ALL AMERICAN KICKER KAI FORBATH KICKS 5 FG's, UCLA DEFEATS OREGON STATE 35 - 21

UCLA went into Corvallis and shocked the Oregon State Beavers, 35 - 21. The story of the game was turnovers. Unfortunately for the Beavers, they had 6 to UCLA's 1. Two of those turnovers were returned for UCLA touchdowns.

UCLA struggled mightily in the Red Zone. They were forced to kick 5 field goals with the longest being 50 yards.

With this win, UCLA evens their record at 4 - 4 and 3 - 2 in the PAC 10.

    Key Stats:

    Oregon State -

    QB K. Moevao - 12 for 28 for 192 1 TD and 2 INTS
    RB R. McCants - 5 attempts for 13 yards and 1 TD
    RB J. Rodgers - 4 attempts for 47 yards and 1 TD
    WR S. McGarity - 5 receptions for 80 yards

    UCLA -

    QB K. Prince - 15 for 30 for 141 and 1 INT
    RB M. Knox - 20 attempts for 56 yards
    WR T. Austin - 5 receptions for 48 yards
    CB A. Verner - 3 tackles, 2 INT's.

Player of the Game - Kicker Kai Forbath

    #11 7-1(3-1) Penn State @ 7-1(4-0) Northwestern

A huge game in the Big10 as the Nittany Lions hed north of Chicago to the shores of Lake Michigan to take on the Wildcats of Northwestern who are undefeated in Big10 play. Penn State has 1 loss in the conference and looks to take one more step towards the Rose Bowl. Returning from a few weeks off, Coach Cimmy was nervous headed into this one as he has not seen the field in 3 weeks.

Penn State would win the coin toss and elected to kick it to the Wildcats. The first quarter saw total domination by both defenses as neither team were able to cross the 50. The second quarter came and the Nittany Lions were able to tack on a 31 yard field goal from Wagner early. After more defensive action from both sides, QB Daryll Clark found his TE Andrew Quarless wide open in the middle of the field for a 44 yard TD pass with seconds left in the half. 10-0 Penn State at Half Time.

In the second half PSU would receive the ball only to drive down field and throw an interception off a deflection that was returned to the PSU 4 yard. This led to a 4 yd TD run by HB Simmons, bringing the Wildcats within 3 and making this a ball game. The Nittany Lions would march down the field and Wagner would send one through the up rights from 29 yards out to give the Lions a 13-7 lead entering the 4th quarter. Turnovers were abundant in the 4th, but points were not. PSU would stick one in from 3 yards out as HB Stephfon Green carried the ball to the paint and Clark would add the 2 point conversion to go up 21-7.

That would be the final score in this one as Penn State takes one more step closer to Pasadena. Key injuries have occured over the past few weeks, including this one that will affect the Nittany Lions. All-American OLB Navarrow Bowman suffered a broken collarbone during Coach Cimmy's absence and is out for the remainder of the season, and RT Dennis Landolt suffered a Torn Pectoral muscle in the win over Northwestern as he will miss 11 weeks of action and the rest of the season.

Penn State looks forward to next weeks game as it will be the one they have waited all season for. The 6-2(4-1) #12 Ohio State Buckeyes will travel to Happy Valley in what is the most crucial game remaining on the schedule for Penn State as the loser of this game will be knocked out of contention for the Big10 Title and a bid in the Rose Bowl.

    Penn State Stats:
    -QB D. Clark: 10-15 159 yards TD, 7 Atts 67 Yds
-HB S. Green: 15 Atts 50 Yds TD
    -HB E. Royster: 17 Atts 55 Yds
    -CB A. Wallace: 3 Tkls 1 INT
    -DE J. Hayes: 6 Tkls 2 TFL 1 Sack

    Michigan State 18 @ Minnesota 20

Gophers look to defend their home as the Spartans are looking to get closer to .500 on the year.

