Position Battles? The only position battle we are having is houston is for the second HB spot Dion Lewis has played poorly lately and Javarris James looked better than him in week 1 so we will have to see. Rookies that will contribute right away? The 1st round pick WR Eddie Bartholomew plays like a stud and will easily have the #2 WR sport. Rookies that need time to develop? DT Manny Smith is 80 overall but is stuck behind Shaun Cody. So Smith will be given time to develop and has the ability to be a stud in the future. Anything else that you want to share with us, give us some insider news! The Texans have some interest in Jason Worlds but they are not sure if they want to make an offer. Give us an update every week or after the 2nd game and when preseason ends!
Position Battles? - The only position still undecided is at FS. Its going to come down to potential FA signing Abdullah and Isa Abdul-Quddus. Both solid young playmakers. Rookies that will contribute right away? DeVontry Wilson and Tony Johnson will both be looked to to make an impact right away. Rookies that need time to develop? Nick Ballard, Nigel Thomas, and Andrew Miller all need some time to develop, but all three should earn a starting spot sooner or later. Anything else that you want to share with us, give us some insider news! The Saints are still looking to move Curtis Lofton, Lance Moore, or Roman Harper!
Position Battles? Not too many position battles, most of the starters are set and the rookies were drafted for development and future use. Rookies that will contribute right away? DT Hansen Wood will start at Nose, WR Adam Jones will start as the slot receiver, WR Brandon Harris will be the kick returner, CB Jamal Williams will be the Dime Corner and return punts, HB Harold Barnes looked explosive in his first practice and could see limited action in the backfield Rookies that need time to develop? RB Harold Barnes needs some time, TE Chase Scroggins needs some time, but will still be TE #3, CB Jamal Williams needs a little time, but he is in a tough spot being behind 3 good corners in Rogers, Brown, and Culliver. Anything else that you want to share with us, give us some insider news! Niners are sticking with Alex Smith at QB as Kaepernick still needs another year to develop into the starter.
Position Battles? There's 1 big position battle at QB. The Jags have 4 QBs all with legitimate shots to win the job. No one has a step up from the others at this point. Rookies that will contribute right away? RB DeRay Ray, LG Bubba Logan, RB Tobias Bray, and CB Brian Kimble. QBs Bradford Barut and Jordan Mapa have a chance to start. Rookies that need time to develop? Barut and Mapa do need work even though they have a chance to start. SS Dejon Mahone was possibly on the cutting block but has already made himself noticed to the coaching staff. With some development, he could be a special player.
HK Rumor Mill Jacksonville, FL-- HAL9100 debating on a four qb race, seems like he will play each QB in the first quarter to get them a look at the first team defenses. He has also stated that a poll might go up with just ratings to help decide on the race. Houston, TX-- pitt4life21 Have expressed interest in OLB Jason Worilds of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dallas, TX-- BobJr The Cowboys took a QB early in the draft, GMs and Execs might be intrigued by Romo on the trade market or open market in the coming year or two. Pittsburgh, PA-- KnightNoles The Steelers are still interested in Antonio Cromartie of the Jets. San Diego, CA-- _MG_ How does rookie CB Simmons feel after reading his coach's comments, "Xavier Simmons sucks, fuck my life, When asked about scouting, "a little but everyone was all "FAR AND AWAY THE BEST CORNER IN THE LEAGUE" type bs," even though he did say this about Simmons, "He's good at everything but his coverage skills suck, he is an athlete just need to work on his coverage skills more." How will Simmons respond to this criticism on the field? Indianapolis, IN-- ChaoticUT This team is quietly putting together a solid unit, I believe they will make some noise in the AFC South this year.
Position Battles? The 3rd WR spot is anyone's to win. More experienced receivers, Kerry Meier and Harry Douglas, are going up against the rookie Aaron Graham. The coaches have been ecstatic over Graham, but Harry Douglas and his speed looks to be the favorite to fill that slot position. Regardless of this race, the 4th string will go to the rookie. That is, if he doesn't end up beating out the other two. LOLB is a spot that looks to be locked up by the outstanding rookie Kalik Turner. Turner is an absolute stud, but Stephen Nicholas is not to be forgotten. Look for Nicholas on the Trade Block since the rookie is turning so many heads at camp. Lastly, the battle for the backup role at ROLB. Atlanta picked up FA Spencer Paysinger in the offseason and the coaches love him. He is being battled by yet another stud rookie, Jake Downes. Coach Copeland has said that he likes Downes, but he needs some time to develop. Look for Downes to get some playing time at MLB as well. Rookies that will contribute right away? WR Aaron Graham, TE Josh Boyett, LG Damion Barriere, C Edmund Shade (animal), DT Patrick Heaps, LOLB Kalik Turner, and ROLB Jake Downes Rookies that need time to develop? RG Austin Lattimore (92 STR), LE Devonte Byler (82 speed, 85 accel), DT Preston Winkenwerder (91 STR), and CB Andrew Orr (85 man cov., 69 zone cov., 92 speed)
Position Battles? At WR, there will be a bit of a battle between Louis Murphy, Jarius Wright and Greg Childs. All 3 will see a lot of playing time. For now, Childs will take the #2 spot opposite from Percy Harvin. Wright and Murphy will get a good amount of snaps though as they both have great play making abilities after the catch. At RE, Blake Nieves is going to push Everson Griffen to challenge for that spot if Jared Allen leaves. At MLB, Orlan McCurley is going to get the opportunity to challenge for that starting spot. Rookies that will contribute right away? CB Josh Ramos and possibly MLB Orlan McCurley. Rookies that need time to develop? RG Kevonne Powell and DT Charles Wade.Anything else that you want to share with us, give us some insider news! I am very anxious to see how this roster pans out. I have some moves to make that should help for the future. I think I did a decent job with patching holes from guys leaving and the draft worked out well enough. I think we have the talent to win the NFC North and possibly contend for the Super Bowl. Only time will tell though.
I'll post my week 14 match vs Jags video in here later tonight. There is no week 14 summaries page and don't want to make one just for this, also it's HK history (I believe) in the fact that it's a tie. The video is a little longer still only about 8 mins due to I showed the whole OT since I didn't really know what was more important than anything else. Stay tuned though i'm touching up the editing a little more then begin the uploading process.
