New York overcomes Hardin's five picks to win on 76 yard hail mary catch by Santonio Holmes The New York Jets defeated the St. Louis Rams in the Edward Jones Dome 28-23 to move to 3-2 on the season. This is a game that the Jets should have lost. After rookie QB Steven Hardin's strong performances the last two weeks, he looked like a completely different player constantly trying to force throws to receivers. The St. Louis' secondary would make him pay by picking off the ball five times. In addition to the Rams' strong defensive play, QB Sam Bradford had a great game as well. Bradford went 14-19 with 275 yards, a touchdown pass, and an interception. Bradford spread the ball out with eight different Rams catching passes in the game. The Rams held a 17-7 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Jets quickly narrowed the gap with a rushing touchdown from Tim Tebow. St. Louis answered right back with a field goal to hold a 20-14 lead. With time ticking off of the clock, Hardin would slowly move his offense down the field but then stalled once getting into the redzone. On a 3rd and long on the Rams' 18 yard line, Hardin threw up a ball to WR Hunter Allen who made an amazing leaping catch over defenders in the end zone to put the Jets up 21-20 with just two minutes remaining. Bradford would be up for the challenge as he answered right back with a couple of quick first downs. The Jets were able to hold the offense on a few plays, but on a 4th down Bradford was able to pick up a blitz and hit his wide open running back for a huge game to put them in field goal position. With 9 seconds left on the game clock, kicker Greg Zuerlein hit a 38 yard field goal to put the Rams up 23-21 to seemingly put the game away. With only 9 seconds left, the Jets' best chance to comeback was a Darren Sproles kickoff return touchdown. Sproles was not able to get far as his cut was made straight into a defender to tackle him at New York's own 24 yard line. With four seconds on the clock, the Jets called a desperation hail mary play. As Hardin dropped back, somehow WR Santonio Holmes was able to run past the coverage. Hardin threw a deep bomb to the streaking receiver who was able to grab the long pass and run in the rest of the way to the endzone untouched for a stunning 28-23 win. GG pittrocks43. I feel a little guilty for beating you on that play. Good luck the rest of the season.
