 13-7. But Michigan scored to fast and MN was able to go down the field and take the lead back with a 25yard pass from Ford to Allen. 13-14 at the half.
MN quickly added to its new lead driving down the field and hitting a chip shot FG from 19yards out. Later in the quarter the Maize and Blue loaded up the defense with speed and heated up MN, hitting Ford jarring the ball loose at what looked to be and incomplete pass but it was called a fumble and Blue was back in business, Foricer handed off to Jones who managed to get outside the MN defense and streak down the side line for 81 yards and the tying TD. 17-17.
both teams battled back and forth waiting for one to break, MN finally found a crack in the Michigan defense and got close enough to regain the lead on a 47yard FG 20-17 with 1:20 seconds left. Michigan drove down the field and with 6 seconds remaining Vincent Smith crashed over the goal line from 10 yards out to take the 27-20 lead and walk out Victorious.
Great Game CA!
After a frustrating and controversial loss (tried to call time out at the end of the 4th quarter with 5 seconds to go and it never let me call it, I had two left, time runs out and the rest is history I lose thanks PS3 for yor faulty equipment and thanks EA for fing me numerous times in that game) to Cal, USC rebounds and handles Stanford. Matt barkley threw a 37 yard strike to Flournoy and rushed for 2 other TD's. Curtis McNeal dazzled the crowd with a 41 yard scamper where a Barry Sanders like spin move left the safety grabbing air in the open field.
Freshman returner Henderson took the opening kickoff the distance to set the Tone. TJ Huff was all over the field making stops.
Cal @ Oregon
Cal escapes a nailbiter and defeats undefeated Oregon
Final 24-22 Cal
More details soon.
GG Saban, had me sweating that last drive!
Looks like Cal keeps its Pac 10 and national title hopes alive...
Oregon puts up a long drive, killing 3:30 off the clock but got stopped short of the 1st on a 3rd and 9. Oregon gets on the board 1st with a FG.
Cal responds with a long drive of their own but score on a play action pass to their SR TE S.Ladner from 3 yards out.
Oregon is stopped short again on a 3rd and long and kick another FG.
Cal responds with a long 56 yard FG of their own.
Oregon and Cal score TDs from their RBs from 2-4 yards out. Cal scored this TD in 40 seconds, leaving 18 seconds on the clock before halftime.
Cal gets on the board again from a long methodical drive capped by a TD run from Jr RB D. "Yard" Yarnway.
Oregon would score another FG to end the 3rd qtr.
Cal gets an interception on the Oregon 20 yard line. With only 2 mins left in the game Cal's coach was certain of victory. Noticing coach saban bringing down his safety to help with the run, Cal decides to run a playaction pass and try to hit the deep post. This playaction took too long to develop and the Oregon FS blitzed, going untouched this FS was able to hit SR QB B. Sweeney and cause the ball to float right to the middle of the field. This was easily intercepted by an Oregon LB and almost returned for the TD until my WR caught him from behind. Oregon then begins to move the ball down the field with their passing game.
Oregon got to the redzone of Cal and this is where Cal defense held strong. Causing a sack for a long 3rd and 17 Cals victory seemed to be at hand. But on 3rd and 17 Oregon lobs a deep post (over the head of my CB) for 18 yards and the first down. Oregon would score a TD on a QB goaline dive.
Now the score is 24-22 with 23 seconds left. Oregon has to go for the 2 to tie. Cal stops this 2 pt conversion by tackling the RB after getting a pass in the flat for a loss of 3.
Now the onside kick was Cals next obstacle. This kick bounced off the hands of a Cal receiver but thankfully TE S. Ladner was their to scoop up the ball and seal the win.
Cal then ran out the remaining 23 seconds.
Cal- 11:19 Oregon- 12:50
Cal- 1 int thrown Oregon- 2 int thrown
RB C. "Debo" Deboskie got 72 rushing yards and 1 TD and 2 receptions for 45 yards.