    1st Quarter
Two 3rd and 5 conversions for the Spartans kill the Gophers intensity right off the bat. Tight end finds a hole in the coverage and grabs a TD. 6-0 MSU misses extra point. Penalty after a nice run puts the Gophers inside MSU territory. Adam Weber finds Eric Lair who breaks two tackles for big answer. 7-6 on an almost missed extra point by the Gophs. Gophers sack Cousins and force a punt. Eric Decker, who has been getting double teamed for the past couple of games snags two big 1st downs to put the gophers at the 15. Weber goes over 100 yards passing with a PA pass to Lair after a holding penalty.

    2nd Quarter
Another holding penalty puts the Gophers at the 16 instead of the 2 yard line. Pressure forces a pick by the safety. MSU is deadly on 3rd downs by converting almost every time. Finally, we get a stop on 3rd down to force a field goal. 9-7 MSU with 2:35 left
Hayo Carpenter is injured on the kick off return. Sexy Erin Andrews reports he is out for the game. Big blow to our offense as we lose our main deep threat. Holdinvg on the offense but doesn't matter as we miss a FG. Of course Michigan State comes down and scores. Wasn't paying attention but they missed another extra point. 15-7

    2nd Half
They seriously blitz every play. Eric Lair emerges as a go-to guy for Weber. Weber scrambles on 3rd and 10 to put the Gophers in atleast position to get a FG. Duane Bennett gets the score. Fail to convert extra point 13-15. Gophers come up bigtime with forcing a 4th and 3 punt. Dumb ass cpu goes for a fake punt and tries to run with punter. Brandon Green torches the middle linebacker covering him for a Gopher lead. 20-15

    4th Quarter
3rd and 14 without their starting QB the Spartans are stopped inside the 20. They miss the FG wide right. Gophers are forced to punt after two very catchable balls are dropped... HMMM.... CPU AT WORK? Minnesota forces another FG but this time they make it. 20-18
Onside kick recovered with 1:59 left. Gophers find themselves with a 3rd and 11. Lair catches the game saving 1st down to seal the deal.

    #2 USC (7-0) @ Oregon (4-3)

    USC Trojans: 45 - Oregon Ducks: 28

USC came into Autzen Stadium, looking to stay perfect on the year and in conference play.. Oregon, needing a big win to remain at 1-Loss in Conference play, came in with solid hearts to knock the Trojans off of their high horse..

Oregon took first blood after forcing the Trojans to go 3-and-out, with a short 50 yard drive capped by a 1 yd Crenshaw TD run.. USC would strike back in their next drive to tie things up late in the 1st quarter..

Oregon would work their way down the field on their next drive, capping off another solid drive with a TD run by L. Blount.. USC would try to answer back, but after two firstdowns, would still have to punt away to the Ducks.. Masoli heated up the passing attack, taking the Ducks all the way to the USC 2 yard line with just under a minute to play.. On second and goal, Masoli rolled out to hit the FB in the flats, only to get picked off by the speedy Trojan DE, who took the ball 98 yards for the score.. This would be a hige momentum shift as the teams were tied at half rather the the Ducks having a two score lead..

Oregon got the ball first in the second half, and had an easy 3-and-out for the Trojans defense.. USC would then march down and score, taking their first lead of the game. After a Masoli fumble, USC would recover the ball and be held to a 4 play drive, capped with a FG to go up 10 points..

Oregon would march all the way down the field as time expired in the 3rd, and rammed the ball in from 2 yards out to start off the 4th quarter.. The ball game was still in anyone's hands at 24-21 with over 5:00 to play.. Until ROBO QB stepped in.. USC would complete 3 passes for an 80 yard drive and the score to take another 10 point lead.. On Oregon's next attempt, the DE would strip/pick Masoli on his pass, and take the ball in for another defensive touchdown. Oregon would strike back after moving the ball successfully through the air, and with 2:00 left attempted the onside kick (down by 10).. USC recovered the kick, and only needed 2 passes to find the endzone again, putting the game out of reach..
