Georgia beats Florida 48-28 thanks to three turnovers

It was a battle of two teams that don't figure to factor into the big picture, but it was a big game nonetheless as both teams went into this game feeling they could beat the other which doesn't happen too often for these two teams in the SEC.

Florida took the opening kickoff and went three and out. Georgia moved down via a systematic drive and scored on a 1-yard run by Matthew Peters to open the scoring, 7-0.

The Gators countered with a nice play, finding the backup tight end (82 spd) who then outran the entire Georgia defense that doesn't feature anybody slower than him for a 47-yard score. :( 7-7! :)

Georgia was held to a field goal on their next possession. 10-7.

Florida was again made to punt, and the Dawgs went right down the field. The Florida defense never did get a handle on this unit. They had fewer total yards than the Gators due to short fields and a garbage time bomb, but were very effective on the whole. Marlon Brown capped off the drive with an 8-yard touchdown reception, one of three on the day for the behemoth receiver.

Florida then threw the first of three interceptions on the day. Rising star Joe Dixon, an impressive corner for the Dawgs, picked off his 6th pass of the season and brought it back for his third touchdown of the year. Suddenly Florida was in a heap of doo doo, 24-7.

Georgia received the second half kickoff and were happy to settle for a field goal, 27-7.

Florida used up some time to score a 3-yard touchdown and show they weren't out of it, but the Georgia offense got right back on the horse and strengthened their hold on the game. Scales found Brown from 28 yards out to make it 34-14 and effectively ice the game.

Two additional turnovers led to more points for the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter after Florida scored a touchdown early in that final frame.

Vogel then threw a traditional garbage-time bomb which always seems to work against Georgia just to make our defense look bad statistically.

    Final score 48-28.

    Players of the game:

UGA: Marlon Brown - 5 Rec, 91 Yds, 3 TD
    UF: J. Vogel - 14-23, 316 yards, 3 TD
