Cowboys knock off division rival; win 5th straight

After week 2 the Cowboys were in a dark dark place. After Romo turned in 2 awful performances the team looked to be on their way out. 5 weeks later the Cowboys are a half game out the division an a force to be reckoned with in the NFL.

The Cowboys elected to receive and jumped out on their rival early with a TD with a Romo to Bryant connection. A connection the would prove to be a deadly connection all day for the Giants. The Cowboys would play great defense and Romo would connect with Miles for a second to go up 14-0 in the first.

As the game went into the second the Giants started to show they wouldn't go out without a fight. A long drive ending in a Victor Cruz TD would make it a 1 possession game then late in the second after the Giants would come through with a big defensive stop as the Cowboys got into Giants territory but couldn't covert, they would catch Dallas in a blitz and Manning connected with Beckum for a 76 yard hook up setting up a Bradshaw TD to tie the game right before halftime.

Dallas came out in the second half just like the first and scored on their first possession as Romo found Witten short and caught New York blitzing. The Giants again responded quickly though with a David Wilson 78 yard TD run, his only touch of the game. 2 big plays for the Giants in situations where Dallas blitzed taking a big risk and missed.

Tied 21-21 Dallas showed no let up taking the ball and scoring right back on the next possession. What was a defensive battle had turned into a good ole' Texas shootout. The Giants looked to respond right back but Dallas stood firm with the first stop in the second half. Dallas then got the ball and looked to take another 2 score lead. The Giants played great defense but Dallas was still able to move the ball. A Justin Tuck sack would set up a 3rd an 18 from the Dallas 40. Romo would hook up with Witten deep down the sideline for 22 yards, however, a flag. A flag was thrown after the ball had been released. Romo and Garrett started flipping out on the refs but no available.

The holing penalty would set up a 3rd and 28 and our Nissan turning play of the game. "You know I had no plan for this play I told someone to get open and I'll do my best" said Romo of the play. Dez Bryant despite being double covered did just that and caught the ball at the Dallas 20 for a first down. Dallas would have to settle for a FG but with 5 minutes left they had a nice 10 point lead. 2 Plays later Ernie Simms would add an interception return for a touchdown to seal the game.

Romo threw for a season high 416 yards and had 3 receivers reach 100+ yards including Bryant who had 7 receptions for 153 yards which gives him back to back weeks of over 120 receiving yards. Bryant also has match his first 5 weeks of receiving with just his last 2 games and is truly breaking out. The Giants and Cowboys both top the NFC and will likely meet again at some point done the line, it will be interesting to see how both teams adjust.
