COSTLY WIN FOR ILLINI
Illinois came out and dominates the game on the ground. Ford ran all over the yellow jackets with 24 carries 213yds and 4tds. He had a 95 yd rd run. The illini lost sheelhaase for 3 weeks early in the game and had to avoid the passing game. They three 9-16 116yds 1td and ran as a team 40 for 260yds and 4tds. Millinies also returned a kickoff for a rd in this one. The offense had no turnovers which is always a key and the defense got one fumble. It was a very good first game of the year but we wanted to be more balanced. It was really hard when losing ur #1qb early but still managed to throw the ball. The illini play Clemson next week which won't be fun at all without their qbs but will try to keep it close.
GAME 1 FS 20-17 CINCY'
Coach Leather Helmets made his debut as the FS OC and came away with a OT victory in a game that desipte throwing 3 interceptions, one inside the
red zone, the Bulldogs dominated.
Key players/Stats: FS: Dave Carr, was 24-35 for 235 yards as Cincy played the deep ball, leaving the short zones open. The three ints thrown were just poor, forced throws...
At running back Robbie Rouse was 33/134 yards and 1 TD....longest run was 12 yards so he had to work for those yards
Cincy: Only real threat was Zack C, QB...who despite being 8/22 had two TDS that kept Cincy in the game, one of which was in OT
FS tied the game on a FG with 50 seconds in the game......then in OT Cincy scored a TD on a pass and then FS ran a score in...
On the next possession FS got to 3 and 5...went for a FG which was good.....game over
Game Notes: First time as a OC..so real different in watching the defense.....also was real surprized that the CPU takes over when its 4th down, regardless where you are are on the field?.......was inside the Cincy 30 a couple of times, 4-1....not able to go for first....so unless I am missing something that really changes your play calling from the standpoint of picking up a first down....have to on 3rd, even though you might be in the redzone?....will CPU take over and kick a FG?
its the Head Coach's call on 4th... the first time around I was Utah State in the opening game of the year versus defending champ Auburn, less than one minute to go I hand 3rd and Goal from the 15 after a holding penalty completed down to inside the 1. 4th and goal score was Auburn 31-28, and they kicked the FG instead of going for the win, and did the same thing in OT! I was hot because there was no way the defense could stop Auburn, and my running game would have scored, tough loss but such is the life of an OC because you do not have full control except in user games. Nice win!
If you go no huddle and press triangle after the 3rd down play you can go for it on 4th
So to be clear.....as soon as 3rd down play is done, hit the triangle...then you would audible at the line, based on the def., which is probably playing the run
Or do you have to run no huddle, prior to the 3rd down play, then no huddle again?
Thats all you do. I just hold down triangle at the end of the play and then it goes to no huddle options for 1 play. Sometime if your in a shotgun and you switch to an I form you may have a WR playing FB but for a yard dive it can work.
Thanks...really helps with the playing calling as for the rest of game I got the mind set I had to pick up a 1st down....when I was inside the 30, on 3rd down, as opposed to having the option of going for it on 4th.......especially when you have been driving, could pick it up
Pitt Roars to Their 1st Victory63 yard TD to ShanahanThe Panthers came into their 1st game heavy favorites and in this game they proved the experts right. The defense came up with a total of 8 sacks in this game. Many of the scores by Pitt came on long passes. Two passes to Shanahan one for 63 yards and the other one for 91 yards both resulted for TDs. A huge run was busted by Ray Graham which went for 62 yards and made the score 31-10. The final score of this game was 34-10. This victory makes the Panthers 1-0 on the year as they will head out to Fresno State and take on the 1-0 Bulldogs.
