Whoever told you that all world stuff straight lied to you. And Lichaj has been ok, but i still rate Timmy Chandler. But youre right about Agudelo, hell be a mainstay in the USMNT fro quite a while. Im intersted to see where/who buys him. He wont be in the MLS for long.
Well Chandler is more of a RB/RM anyhow so Lichaj is more than likely gonna be the future LB for the USMNT.
Holy crap. The starting lineup: 1-Howard, 3-Bocanegra-C, 4-Bradley, 6-Cherundolo, 8-Dempsey, 10-Donovan, 13-Jones, 14-Lichaj, 20-Adu, 21-Goodson, 22- Bedoya
Adu is BACK!!!!!! I hope he plays well because I wasn't sure of him being fit for 90 minutes after Panama. Legends are born from these situations. I hope he pulls it off. We are matching Mexico 4-4-1-1.
Freddie is finally playing to the hype. However, I knew we were screwed when Churundolo went out for Bornstein. HE IS SO TERRIBLE...why in the hell does Bradley keep inviting him back?
3-2. We might be fucked. Sadly I must watch on non-HD FSC. My cable provider needs to get their ass in gear.
I think that this is a different game with Churundolo back there. Bornstein got used ALL GAME. Bornstein should be playing LM he's got good feet, but his defense is terrible. Every MEXICAN attack came on that left side. Mexico is a better team and I respect them a lot because they are not just sitting back. They are trying to bury the US even further. US had their chances but in the end Mexico just has too much talent.
This is the Confed Cup all over again. Four unanswered goals. Adu is back though I can live with it knowing he I'll see him wear a US shirt again.
Sad thing that when US offense got a good start, unfortunate injury puts Bornstein in. At half time I was wondering if Bradley would have the balls to take him out, unfortunately not. It's nice to see Adu showing some brilliance. I think he's that guy that's a little costly in some ways to have on the field, but he also is the guy that can do things that lead to good things that others are not capable of. If you have the right people around him to compensate for his weaknesses, he's a must in this team. He's got the flare the others don't. I didn't realize FSC didn't have the same angles. I was doing my classic, HD on hispanic channel in the living room while blasting the sound of FSC from the bedroom. No FSC HD problem solved for Gold Cup at least.
This tournament showed flaws in our defense and also Bob's poor roster choices. I hope Sunil finds the balls to try something new.
im no soccer junky but with all those midfielders out there for us shouldn't we have dropped back into some kind of 4-4-2 after going up 2-0 with both our wing backs playing out of position. we would have forced mexicer to dribble through us instead of run into space and put our back line on their heels the whole game. also may help with our possesion and given us more opportunity to counter attack into all the wide open spaces we had in the mid. just seemed like bradley and jones had no chance to get in the game as we never forced mexicers attack into the middle, they just kept attacking all the space they had on the wings. also are you allowed to constantly push people in the back right before they are about to receive the ball? i dont know.......
I think we would have had a better shot if Bradley would have just stuck to my plan. Play a 10-1, let it end in 0-0 and hope Howard can best the other keeper in PKs.
The problem was from the start the Defense and Midfield were disorganized. They could cope with the speed Mexico attack us with so we were constantly out of position and leaving holes or players free. In this game we missed Timmy Chandler, Jose Torres, Mix Diskerud all players that can possess the ball and slow the game down. Today showed that our front 3 are decent. The problem is when we lose the ball the wheels just fall apart. Today we needed goals in the second and who were our options, Sacha Kljestan who we know is crap and Juan Agudelo who we know is a good player, but that was it. Those three guys I mentioned offer you so much more, but they weren't called in. Teal Bunbury is also a guy who can play. Very similar for Altidore. What I find interesting is that we got beat today by two guys that cannot get minutes at their club sides. Yet they are shown faith by their manager to perform for their country and they delivered. With us we have a guy like Freddy Adu who has a skill set that is such a novelty and is instead expected to be the second coming of Pelé. Gio and Adu broke through at the same U-20 World Cup in 07 and have experience different trajectories because one was shown a bit of faith and the other was not. This same situation is keeping players like Diskerud and Torres out in favor of the more athletic guys like Kljestan, Edu and Bedoya.
