Week 9 - 13th Ranked Bulldogs Stun the 3rd Ranked Horned Frogs
    [IMG]
Fort Worth – Week 9 featured the 3rd ranked Horned Frogs hosting the 13th ranked Bulldogs in what looked to be an easy win for TCU. The Bulldogs entered the game with a new coaching staff who were trying to implement a new philosophy on both offense and defense and that was compounded by the fact the Georgia would be entering the game banged up. Georgia would be without the services of their top two running backs Washaun Ealey (bruised shoulder) and Carlton Thomas (broken collarbone).
As expected the Georgia offense struggled throughout the first quarter but fortunately the Bulldog defense played with an intensity level that reminded many of Georgia faithful of the Junk Yard Dawg defenses from the 70’s and 80’s. Midway through the 2nd quarter Georgia was finally able to put together a drive which resulted in a 26 yard FG and a 3-0 Georgia lead. But the lead did not last as TCU finally cracked the Georgia end zone with a 3 yard TD run with 1 minute remaining in the half. But for TCU that was 1 minute too long as Murray connected with 3rd string HB Ken Malcome on 2nd down for a 46 yard screen pass to put the Dawgs in scoring position. Malcome was able to power his way into the end zone 3 plays later and Georgia headed to the locker room with a surprising 10-7 lead. After forcing a TCU INT in the 3rd quarter Murray connected with TE Orson Charles for a 14 yard TD and suddenly Georgia held a 17-7 lead.

But TCU was not finished and showed why they were ranked the 3rd best team in the country. Midway through the 4th quarter with Georgia trying to eat clock and yards, Malcome took a handoff and headed off left end when a TCU LB exploded on the scene and separated Malcome from the ball and suddenly TCU had the ball and new life. But the Georgia defense would not be denied as they stiffened and stopped TCU on downs in the red zone and the Dawgs slip out of town with a 17-7 upset win. The star of the game for Georgia was Aaron Murray who was 21 of 25 for 309 yards and 1 TD.

Week 10 – Disappointment in Jordan Hare

Auburn, Al – Week 10 saw the 10th ranked Bulldogs traveling to Jordan Hare for a matchup with rival Auburn, who was looking for their first SEC win and working to gain bowl eligibility. For the 2nd week in a row Georgia would face a good defense on the road without it top two rushers in Washaun Ealey (bruised shoulder) and Carlton Thomas (broken collarbone).

The first quarter had the feel of a heavy weight fight as each team was trying to get a feel for the game. Georgia struck first on the last play of the 1st quarter when Ken Malcome scored on a 13 yard scamper giving the Dogs a 7-0 lead going into the 2nd quarter. In the 2nd quarter the Tigers kept the Bulldog defense of balance mixing the pass and the run and tied the game at 7 when Trovon Reed scored on a 26 yard option. Georgia was able to counter late in the quarter when they drove into scoring range but was forced to settle for a 25 yard FG and a 10-7 halftime lead.

In the 3rd quarter the two teams continued to trade field position back and forth until Tiger QB Clint Mosley connected with Reed for his 2nd TD of the day on a 23 yard TD pass and a 14-10 lead. With the Auburn crowd going wild the Tigers defense could sense the Bulldogs were in trouble. With Georgia unable to establish a running game and forced to become one dimensional the Auburn defense began to pin their ears back and put heavy pressure on Aaron Murray. Auburn increased their lead to 21-10 early in the 4th quarter when Onterio McCalebb scored on a 2 yard run. But Bulldogs did not panic and continued to plug away and finally scored on a 2 yard run by Malcome with 1:56 remaining in the game. The Georgia coaching staff elected to go for the 2 point conversion and cut the Auburn lead to 3 points. The play of the game came during Auburn’s ensuing drive as Georgia kicked deep and with 3 timeouts was looking to force a 3 and out. After the first two plays the things were going to plan for Georgia until on 3rd and long the Tigers took advantage of an over aggressive Georgia defense and ran the option to perfection and picked up the first down. After one last time out from Georgia, Auburn took a knee and sealed a hard fought 21-18 win over the 10th ranked Bulldogs and kept alive their bowl hopes.

After the game a disappointed Coach uagrad90 said “we did a poor job on defense, and Auburn deserves all the credit for that. We have got to be disciplined and play our position and roles. We also have got to get better on offense especially running the ball. I know we have two very good players out but that is no excuse, we need the guys behind them to step up and take advantage of their opportunity. We’ll get better but we are very disappointed but you must give Auburn all the credit as they came into the game with a plan and stuck to it. ”

The Bulldogs will have little time to feel sorry for themselves as they return home to face the Ole Miss Rebels in week 11.

