The Chiefs started out the year rough. Starting a rookie QB, WR and OLB there were bound to be learning curves. But to start out 1-5, with a couple of last second losses and the Bronco's getting out to a 4-1 start, wasn't sitting well with the owner. Refusing to negotiate with any of their players until they started playing better may have lit the fire that this team desperately needed. Rattling off 2 straight wins and the division leading Bronco's sputtering, opened the door for a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

With division rival Chargers next on the schedule the Chiefs knew it was must win. Boisture was on early, connecting with Jamal Charles on a 13 yard score in the first. The Chargers were able to move the ball early on but a fumble in the red zone crushed any hope they had on scoring on the drive. The Chiefs marched down the field again. Converting 3rd down after 3rd down. The trio of rookie WR's are finally gelling and knowing their role in this offense. The drive was capped off with a 15 yard strike to TE Kelce for the 14-0 lead. Once again the Chiefs defense would hold the Chargers and get the ball back before half. Boisture would once again lead the Chiefs down the field. This time connecting with overpaid Dwayne Bowe for a 9 yard scoring strike. On the ensuing kickoff, the Chargers took it 104 yards for the score. Very late in the half, the Chiefs were moving again but Boisture would force a fade that was easily picked off in the redzone. 21-7 at the half.

The third quarter saw both defenses hold their opponents scoreless. But the Chargers started finding holes and in the fourth they punched through and Nichols threw a 15 yard td pass, to pull within 7. The Chiefs sensing another collapse, regained composure and marched down the field. Boisture found a wide open Anthony Fasano from 5 yards out to go up 28-14. 13 seconds later, CB Smith returned an interception 33 yards for the score and a 35-14 score. 29 seconds later, backup running back Francois rumbled in from 33 yards out to put the Chiefs up 42-14. A later Charger score finished the scoring, 42-21.

7 different receivers had at least 2 catches for the Chiefs keeping the Chargers secondary guessing.
