What a battle this should be. This week, GOW features the #4 Cal Golden Bears facing off with the #2 Michigan Wolverines. These teams have a recent memory of each other. Last year, this game was played for the Roses. Cal won the Rose Bowl and earned some bragging rights. However, a lot of that has been erased because of the Pac Ten's lack of play this year against the Big Ten.

Michigan comes into this one with dominating performances against the presently ranked #22 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and at Kansas State. In those two games they have excelled under the play of (RS)Senior Denard Robinson. D-Rob has went 9-14 for 249 yards passing with 3 touchdowns. Adding 190 yards on the ground on 17 attempts with 2 rushing touchdowns. The leading rusher is no slouch. Goes by the name of Vincent Smith. Dude has 20 carries for 222 yards with 5 touchdowns. The biggest concern for the Golden Bear defense, Mr. Smith averages 11.1 yards per carry.

Standing out with exceptional numbers at the QB position is Allan Bridgford. Looking at these stats, I think the Wolverines need to be concerned. Bridgford has been near perfect in the first two games going 47-55 for 656 yards with 8 touchdowns to 0 interceptions. Big time stats for a big time player. Not only can Cal air attack they also are able to pound the rock. Dasarte Yarnway is the key player for the Cal offense. Yarnway leads in the rushing & receiving categories. 42 attempts for 252 yards with 2 touchdowns on the ground. Complemented with 13 receptions for 143 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Saying this is a big game is a complete understatement. This has Major Bowl game implications. It has National Title contender & pretender written all over it. Who will rise to the occasion? Who will be one step closer to Bowlin' for Roses? Better yet, who will be holding the Crystal Football in the air at the end of the year? Tune in to see who will get the better shot.
