Penn State coach JFosh was back on the sideline after serving a one week sideline suspension.

Coach was not able to even travel with the team against Rival Michigan State. Penn State ended up winning the game 27-16 despite only coverting on 5-23 3rd down conversions.

Penn State closed the season by holding on against North Carolina for a 28-21 win. The Nittany Lions ended the season winning 4 in a row pushing their record to 9-3.

The Nittany Lions are projected to head to the Capital One bowl to face SEC foe Arkansas.

From the recruting trail...things are winding down and the class should come in 12 strong with one spot being taken up by a kicker. There is not much left on Penn State's board. 5 star HB Lee Dawson soft committed this week. Penn State was not Dawson's first choice, Dawson looked to be headed to LSU but the Tigers pulled their scholarship offer. The #4 HB in country then decided to stay closer to home (Michigan St. may have arrived to the party a couple of weeks late in an attempt to keep him in-state). Dawson is the second fastest player in this years class and only WR Deon Spence (Norte Dame committ) clocked a faster 40 time.

2011 Opens with a wild one.

Penn State opening the season holding on to beat a fast and elusive FSU team.

FSU received the opening kick off and took it back for a TD. Penn St. would answer with a drive of their own. FSU would need only 2 plays from scrimmage to score their next TD on a sweep from 60 yards out. Penn St. could only manage a FG as they tried to keep pace. On the ensuing K.O., FSU was at it again running another one back to take the lead 21-10.

All this and still in the 1st quarter. Penn State caught a break late in the 1st quarter when QB EJ Manuel tried to connect on a short pass but was picked off and couldn't make a tackle to prevent a TD.

That play seemed to shift the momentum in Penn State's favor. PSU would score again to take the lead and not relinquish it the rest of the game. But everytime PSU scored FSU would answer quickly. The Noles added their 3rd TD return right before the half. "In the second half we were trying kick it out of bounds, their return game was down right scary."

PSU won the turnover game 3-0. That was the difference in the game, gave PSU 3 xtra possessions and lead to 2 easy TD's. The turnovers also let PSU's defense off the field. That seemed about the only way to stop Amp tonight.

FSU scored with about a 1:50 left to pull within 4 55-51 and elected to go for 2 with only one time out left. Manuel threw a pick and FSU would onside.

The onside was not successful but neither was PSU's drive. After a delay of game penalty FSU forced a punt and would have a chance to put together a game winning drive. Manuel looked to be leading the Noles to the win picking up nice chuncks of yards on 3 plays in a row from the hurry up. A sack forced FSU to use its final time out. A pick would follow sealing the deal for Penn State.

A wild one where alot of breaks went Penn States way.

    Missouri outlasts Penn State

Penn State's offense has been able to put up points but their turnovers this season have put the defense in a hole all season. In last weeks win Penn State threw 4 interceptions. This week they added another 3 and a fumbled punt for good measure. Everybody's looking at the defense but the other team had 4 extra possessions and good field positon all night. Compounding the offense's mistakes are the 'D's' inability to catch a balls thrown right at them. 4 balls seemingly for sure picks fell like bricks to the ground after bouncing out of defenders hands.

Week 5 will be a big week against confrenece foe Iowa. Penn State's top targets on the recruiting board are expected to attend the game.

I have had the same problem with my defenders dropping picks that are hitting them right in the chest. Frustrating.
