    Week 1
    Georgia Tech- 13
    Pittsburgh- 10

Georgia Tech’s offense is always in danger of being sloppy and fumbling and can be explosive. But this time, they did not turn the ball over once. They ran for only 144 yards and just over 3.1 yards per carry. Pitt, also did not turn the ball over, and each team punted six times. K Mike Kelly punted well all game and made the winning kick as time expired. Next week Tech travels to Fresno State.

    Player Stats
    Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech’s pass and run were very impressive in their win at Fresno State, but their defense wasn’t so spectacular. GT was faced with a tough task in the first half. Early in the second quarter Fresno led 14-3 and had the ball inside the 25. Tech forced a fumble and ran away with the game from there. QB John Franz and his receivers came up big as he went 8-11 for 162 yards and 2 TD’s. They also ran for 223 yards.

    Stats
    Georgia Tech
John Franz (QB)- 8-11 for 162 yards, 2 TD.
Charles Perkins (HB)- 12 carries for 90 yards, TD
Anthony Washington (HB)- 11 carries for 90 yards, TD
John Rawlins (FB)- 10 carries for 21 yards. 36 yard TD reception
Nate Simmons (WR)- 3 receptions for 26 yards, TD
Colt Lott (TE)- 2 receptions for 46 yards
Marcus Smith (WR)- 2 receptions for 54 yards
Ernest Bailey (DE)- 8 tackles, 2 TFL, sack, FF
Michael Joyce (OLB)- 7 tackles, sack, FF
Paul Nicholas (CB)- 6 tackles, sack
Ryan Ayers (CB)- 3 tackles, KR TD

    Fresno State
Marcus McDade (QB)- 16-25 for 320 yards, 4 TD
EJ Schexnayder (HB)- 16 carries for 83 yards
Lester Fontenette (WR)- 6 receptions for 160 yards, 2 TD
Courtney Weber (MLB)- 19 tackles, 2 TFL

The MLB's just rack up tackles against my offense

From start to finish I was dominated. Good thing he didn’t do anything after halftime because it would have been ugly. FSU played very well, and Georgia Tech couldn’t help but notice who the MVP is for the Yellow Jackets. And that player is injured QB John Franz. Backup Doug Forte had just an embarrassing game accounting for 3 turnovers. FSU played well and is a strong contender in the ACC. GT is now 2-2 and 0-2 in the ACC and it looks to be similar to last year in Atlanta when they were 6-7. QB Franz is expected back next week.

    Stats
    Georgia Tech
Doug Forte (QB)- 4-10 for 25 yards, INT, (-31) rush yards, 2 fumbles
Charles Perkins (HB)- 8 rushes for 52 yards
Anthony Washington (HB)- 8 rushes for 21 yards
    Michael Joyce (OLB)- 10 tackles
Brian Horne (FS)- 7 tackles, 2 TFL
Ryan Ayers (CB)- 4 tackles, 2 INT

    FSU
Clint Trickett (QB)- 14-25 for 195 yards, 3 INT
Mark Fry (HB)- 22 rushes for 117 yards, 2 TD
Jeremiah Pierce (WR)- 4 receptions for 52 yards
Randy Rhodes (DE)- 6 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks
Matt Tate (CB)- 1 tackle, 1 INT

The Yellow Jackets bounced back nicely after their crushing loss at Florida State. QB John Franz returned from injury, but only played the 2nd quarter. It was 0-0 in the 2nd when Franz entered the game. That doesn’t mean he didn’t play well. Franz passed for 2 TDs in just 3 pass attempts . The defense forced all kinds of turnovers and the running game was spread all over for Tech. GT now has 7 INT’s in their last 2 games. Next up for Tech is a road matchup with #12 North Carolina. Georgia Tech can turn the season around with a W.

    Games Stats
    Georgia Tech
John Franz (QB)- 3-3 for 129 yards, 2 TD
Doug Forte (QB)- 1-2 for 22 yards, TD
Anthony Washington (HB)- 21 carries for 101 yards
Charles Perkins (HB)- 11 carries for 76 yards, TD
Deon Hill (HB)- 8 carries for 73 yards, TD
Justin Cox (HB)- 2 carries for 5 yards, TD
Bryan Moody (WR)- 2 receptions for 96 yards, 2 TD
Marcus Smith (WR)- 53 yard TD reception
Tony Avery (CB)- 8 tackles, INT
Michael Joyce (OLB)- 5 tackles, 2 TFL, 2 sacks, INT, FR, TD
Ryan Ayers (CB)- 2 tackles, INT
Benjamin Clark (SS)- 2 tackles, INT
Jeremiah Attaochu (OLB)- 7 tackles, 2 TFL, sack, FF

    UConn

I had to leave so I don’t really have all the stats and analysis for this great game. This was possibly the best user game I’d ever played. GT was down I think by 21 at one point in the game and came back to take the lead with about 3 minutes left. UNC scored and GT couldn’t get the ball moving. I almost pulled the upset of the season and the comeback of the season over #9 North Carolina on the road. Unfortunately, I am now 3-3, and 0-3 in the ACC. 2 tough, tough losses, 1 in OT to VT and this one. Duke next week and then I’m ready to take a shot at Miami, who is still undefeated. Then I get a shot at Clemson. I’m looking forward to next year, but I know my team has the talent to run the table. Let’s hope so.

Georgia Tech was very upset after its loss at North Carolina and wanted to make a statement vs. Duke. And that’s exactly what they did, leading 41-0 at halftime, rushing for 394 yards, and winning the turnover battle 4-0. Just about every halfback on Tech’s roster got a few carries in the second half. GT is 4-3 (1-3) and host Miami in week 8.

