Georgia gets the Bama monkey off their back with a shutout, SEC Title

Georgia played perhaps their greatest defensive game of all time in holding the Alabama Crimson Tide to 156 yards of total offense in a 37-0 shutout win. Alabama, who has made sure the Bulldogs' season ended in tears at least twice in this dynasty just couldn't muster much on offense or defense against these talented Bulldogs.

Crimson Tide QB James McLaughlin had rubber legs and he just couldn't get composed in the pocket. He also couldn't find any receivers, and what resulted was 11 sacks by a hungry Georgia defense.

"I've never seen anything like that one," said Coach Hellisan. "We were creating angles, getting guys loose off the edge, coming up the middle, blitzing, getting coverage sacks, you name it."

Joe Roland hit a pair of 51-yard field goals in the first quarter as Georgia took a 6-0 lead. A Willie Hall interception set up the second field goal.

Late in the first quarter Murray decided to get aggressive against a defense that was playing the safeties up close in an aggressive zone. A quick pump fake got Shawn Lee wide open and Murray hit him for a 58-yard strike and a 13-0 lead. Early in the first quarter Murray found Lee all again against zero coverage, and Lee split the Alabama defense cleanly for a 72-yard touchdown and a 20-0 lead. A Joe Roland field goal took Georgia into halftime with a 23-0 lead.

Two big plays in the third quarter were all Georgia needed to salt this game away, as Murray threw a beautiful ball to Michael Outlaw on a wheel route. Alabama left him all alone and he managed to drag a couple of defenders into the end zone 66 yards later. Just over a minute later, Tanner Jenkins would intercept Mclaughlin and bust out of a tackle, going 61 yards for another score and a 37-0 final.

    SEC Championship Contributors:

    QB N. Murray: 13-21, 322 Yards, 3 TD, 0 INT, 4 sacks

Hats off to Georgia...there will be a strong conternder coming out of the SEC this year.

"Georgia's team and coach just outplayed us tonight." that was the one line statement provided by the Alabama coach.

Insiders are speculating big booster Alumni are none to happy with this seasons version of blowing title chances. A loss at home to UNC and a shut out to UGA, back to back lossess has Bama fans hiding out.

Something needs to change in 2016......
