Georgia beats Miami 27-13, now sits and waits

In a game that was described as "boring" by the viewer (that's singular) Georgia outlasted Miami 27-13 in a game that probably WAS boring.

There were a laughable 28 tackles for loss between the two teams (14 apiece); 11 sacks, also split pretty evenly 6-5; What there wasn't a lot of was BLOCKING!

Miami's defense hurt Mike Anderson three times on the day. His nagging injuries allowed Miami to keep us totally bottled up on the ground. Luckily James Scales was up to the occasion. The freshman added to his touchdown total with three (29 on the season) and didn't throw an interception in passing for 204 yards on the day.

In the end the defenses did the job for both teams, but some shoddy quarterback play by Jacory Harris didn't do them any good. Harris was a sure-fire first rounder after last season. After his performance before the game he was a "will he be drafted." now we're wondering if they'll let him into the CFL. Quite a fall from grace! He missed on the same exact pass (both wide-open receivers) twice in a row at the end of the game to sort of "seal the deal" on his career.

Miami was held to just 235 yards, despite possessing the ball for 18:32 of the 32:00 in this game. Georgia wasn't much better, with 285 yards.

James Scales won player of the game for his performance, but I give the game ball to middle linebacker Danny Dowdell (9 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack). He is making a push to beat out DeAngelis for the starting job next year.

    Scoring Summary:

    First Quarter

    4:48 - Miami - L. Chambers, 1-yard run

    Second Quarter

3:29 - Georgia - Mike Anderson, 49-yard pass from J. Scales (and about 10 broken tackles on the play. God damnit I didn't get the video highlight of this.....
    0:15 - Georgia - Tavarres King, 14-yard pass from J. Scales

    Third Quarter

    4:16 - Georgia - 39-yard Field Goal Walsh

    Fourth Quarter

    7:56 - Miami - 21-yard Field Goal Wieclaw
    6:38 - Georgia - 47-yard field goal Walsh
    2:59 - Miami - 47-yard field goal Wieclaw
    1:07 - Georgia - Marlon Brown, 33-yard pass from J. Scales

Still a lot of ways we might not make it in. Looking at the BCS rankings.

that's why I said now we wait, instead of "now we go to the title game."
