A new era of football is coming to Gainesville. A new coach who brings along with him a new offense, a new defense, and a new attitude. With those new things comes the tradition and standard that is Florida Gator Football. Pre-Season 1st Team All-SEC QB James Tanner along with outstanding tailbacks James Lewis and Tommy White should have the new "Pistol" offense running on all cylinders. The schedule this year is tough as the Gators face 6 ranked opponents and they open the season on the road against Mississippi State. Coach Ransom says "Its time to start winning championships. Its time to play Florida Gator Football".

    THE 6 WEEK MARK

As the Gators go into their 3 game strech in facing Missouri,#4 LSU, and #8 Alabama, the Gators finish the 1st part of their season 2-1. The Gators have bounced back well after that dissapointing loss against Mississippi State in their SEC opener. Coach Ransom since that loss has went to a more balanced Pistol offense and it has positive results so far. With the balanced offense the Gators have outscored their opponents 73 to 34 as the defense has also stepped up it's play. Senior LB Nick Alexander has been playing very well the last two games accounting for 17 tackles and a sack. "The defense has played good but we can still improve" says Alexander, has they get ready to play another up-tempo offense in Missouri. The next 3 games are important and could go a long way in knowing what kind of team the Gators have this season.

    THE END OF THE YEAR!!

The Florida Gators ended their 2017 season on a 7 game winning streak with a 10-3 record after winning the Outback Bowl over a very tough Iowa team. Senior QB James Tanner played a outstanding game in the Outback bowl accounting for 6 touchdowns (3 passing and 3 rushing) to go with his 286 total yards. He was also named the MVP of the Outback Bowl. The defensive also played well in the game forcing 3 turnovers with 1 going back for 6 as Nick Alexander ended his senior campaign with a pick 6 in the 4th quarter. The secondary played well holding Iowa's dangerous WR Aaron Sanders to just 2 catches for 26 yards. All in all, a good way to close out the year for the Gators but now a new season with new questions. Who will step up on offense next year in the backfield after Tanner, White, and Lewis leave?? Who will replace the all-time leader in yards and receptions Rodney Fields and fellow senior WR's Lamar Smith and Corey Anderson?? Who replaces Nick Alexander at MLB?? It should very interesting to see how next years Gators do. Til then..GO GATORS!!!
