I just bought one of these to record my games and stuff from the DVR. This thing is pretty slick. Can any of you video guys give me some pointers on converting to editing to posting videos on YouTube?

You will have to put your Xbox on 720p and capture using the included software.

I've yet to find a good free video editor.

What format should I convert to to be able to upload to YouTube or should I just leave it as a .mp4? I did upload one that I left as a .mp4 but the file was huge. What app should I use to convert with? It camewith ArcSoft MediaConverter 4.

If you leave it as a .mp4 then you will have to record one quarter at a time to be able to upload it to YouTube because of size, correct?

Yea, eventually you build some cred with Youtube and can go longer.

I've got one that's sitting, like new, only used once. Laptop wasn't strong enough to handle the video quality and don't feel like investing in a newer laptop at the moment.

Was thinking about ebaying it or putting it up for sale on Amazon, but I figure getting it to a TSO user would be beneficial towards the site...anyone interested?

you dont need to convert if you got sony vegas. Record in original .TS format and bring in vegas, edit, then render, and finally upload.

    Hey All,
I just got one of these (Hauppauge HD PVR) - and I have been trying to get it configured, but am having issues.... I have it setup with my xox360 using the component, and I am able to see the video stream and record it on my computer, but the pass-through to the TV does not seem to be working. I made sure my xbox was in 720p, (as I read on their official forums that the default 1080p is not supported). But still no luck. Anyone here know of some secret setting or something special that needs to bo done to get the video to pass-though?

    thanks!

I believe it is because they can do the video conversion on the fly (so the computer it is plugged into can just save the video stream that is coming in from it, rather than trying to compress it at the same time).

it is nice b/c the computer recording doesn't have to be awesome.... I have mine plugged into my old college laptop (1.8GHz Dual-core pentium M, 2GB of RAM) - and the recording is great at 720p. I am just having issues getting the pass-through to the TV working... i hope it is just a setting i am missing or something, b/c I really don't want to ave to ship it back and get a replacement if this one is faulty of something....