91 yard TD to Shanahan
Fans Fuel the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are overjoyed after a home win against arch-rival UL Monroe
LA Tech gets off to a great start this season, going 1-0 by way of a victory in Ruston over cross-state rival ULM. The heavy rains played a factor early on, as both teams traded punts back and forth and the scoring ice wasn't broken until just seconds before halftime as Tech would get on the board first with a 1 yard TD run by HB Lennon Creer. Creer would score his second TD of the day early in the 4th quarter, capping off 22 carry, 73 yard performance before leaving the game with a minor injury. The Bulldogs would score another TD but this time from the defense when SS Michael Schrang would recover a fumble of ULM's QB Kolton Browning in the end zone off of a strip-sack by IK Enemkpali. Browning would try to bring the Warhawks back with 2 TDs late in the game, but failed at both 2 point conversions. In the end, ULM just didn't have enough time to complete the comeback and Louisiana Tech would hold on for the 21-12 win and a 1-0 start to the season.
Fg redwings in a defensive battle neither team could move the ball very well. Clemson had 185 total yard of offense and Illinois had 112. The only rd in the game came from a punt return by Ramsey and Illinois would force 4 interceptions. Sadly Clemson qb would be knocked out pf this game for 3 weeks and we know how that feels as we are without our qb still. Final score was Illinois 13 Clemson 6
KNIGHTS SLIP BY GATORS 22-21
The UCF Golden Knights upset the #19 Florida Gators Saturday night in Orlando, Florida. The ground game was king as HB Bryant Harvey led the attack with 96 yards on 18 carries. Led by a ball control offense and a bend but don't break defense UCF was able to pull the upset off due to one big play...
Pitt 24-0 FS....the Bulldogs were like puppies in this one as Pitt totally dominated the game...The Pitt defense picked off 2 passes and recovered a fumble on a QB sack.
David Carr, QB...could only muster 99 yards on 7 of 18 passes...and the rushing attack was nothing as a total of 12 yards were gained....On the defense side the Bulldogs
could not stop the Pitt passing attack giving up 247 yards, 2 long TD passes....we did get 1 pick...
So the Bulldogs fall to 1-1...next game is Idaho, a conference game....
Game note: Entered the game thinking I would just call the offense....as OC., yet it appeared no option to do so, as it was a normal user to user game look, unless I missed something?........probably would have better if the cpu had called the defense!
Terps win home opener against Miami
Maryland got a nice balanced attack out of their offense to defeat the Hurricane's at home, the first game of coach JHUJAY career ends in a big win for the school.
Sophomore sensation Danny O'Brien passed for 12/34 232 yds 3TD 1INT, O'Brien is really looking forward to improving his completion percentage in the upcoming games. Senior Devin Meggett led the ground game with 102 yds and a TD.
After tying the game at 27 in the beginning of the 4th QTR, the Terps defense was able to get enough stops to get the ball back for the end of the game. Scoring the winning touchdown with 42 seconds left, the Terps left not much time on the clock for the U to come back
Pitt Stuffs the Bulldogs
Pitt owned the dogs today on both side of the ball. Holding the Bulldogs to 99 yards passing and causing 3 turnovers. As for the offensive the clicked from the start. On the first play from scrimmage Ray Graham was hit open on a screen and went 60 yards for the score. The Panthers had the ball for over 16 minutes in this game and proved that they are here to play. The final score of this game was 24-0. Pitt improves to 2-0 on the season and will head back to Hinze Field for their first home game vs UCF who are coming off a 1 point win over the Gators.
Pitt Improves to 3-0 on the SeasonHolley 1st of 2 ints
Both offense and defense played well in this game. The defense picked of the UCF qb 3 times in this game which really aided in this victory. Two big passes for TDs really powered the offense. One on a screen to Ray Graham for 41 yards. The other on a play action to Devin Street this one for 61 yards. This win was big for the Panthers they will head out to ND and look to improve to 4-0 on the year.
Street 61 yard catch
Yeah user games are same as always...
The Bulldogs got their 2nd win of season over Idaho and now are at 2-1...1-0 conf., in the season. Final score 28-21.
