    #18 Michigan State @ #1 Iowa

Fresh off a loss to the Northwestern Wildcats, the Michigan State Spartans come limping into this big time match-up with the #1 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa definitely controls their own destiny with a win today. The Hawkeyes still have to go on the road to face the Spartan slayer in the Northwestern Wildcats and face off with the Ohio State a week later. Some are asking, "are they looking ahead?" Michigan State is fighting for their Big Ten lives, literally as they still have to meet Purdue and travel to Happy Valley to battle Ricky Bobby's Penn State Nittany Lions.

One thing is clear, Iowa is no doubt the favorite. With great backs like Adam Robinson, Brandon Wegher and Jewel Hampton, Iowa has quickly turned into a runningback U. Sort or like a pick your poison with these 3. Then of course you have Ricky Stanzi who seems to be coming into his own this year. Stanzi has weapons to back him up too. Marvin McNutt and Derrell Johnson-Koulianos are hard to cover over the middle and on the outside while TE Allen Reisner is a pest in the middle of the field that Mike loves to find. The defense needs no introduction. A strong, fierce group that always gets after the ball will be ready to create havoc and force turnovers.

Before the Northwestern game, things were looking great as can be for the Spartans. Kirk Cousins had the offense clicking on all cylinders. Only having 3 interceptions through 6 games. He threw 4 against the Wildcats that just simply deflated the chances of coming back. No run game forced the Spartans to hit the air more than usual with 40 pass attempts. Edwin Baker and the freshman Le Veon Bell are going to have to muster something up against the stingy Hawkeye defense but that is easier said than done. The receivers are going to have to step up as well. Getting open last week was a definite problem. The defense had been great but they got exposed by NU. They will have to regroup and see what they are truly made of.

    Game Thoughts:
    • Will Iowa overlook this troubled MSU squad?
    • Can Michigan State put together an offensive strategy?
    • Will the 3 amigos(A-Rob, Wegher and "Jewel") have a field day?
    • Can Kirk Cousins bounce back from his season worst 4 game interception last game?
    What are your opinions?

I've gotta go with Iowa here. Mike has too much, and he is too good with his Hawkeyes.

WSU vs. ASU GOTW #2.....huge matchup in Pullman. Was crossing my fingers to see it previewed here...haha. But hard to argue with the big game between the Spartans & Hawkeyes!
