    Gophers Rock the Rockets!

    #11 Minnesota 49 @ Toledo 14

Minnesota takes care of the cupcake. In past years, it has been Minnesota who played that role. Things have changed. The Gophers, through playing & recruiting have risen from a 3* school to a 6* school. The Gophers went on the road and unleashed the fury upon this unsuspecting MAC school. Jerry Tucker took over for Hasan Lipscomb & Jonathan Pittman. Greg Barnes helped him out on the day with 10 carries. Adrian Ford looked excellent in his 1st three passes. However, that would be all he would throw for the day. He was injured for the rest of the game in the 1st Quarter. Faced with a big test, Derek Luke, a red shirt Freshman answered the call. The Gopher coaching staff would play call to get the young man some reps before throwing him completely to the wolves. Yet, he handled the pressure on basic throws so they called for him to take a step up. He indeed handled that as well, the rest is history. I don't think we will see a quarterback controversy but we found our guy for next year. The defense was spectacular. Even though they gave up a good amount of yards, you could definitely tell they were prepared better than ever. Look for these Gophers to take care of business this year. We get our first test in Week 3 against the #1 USC Trojans(sdid22).

Week 1 under the new coach turned out to be an easy game.

    1st quarter
Cal takes the ball down the field and get a 1 yd run from Love (who finished the game with 17 carries 109 yds and this td run as he only played most of the first half) 7-0

Cal would get the ball back and score on a 16yd reception from Hart (who had 4 recs 74yds and 3tds) Wise (who was 7-12 136yds and 2td) threw a nice strike to hart making it 14-0

    2nd quarter
Cal would kick a fg then score 2 more tds one on Harts 2nd td this from 32yds out and backup rb Johnson (who was 23 carries 164yds 3td) on a 45yd run to make the score 31-0.

Tcu would answer finally with a 2yd run of their own making it 31-7

Starters were takin out for the rest of the game at this point in the 2nd quarter. Jonson would score on this drive from 1yd out making it 38-7 at halftime

    3rd quarter
Not much excitement here just run clock and Johnson would cap the drive with his 3rd td run this from 18yds out making it 45-7

    4th quarter
Curry would score from 2yds out for TCU making the score 45-14.

Cal adds a fg making it 48-14

Tcu would score one last time on a 5yd pass making final score 48-21

    Gophers Top Trojans!

    #1 USC 25 @ #9 Minnesota 38

Minnesota continues the unknown success by beating the #1 team in the nation. The Gophers were up 28-0 at one point. Pressured to calm the offense down to a more conservative approach let the Trojans storm back. Jerry Tucker has officially stamped his way onto the scene as he lit up the Trojan defense for more than 150 yards. Our defense played great early on, though it might not look it according to stats. USC went all out with the attack in the 2nd half. We aren't done yet. Only thing is, we can't sneak up on anybody anymore. From here on out people are gunning for us now.