Carr had two tds and 1 pick. The Bulldogs scored a rushing TD and tied the game at 21 on a punt return, sim, 2:21 left in the game, held on defense...and scored the winning TD with 1:42 left in the game.
Game note: Being just the OC, makes for a short game...when you only run the offense seems like its hard to get the feel of the game overall...thinking I need to start watching the def. plays....
ILLINI Defense plays hugeIllini played another great game defensively and needed it because without Scheelhaase the teams offense can't get the ball in the air. After holding Clemson to only 6 points the week before they took on LTU this week and held them to just 3 points and that was after an interception thrown by Osei in the first quarter. Illinois held LTU to a total of 137 yds total offense. Illini could only muster up 154 yds total offense and committed 3 turn overs. 1 fumble towards end of the game when the defender dived so they could run out clock. They also had 2 interceptions thrown. Ford would run one in for a td and the defense would force 5 interceptions returning 1 for a td. LTU ran 17 times for 8yds as the Dline of the Illini dominated the line of scrimmage as they have all year. They had 3 sacksand 5 TFl. Up next is the big ten season and te Hated Rival Northwestern.
Final ScoreLTU 3Illini 17
Luckily for UCF the only player worse than their own QB was Jarrett Lee playing QB for LSU. An early pick six thrown by Lee gave UCF an early lead that it nursed home to victory despite a putrid offensive effort. Junior HB Brynn Harvey led the Knights with 126 yards and a touchdown despite being the only weapon firing in this inept offense. Good game by the D, next up is a user game versus Maryland.
Illinois had to play rival Northwestern this week and oonce again Scheelhaase was out. It was a tough fought game and the Illini would come away with a 34-28 victory. The no huddle hurt the defense as they had little answers at all. at least they were able to get a couple turnovers one int and a 4th down inside the 10. ord ran 32 times for 119yds and 2 tds. Up next is @ Indiana for the unbeaten Illini who are looking to break into the top 25 this wee

Maryland defeats #20 UCF 45-38 in a thriller!
This game was pretty wild. MD threw a pick 6 on their first possession, then couldnt get anything going on offense to go down 17-0 early. The Terps offense then came storming back scoring 21 unanswered going into the half.
In a game where the score was 42-24 with less then 5 minutes in the 4th Qtr, UCF scored 14 points in the final 2:30 and recovered an onside kick after making the score 38-45. With the ball and about 40 seconds to go UCF had a chance to bring the game to overtime. But a forced pass from UCF caused an interception and Maryland was able to capture the victory.
These teams had almost equal yardage, but amassed it oppositely. UCF had 515 team yard, MD 546. But UCF did it all through the air, they could not get the ground game going against the Terps defense. UCF QB Jeff Godfrey passed for 388 and 3 TDS, although he threw 3 picks. Quincy McDuffie had 4 catches for 275 for a whopping avg of 68ypc. big deep threat for UCF.
Maryland did it on the ground for most of the game with Devin Meggett ammassing 275 yards an 4 tds on 25 carries.
UCF fought till the end, it was the first time I have ever seen an onside kick recovered. Great game mikedredd
it was a great game, one of the first times I could not run the ball for anything, UCF needs some offensive help, recruits you listening? lol
Pitt Wins an OT Thriller
Game Winning FGBoth teams fought hard in this game. As the game started with two ints for Pitt's strong defense. The first int went all the way back for a touchdown. At half the Panthers went in the locker room up 10-0. The offence for the Panthers went silent in the 3rd. The Irish managed to score a TD while the offence. They would manage to take the lead in the 4th as the score was 17-10 Irish going into the Panthers last drive. Tino Sunseri with drive them down the field and with 6 second left on the clock Suneri would hit Graham to tie the game with 2 ticks left on the clock. Both teams would score TDs on the opening drive in OT. The defense would stand strong as the Irish would miss the FG. Which left the game up to the Nate Harper as he would nail the FG to win the game.
