Game Summaries: Week 9, Season 2
Post in here.
OSU : 35
OSU needed a rebound game after the stomping @ USC, and WSU was a perfect fit. OSU would still be without RB J.Rodgers, but Stevenson was prepared to pick up the slack.
Stevenson carried the ball 30 times for 170 Yards and he helped set the tone on offense. OSU took the game out of struggling QB C.Vaz early by running the ball. Vaz went 8/14 for 85 Yards 1TD and 1INT.
Defense Intercepted WSU QB D.Wagner 3 times. All 3 picks went for touchdowns. OSU controlled the clock by running the ball. Their TOP was just over 18 minutes, as WSU's was just under 10.
" Wasn't the perfect game... but we played ok. I would have liked Rodgers to be in their and maybe get some momentum going into next week vs Washington. Stevenson played well, and as of right now, he's the #1 RB going into next week. We will see how Rodgers practices during the week, but this is his 3rd Injury this year to keep him out of a game, so its hard to tell if he will be at 100% anytime soon."
P.O.G - RB Stevenson: 30 Car, 170 Yds, 3 Rec, 31 Yds
#20 Ohio St @ #7 Penn State
The fans at Happy Valley help keep the winning streak alive. Ohio State came in looking to upset the Lions and move closer to a Big10 title possibility. The Nittany Lions fell in the beginning down 7-0. But the defense showed up and the offense exploded jumping to a 20-7 Halftime lead. A critical interception changed the momentum and OSU would score in the 3rd to make it a 14-20 game. Another OSU interception led to a Buckeye field goal. Up 20-17, PSU needed to make a statement. They would control the ball and tack on another FG. 23-17 with less then 2 minutes to play. Ohio St, led by their Frosh QB Williams, would march down the field, but were held inside the PSU 5 yard line with no time left on the clock.
Final Score: PSU 23 OSU 17
-QB K. Newsome: 6 for 14 86 YDs 2 INTs
-HB S. Green: 21 Atts 91 YDs 1 TD
-LB M. Mauti: 13 TKLs 2 TFLs 1 INT 1 TD
-QB K. Williams: 17 for 26 124 YDs 2 INTs, 13 Atts 76 YDs

Michigan defeats Iowa
POST GAME PRESS CONFERNCE
"The gameplan was simple, we wanted to keep Iowa from from rushing the football. we figured if we force them into to passing we could play with these guys, the star rb back got hurt after his 5th carry so it became a little easier for us to call the defenses. Very proud of my defense today, we forced 7 turnovers today..defense won that game...On offense we keep the ball 14min to their 7min but we need an better offensive effort with only racking up 157 yards..Our rb had to leave the game on a foot injury but he will be find..we just want to take this momentum into next sat against Mich State.. No one was talking about us and no one had our game featured we just want to prove we belong and can play with the big boys.......coach drowsike"
Meltdown In Madtown???
Badgers vs Michigan St. Spartans
The 1st half could be summed up into two words. JOHN CLAY!
Oh what could have been a game for Clay. MSU could not stop Clay at all throughout the 1st qtr and until midway through the 2nd. The only way they could get back into this game was if he were out. MSU got just what they needed as John Clay went down with bruised ribs with 3:44 to play in the 2nd qtr. But, the damage was done and Clay's presence was fully felt. #32 rushed for 220yds on 23 carries and 3tds in a qtr and half's worth of play.
Wisconsin would close out the 2nd qtr with a 105yd missed field goal return by David Gilreath making the score 35-3 at half.
PUT THE BACKUPS IN!!!
not so fast my friend.
John Clay was dearly missed in the 2nd half. The Badgers could not move the ball on the ground like they were and were forced to throw the ball. Tolzien was picked 3 times in the 2nd half setting up a few scores for the Spartans.
MSU would close the gap to 15 with 1:08 to go in the 3rd qtr, 35-20. The Badger defense would then step up in the 4th holding the Spartans to zero points and preserving a Badger win. The offense would find the ground game again to close out the game through a combo attack of #22 Erik Smith and True Freshman #31 Brad Pearson.
Don't worry folks, John Clay will be back next week for the battle for the Heartland Trophy against rival Iowa.
But they will be without SR WR Kyle Jefferson who went down for the season with a broken elbow.
UW - 35
MSU - 20
QB Tolzien 7-19 101yds 1td 3ints
Total Rushing Offense - 55att. 329yds 3tds 0fumbles
QB Cousins 24-44 230yds 1td 2int
HB Caper 16att 137yds 1td
Jones for MSU is a beast, mthe momentum in my game against them was changed because of his play.
Washington 24 ASU 17
Washington came out with a different game plan on offense. They discarded it after the 1st drive interception by ASU. ASU scores first with a FG set up by the interception. Washington goes 3 and out and punts to ASU, their returner decides to return the punt and gets blasted losing the ball Washington recovers and returns it 9 yards for a TD. Next drive ASU's QB gets hit and throws a floater that is intercepted and returned 65 yards for a TD. Washington jumped out to a 24-3 lead before ASU made a furious comeback in the 4th quarter to make it a 24-17 game. Key injury for Washington Cody Habben, one of the eight lineman Washington has total, is out till bowl season with a broken tailbone. With Washington already having a depleted line this could be a big injury in their quest for a bowl bid.
The Big10 Title race is officially on!!! Sorry H22