Week 11 – #22 Bulldogs Find Their Running Game

Athens – Heading into week 11 Georgia was hopeful that Washun Ealey would be able to shake off the bruised shoulder and add a boost to the struggling Georgia offense. Georgia entered the game with Ole Miss ranked 22nd in the land after last week’s disappointing performance against Auburn. But fortunately for the Bulldog nation, Ealey was able to play and the struggling Georgia offense found its legs.

The Rebels opened the game with a very methodical and time consuming drive that ended when Rose connected on a 21 yard FG with 49 seconds remaining in the opening quarter. Georgia responded on their first possession of the game behind the strong running of Ealey and the pin point passing of Aaron Murray. The Bulldogs took the lead 7-3 when Murray hit Ealey flaring out of the back field for a 15 yard TD strike. Georgia as able to stop the ensuing Rebel drive and Georgia begin a drive of their own toward the end of the half. Georgia increased their lead to 14-3 when Murray found Marlon Brown open from 18 yard out.

The Bulldogs received the kick to start the 3rd quarter and they responded with nice drive that mixed the pass and run and ended when Ealey raced around right end from 2 yard out for his 2nd TD on the day. Any chances of a Rebel comeback ended when Mike Riley picked off an Ole Miss pass and returned it 45 yard for the score.

The remainder of the game was spent running out the clock and trying to keep Ole Miss out of the end zone. Ole Miss last chance to score ended when the Georgia defense put pressure on Stanley and forced an incomplete pass on 4th down inside the Georgia 20 yard line.

For the day Araron Murray went efficient 11 for 11 for 172 yards and 2 TDs. Washun Ealey in his return rushed for 101 yards on 17 carries and 1 TD while also hauling in 2 passes for 37 yards and another TD.

With the win Georgia moves to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in the SEC. Next up Georgia will be at home as Top 10 Vanderbilt comes to Athens. But unfortunately for the Bulldogs Vanderbilt will be traveling to Athens coming off a upset loss to Florida.

Week 12 – UGA Not Quite Ready to Challenge to Crown

Athens – Georgia entered week 12 looking to build from their strong showing against Ole Miss as they prepared to host #6 Vanderbilt. The Doors were coming off a heartbreaking loss to Florida and the Bulldogs were ready to show they should be considered a serious contender for the SEC East crown. The day could not have not started any better for Georgia, when on the first play from scrimmage Washaun Ealey went off left tackle for 80 yards and an early 7-0 lead. The bulldog defense fired up from the Ealey run forced a Vanderbilt punt on their first possession. But the high powered Vanderbilt offense was not going to be shut down and with 1:03 left in the opening quarter Wesley Tate tied the game at 7 all with a 7 yard TD run. For the rest of the first half both teams took turns putting together drives only to be stopped or committing a turnover. The biggest may have been midway thru the 2nd quarter when Georgia had driven deep into Vanderbilt territory only to see the Doors intercept an Aaron Murray pass t the goal line.

In the 3rd quarter Vanderbilt began to flex their muscle as the Vanderbilt defense continued to frustrate the Georgia offense while the Vanderbilt offense began to hit stride. Vanderbilt scored two more TDs in the 3rd quarter on a 9 yard pass and a 2 yard run bring their lead to 21-7 going into the final period. In the 4th quarter Vanderbilt increased their lead to 28-7 on a 7 yard Tate run. Georgia ended the scoring for the day when Ealey scored on a 6 yard run with 36 seconds remaining to make the final count 28-14. Washaun Ealey had a big game for the Bulldogs as he rushed for 138 yards on 13 carries but Georgia was unable to provide much aerial support as Murray was paltry 15 for 21 for 163 yards and 2 interceptions.
Next week the Georgia Bulldogs close regular season play as bitter rival Georgia Tech come to Athens

Week 13 – Coach uagrad90 Closes out Georgia Career on a High Note
    [IMG]
Athens – Senior day for the Bulldogs was dampened following the game when it was learned that Coach uagrad90 would be leaving the Bulldogs and going home to take over at the University of Alabama following the resignation of Coach bamagrad. The only comment from Coach uagrad90 after the game was “just as Coach Bryant stated in the 50’s, when Momma calls you must answer”. As for the final game for the Georgia Seniors, Bulldogs came out and methodically applied a 28-0 shutout to the rival Jackets. Georgia scored twice in the first quarter when Aaron Murray found Tavaree King for a 32 yard TD and Washaun Ealey hauled in a screen pass from Murray and raced 30 yards for the score. Georgia extended their lead to 21-0 in the 2nd quarter when Ealey scored on a 1 yard run. The bulldogs closed out the scoring in the final quarter when Chris Smith connected on a 34 yard FG.