Since Georgia Tech changed its playbook from Navy to Run Balanced, they've scored 148 point in 3 games (49.3 AVG) . Good advice

    Player Stats
John Franz (QB)- 3-7 for 45 yards, 5 rushes for 75 yards, TD
Charles Perkins (HB)- 16 rushes for 141 yards, TD
Anthony Washington (HB)- 13 rushes for 100 yards, 3 TD
Deon Hill (HB)- 5 rushes for 58 yards, TD, interception returned 32 yards
Adam Ramsey (OLB)- 6 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack, safety
    Ernest Bailey (DE/MLB)- 4 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT, 1 FF

All I can say is I got killed, couldn't stop his run or his pass, and couldn't run or pass all game. I benched my starting QB because he couldn't throw, well my backup couldn't throw either. Miami is a definite nation title contender and GT just drops another game

    Stats
    GT
John Franz (starting QB)- 9-16 for 95 yards, INT
Doug Forte (backup QB)- 4-9 for 28 yards, 2 INT, 28 rush yards
Anthony Washingotn (HB)- 15 rushes for 74 yards
John Rawlins (FB)- 3 rushes for 5 yards, TD
Bryan Moody (WR)- 3 receptions for 65 yards

    UM
Blake Bell (QB)- 12-17 for 258 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT
Eduardo Clemente (HB)- 23 rushes for 275 yards, 4 TD
Adam Wilcox (WR)- 5 receptions for 138 yards, 2 TD
Travis Williams (OLB)- 9 tackles, pick six

Down 21-0 in the first quarter at Death Valley against the 19th ranked Clemson Tigers, Tech never quit even with their 4-4 record. The defense stepped up with 2 touchdowns and 7 sacks. The Tech running game was very slow, so John Franz put up huge numbers passing for 301 yards, 247 at halftime. Georgia Tech also was in a tough spot down 31-21 with 10 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, and Clemson was in FG range. That's when CB Ryan Ayers picked off a pass and returned it for a TD. Tech's D stepped up after that and they came up tih crucial stops on 3rd and forth down all 4th quarter. Ayers also took the lead for GT with a 90 yard punt return for a TD.

CB Ryan Ayers made his case for defensive POY is this game. Ayers deflected 3 passes, had 3 tackles, and a 73 yard INT return for a TD. On top of that, he played great on special teams. He had 4 kick returns for a 28.7 average, and 3 punt returns for a 41.3 average including a 90 yard TD.

Star DE Anthony Williams also made a case for Defensive POY, racking up 5 tackles (3 for loss), 2 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.

    Game Stats
John Franz (QB)- 15-26 for 301 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT
Anthony Washington (HB)- 21 rushes for 93 yards
Charles Perkins (HB)- 4 rushes for 21 yards, 5 yard TD reception
Bryan Moody (WR)- 4 receptions for 90 yards
Nate Simmons (WR)- 2 receptions for 75 yards, TD
Colt Lott (TE)- 4 receptions for 66 yards
Marcus Smith (WR)- 2 receptions for 55 yards
Jeremiah Attaochu (OLB)- 9 tackles, 2 sacks
Tony Avery (CB)- 2 tackles, 21 yard fumble return TD

This is the game that counted
    GT 56
    Clemson 20

Georgia Tech improves to 5-4 as Clemson was not able to stop the GT running game or CB/KR/PR Ryan Ayers. Tech had their best running day of the season running for a total of 411 yards on just 13 carries. GT was up 42-10 at half behind a punt return and interception TD. Their defense won the game forcing Clemson QB Ryan Butler to throw 5 interceptions.

The first time I played, Ryan Ayers mad his case for defensive POY, well he did it again. This time Ayers intercepted 2 passes, and returned one for a TD. He had 3 tackles and almost returned a kickoff for a TD. And Ayers had a 83 yard punt return for a TD.

    Game Stats
    GT
John Franz (QB)- 5-8 for 70 yards, TD, 29 rush yards
Doug Forte (QB)- 1-1 for 20 yards
Charles Perkins (HB)- 20 rushes for 225 yards, 3 TD
Anthony Washington (HB)- 9 rushes for 150 yards, 2 TD
Colt Lott (TE)- 2 receptions for 64 yards
Marcus Smith (WR)- 2 receptions for 17 yards, TD
Adam Ramsey (OLB)- 3 tackles, 1 INT
Brian Horne (FS)- 6 tackles, 1 INT
Benjamin Clark (SS)- 5 tackles, 1 INT

    Clemson
Ryan Butler (QB)- 32-41 for 388 yards, 2 TD, 5 INT
Bryson McKenzie (HB)- 10 rushes for 32 yards
Antonio Nichols (WR)- 4 receptions for 102 yards

GT signed thier first 4 star prospect in WR Jasper Smith (6'1", 189), B- speed, looking at his rankings he looks more like a 3 star prospect but I'll take it since I can't really sign anybody who's good.

My only other 4 star prospect interested is definitely coming to play at Tech. 5'11", 200 lbs. power HB with B speed and A+ acceleration.

Just an average recruiting year for Tech, but I expect to win more games next season.

Not enough time for a full write-up but Tech easily had Virginia behind the the almost perfect arm of John Franz.

Anthony Washington (HB)- 37 carries for 129 yards. TD

Nate Simmons (WR)- 3 receptions for 57 yards
Adam Carr (TE)- 35 yard reception TD

Yet again, star CB, and defensive POY candidate Ryan Ayers saved the day for Georgia Tech. After UGA scored to take a 4 point lead with under 30 seconds, Ayers returned the kickoff for a TD giving the Yellow Jackets their 8th victory of the season. That was Ayers 3rd TD in the 4th quarter of a game this season, with GT losing by either 3 or 4 points.

Tech improved their record for 6-7 last season to 8-4 with the bowl game yet to be played.
