Gator Bait: 2013 Florida Game Summaries

    Florida 21 Kansas State 14

This game was defense battle from start. Each defense held as the quarter ended in a 0-0 tie. K. State got rolling in the 2nd half with a 58 yard Brett Stevenson run. At this point Gator Nation was in shock. Florida through 5 quarters of play had yet to put up a single point and had lost starting HB Mike Gillislee for 4 weeks.

The Gators, however, would fight back with a great drive capped by this Jordan Reed 1 yard TD run:

Florida got the ball and seized the momentum at the start of the third quarter. Andre Debose lined up in the Gator Heavy formation and, after faking the handoff, ran it in for a 5 yard score.

At this point Florida had all of the momentum. K.State punted but a Debose FUMBLE let to a K. State scoop and score. 14-14 going into the 4th!

Florida, however, would get the defensive stops that they needed. Adam Jones would pick off Wildcat QB George Triplett to stop a drive inside the Florida 30 yard line. Florida would drive the field and Reed would punch it in from 1 yard out again to give the Orange and Blue a 7 point lead.

After trading punts, senior LB Jelani Jenkins made the play of the game:

    Penn State 17 Florida 44

This was a HUGE early test for the Gators who were fresh off a road win against a quality K. State team. Florida started hot by forcing a 3 and out and then scoring on a Jordan Reed 8 yard pass to Andre Debose. Penn State would counter with a FG, but just before the end of the quarter Reed would hook up with Jermaine Hayes from 31 yards out to push the lead to 14-3.

The big concern for Florida coming into this game was the offensive production of Jordon Reed, especially in the passing game. This was a breakout game for Reed at the expense of a quality opponent.

With the game in doubt in the 3rd quarter (23-10 Florida), Andre Debose took this handoff 72 yards to break the game wide open:

Disappointing night in the Swamp as Florida falls to Tennessee. The Vols were just on fire. I think this was a game where the CPU was like "um...no, there is no chance for you here."

Florida will try to rebound next week at Kentucky. The Gators in will have to root for two Tennessee losses and most likely beat Arkansas in Razorback Stadium to get to Atlanta...

Florida puts in a workman-like day at the office and outlasts Kentucky 31-14 in Commonwealth Stadium. Kentucky pulled to within 3 early in the 3rd before Heisman hopeful Andre Debose caught a 65 yard TD to put Florida up for good.

This may possibly be the greatest CPU game I have ever played. LSU was unstoppable to start the game. The Tigers scored on their first 5 offense possessions and put up 35 points on Florida's D in the first half.

The story of the game was Andre Debose, who had a signature Heisman day. The senior hybrid back had 12 catches for 294 yards and 2 TDs and 9 carries for 29 yards and 2 more TDs on the ground. With Florida down 11 in the 2nd half, Debose converted 3rd and 4th downs at will and scored on receptions of 79 and 75 yards.

Florida rolled into Razorback Stadium to take on the Hogs in what was a must win for coach 2Bits' squad in the race for the SEC East and a trip to Atlanta. Florida came out on fire. The Gators took the ball, drove down the field, and scored on this Jordan Reed pass to Andre Debose:

On Arkansas' first play from scrimmage, QB T. Williams would be picked off by Florida LB Adam Jones; Andre Debose would run it in from 4 yards out to give the Gators a 2 score lead.

After a quick Arkansas score, Reed would find A. Doty over the middle on this 78 yd pass:

Florida would add a FG to push the lead to 24-7, but the Razorbacks would fight back:

This Williams' TD pass plus another quick strike cut the lead to 3 at the half

After a slow 3rd quarter, Florida would put the game away:

Andrew Mullins' score would give Florida a comfortable 2 score lead
