HC's decision to fund a football program proved to be no mistake at all as the Hippo's "air raid" attack torched the secondary and gave Homasassa College it's first ever NCAA college football victory!!!

    HC 3 21 7 14 - 45
    TROY 7 7 7 7 - 28

Homasassa wasted no time going to air tonight in front of thousands seated at "The REAL Swamp" stadium. HC completely dominated Troy through air, Senior Marques Fields ended the game with 51 passing attempts! Funny, during the offseason coaches' meeting, the coaches were debating on whether to run the fleXbox One or not. After long debate, they decided that the Hippos just didn't have the personel for that scheme. A decision was made, but kept secret until tonight - The Hungry Hippos will definately be putting the ball in the air instead of keeping it on the ground this season.

The Hippos are loaded with talent at wide receiver. One to speak of is 6' 6" Freshman Travis Hendrix who lead the team tonight with 10 receptions for 204 yards and 2 TDs. Junior Willie Avery also had a big night while hauling in 10 balls for 158 yards. Add in .............

On defense, the Hippos were led by Senior outside linebacker Leon Carlton, who ended the game with 8 tackles (TFL) and 1 sack. Junior free safety Brady Cruz also had a big night for the as he intercepted two passes, one coming at a crucial point in the game when Troy was going for the score.

Troy led a steady attack on offense, but timely turnovers cost them the game this time. Big plays seemed a dime a dozen for the Hippos tonight; a reason for the success.

Head Coach and Marine Biology Professor at HC, Coach/Professor K, had this to say after the game:
"I am really proud of the kids tonight, some of these guys have never played football in their LIFE!! As a matter of fact, I don't know to much about football, I played flag football once during PE when i was a child. I just know this one simple fact: If we score more than they do; we will win 10 times out of 10!"

The hippos made Homasassa proud!! Their potent passing attack could hardly be stopped by the Marshall Thundering Herd, and it got them a week 3 victory!

This game was over by the end of the 1st quarter. Star Freshman receiver Travis Hendrix seemed to catch every ball on the first drive, and capped it off with a 31 yard TD reception that he used his 6'6" frame to abuse the defensive back.

The defensive was very good in the first half, only giving up a couple fieldgoals. Safeties, Corey Smith and B Cruz, were laying the wood all game. In fact, Corey Smith ended the game with 9 tackles, 4 for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery that he returned for a TD. WOW!!

Besides one rediculous interception, M Fields was delivering perfect strikes to the receivers, and ended the day with 349 yards passing with 4 touchdowns. His main target? - you guessed it! - Travis Hendrix. The Freshman finished the game with 8 receptions for 172 yards and 2 touchdowns!!

    Coach/Professor K -
    "Wow!! What stellar performance!

We are going to need this momentum going into Boise State next week. We're not exactly where we want to be right now, but we definately have some serious weapons!

On offense, we bring back almost everyone for next season! Our main loss is going to by QB Marques Fields, but if we can land a VERY sought after recruit we may just start right back where we left off!

On defense, I believe we may have one of the best in the division! Our safeties are amazing, and we are a very Senior dominated defense!! We are looking to bring the pressure, be VERY aggressive, and force turnovers. If we can get one to two takeaways on defense, it is going to be huge because our offense is playing outstanding. Now, if we turn one of those turnovers into a defensive touchdown, it turns the game around COMPLETELY in our favor!

I'm excited for the rest of this season, but we need to go one game at a time! Good luck to Boise next week!"
