Georgia at Florida Georgia holds on for 45-35 win Georgia won the toss and elected to kick like pussies. Managed to hold the Florida offense to a field goal on the first drive, chalk that up as a win. 3-0 UF Georgia countered with a measured drive that resulted in a touchdown, as Mike Anderson made it in from 11 yards out, one of two touchdowns on the day for Mr. Anderson. 7-3 UGA Florida got the ball back and again drove with little problem until getting past midfield. But once that happened the Georgia defense stiffened, and forced a 41-yard field goal. 7-6 UGA Georgia put the offense in high gear and scored pretty quickly on their next drive. James Scales found Marlon Brown ona 29-yard touchdown pass. The post route seems to kill Florida in certain situations and this was one of those times. 14-6 UGA Florida's next possession Georgia swarmed them. MLB Danny Dowdell got to the QB almost untouched on a middle blitz, forced a fumble, and Abry Jones picked it up and ran it back for a touchdown. Suddenly it was looking like a possible blowout. 21-6 UGA Not so fast my friend. Florida completed a nice pass then Chris Rainey took the ball off end for a 43-yard touchdown run. Nobody on the Georgia defense can stay with any of the Florida skill position guys in the open field and he was GONE. 21-13 UGA Florida pressured James Scales and he threw a wobbly duck straight to the Florida defender. Florida turned the drive into points with a 21-yard touchdown run by Jeff Demps, then converted the 2-point attempt successfully against a suddenly listless Bulldogs defense. 21-21 With just 1:06 remaining in the first half, Georgia embarked upon a nice drive. Twice they got out of bounds, and other times they used their timeouts. Scales missed a wide open guy deep which momentarily had us pissed, but in the end Scales was awesome on the drive, which culminated in an 11-yard pass from Scales to TE Aron White. 28-21 UGA Halftime Georgia got the ball first in the second half and looked good until getting stopped short on a 3rd and 2. We made the pussy move and went for the field goal. 31-21 UGA Florida responded with a 1-yard touchdown by FB Wilks on a long drive. The two key plays were a 23-yard pass to Thompson and a 26-yard pass to Parks which set Florida up at the five. 31-28 UGA Florida forced a three and out on Georgia's next possession, and after a 10-yard penalty gave them 1st and 20, Brantley completed a 20-yard pass over the middle. The Georgia defense was officially scuffling at this point. Gains of 3, 18, 10, 5, 6, and 5 yards setup a 1-yard touchdown plunge, again by Wilks. 35-31 UF After a 3-yard gain, Anderson was dropped for a four-yard loss. No matter, as Scales finally hooked up with Tavarres King on a deep ball that was there all night (we overthrew it once and dropped one another time) King made the catch and went 72 yards to take the lead back for Georgia. 38-35 UGA Georgia had something left in the tank on defense. Demps carried for 1 yard, then Brantley was sacked for an 8-yard loss before throwing an incomplete pass. With about four minutes to go, the smart play was to punt and Florida did just that. Carlton Thomas had a 17-yard return which setup Scales to throw a play-action pass in the flat to Mike Rivera, who was wide open. one guy missed and he went 39 yards down the sideline. Anderson carried three times for the final 12 yards on the drive, giving Georgia a comfortable margin with just 2:13 to go. 45-35 UGA Georgia's defense was now totally amped, and was now all over Brantley. Three of Georgia's five sacks came on the final drive as Georgia held Florida on downs. With 21 seconds left the Bulldogs kneeled it out. GG Steelah. I thought we'd never get a handle on your offense.
