Having spinal fusion surgery tomorrow to fuse my L4 and L5 vertebrae. Too bad NCAA isnt coming out tomorrow. I'll have a lot of time to lay around and do nothing for the next several weeks.

Real men don't need spinal fusion surgery...they just rub some dirt on it and walk it off...

Dr said it went "beautifully.". Feels like I've been hit by a Mack truck. I know it's silly, but after operating on my spine I was so relieved to be able to wiggle my toes. That was a fear. Got the morphine drip right now.

My wife had fusion in her neck, it took her a while to be 100%.

Don't know. It started hurting my soph year @ Tech, about 8 years ago. Pain would come and go. Then it started staying longer and longer. About 2 years ago it was painful more often than not and I had an MRI done. It was pretty much bone on bone and what was left was out of place. Still, I didn't want surgery. Then about a month ago it got much worse. The day it hindered my bedroom maneuvers was the day I looked up and found the best spine surgeon in the country. I decided it was worth the risk to be able to move and exercise and play with my kids. I've probably put on about 60 pounds in the last 3 years because I haven't been able to work out. Diet and other things have definitely factored in, too; I'm not blaming my weight entirely in the back. But I've gone from 6'2 220 to 280 in three years. Dr said I'd be able to participate fully in sports or whatever in 3-6 months. Can't wait.

My brother had the same surgery. Good luck and make sure you rehab intelligently.
