The First Game of the season featured the #1 Florida at #12 Nebraska.Like most teams going into the first game of the season both teams were excited to see how well they would play with so many question marks. Both teams were riding high with great ends to there season last year making this the "National Game of the Week."

    First Quarter

Winning the toss the Gators chose to kick off in a hostile environment. After a quick hold the Gators took a long drive the length of the field capped off by a Pridemore 12 yard touchdown catch. Not much time left in the quarter lead to a 7-0 Gator first quarter lead.

    Second Quarter

After a hold the Gators ended there next drive with a 20 yard pass to Alli. The Corn Huskers answered right back with a nice drive ending with a16 yard pass to Cooper making it 14-7 Florida. On the next drive the Gators struck with a 80 yard touchdown pass to Debose. Adding a late field goal to end the half Florida took a 24-7 lead to half.

    Third Quarter

This quarter was simply a defensive battle as both teams locked it up exchanging field goals making it 27-10 starting the 4th.

    Fourth Quarter

More of the same in the 4th as both teams played great on D.Florida picked up a field goal in the middle of the quarter and a late safety to complete the scoring.

    Final Score

    Florida.........32

    Nebraska.....10

    Pre Game Breakdown
Both teams have been anticipating this game for some time. Coach Red lost the conference title game last year. A lose that cost Ohio St a trip to the National Title game vs SoxandGators. So emotions were high as both coaches never facing the other prior ...looked to tangle in the Swamp both off of wins. Last week the Wolverines beat SEC foe Georgia as Florida was off a bye following a win over a very good Nebraska squad. There is no questioning the type of teams they are speed..speed..and more speed. When two similar styles meet it always brings a battle to remember.

    First Quarter

Michigan won the toss and chose to kick off on the road. A plan that payed off as the Gators went 3 and out. Michigan quickly took charge on a play action crossing route to Thomas that went for 83 yards giving Michigan a early 7-0 lead. The Gators answered with a sustained drive ending with a 10 yard touchdown pass to Patton. The game was just getting going when a offensive explosion begun that lasted upwards of 11 minutes. Michigan quickly took back the lead with a 56 yard Robinson scamper. Giving Michigan a early road lead 14-7

    Second Quarter

The Gators marched down and again found a streaking Patton for a 14 yard touchdown knotting it at 14 a piece. After a stop finally by the Gators they answered on the first play with a 79 yard run by Gillislee taking there first lead 21-14. After hitting a very long go route setting up a 5 yard fb fun by Michigan in 20 seconds making it 21-21.Just 17 seconds later the Gators hit a 77 yard pass to take a 28-21 lead. With a well ran no huddle Michigan marched for a tying score with a touchdown run of 5 yards by Cox. With 30 seconds left in the half the Gators looked to gamble going no huddle themselves getting to the 15 before kicking a go ahead field goal to make it a 31-28 Gator lead at half. Both teams needing a break after a track meet go into half happy with there performances..Well at least on offense.

    Third Quarter

With adjustments being made by both teams the second half begun. Both sides played well for both teams in the third with the Gators tallying the only score a 64 yard pass to Debose.Florida lead starting the 4th 38-28

    Fourth Quarter

The 4th was more of the same as it was a stark contrast of the first half as both teams got tough and didn't budge much. The Gators found a seam and broke the game wide open as Gillislee took it 53 yards to the house. After a big hit causing Robinson to fumble the Gators added a field goal with a short field. And a late touchdown with seconds left by Michigan wrapped up the battle of Michigan and Florida.

    Final Score

    Florida.........48

    Michigan.....34
