Just so you know, the epitome of a 5-tool player would have to be Willie Mays over Ken Griffey Jr.

We were speaking in recent terms. There hasn't been a juice-free player like Griffey in his prime in the past 40 years.

Hypothetical... each player in their prime, who would you rather have, Griffey Jr. or Mays?

I've never seen Mays obviously. . .but I'm betting it would be close. Griffey more power, better arm. Mays better avg more speed. Both had about the same range defensively. Not sure who I'd take. Both were complete 5 tool players. . .that's rare. Both top 10 all time in my view.

You gotta pick somebody...they are both top 10 for sure, no question. Griffey is the best CF I've ever seen, but I'd take Mays...he's a Giant!

I never saw Mays, and Griffey was the best player I've ever watched still to this day. There's been a couple of better hitters (Bonds on the Juice, and Ichiro as a pure hitter) but no better all around player. And Griffey gets elevated because he was never using Steroids and still put up those numbers.

    So Griffey.
