GOTW #6: Nevada @ Utah State

Utah State (utgamer27) vs. Nevada (nrg_qbz-_-)

WAC foes Utah State and Nevada battle it out in Logan this week. The Aggies will be looking for their first win of the season, while Nevada looks to improve their win streak to 3.

The Nevada Wolfpack lost a lot of firepower from last year’s offense and it is showed at the beginning of the season when the Wolfpack opened up with 3 straight losses. Coach nrg_qbz-_- has found a groove so far winning two straight in conference play and the Wolfpack find themselves in the middle of the conference title hunt.

    Utah State
The Aggies from Logan, UT have not lived up to expectations following a surprise 2010 run. In the midst of a 5 game losing streak the Aggies look to move from the bottom of the WAC. One bright so far this season is the Aggies passing game led by QB Jeff Fischer which is ranked third nationally, but redzone woes and a horrid defense has been the Aggies downfall so far.

    What to Watch For:

Aggies Passing Game vs. Wolfpack Secondary
The Aggies bring in #3 ranked passing offense in the nation led by QB Jeff Fischer and a trio of WR’s in Robert Turbin, Kellen Bartlett, and Austin Alder. Neveda’s secondary ranked near the bottom of the nation, will be tested early and often, if they pass the test it should be an easy win for the wolfpack.

    Aggies Defense
The Aggies bring in one of the worse defenses in the nation. Allowing at least 30pts in each game so far this season. If this unit has any success against the Nevada offense, in combination with the high-powered Aggies passing game, Utah State should notch its first win of the season

    Utah State 20 Nevada 35
I have Nevada taking this one to extend their win streak to 3 games, the Wolfpack defense will make the necessary stops in the game to against the Utah State offense. The Utah State offense should be able to do as it pleases between the 20’s, but the redzone woes will continue and the Aggies defense just does not have the talent to compete every week just yet.

    Fantastic write-up as usual, maij17!

Last season Utah State jumped up to an early 14-0 lead before Nevada poured it on. If Utah State jumps out early again this year, with this new Nevada team, that could be enough:eek:
