Iowa was clearly outmatched on paper, the Wolverines filled with 5 star recruits and a Heisman hopeful at QB. What the Wolverines lack is the killer instict and heart, the heart of the Hawkeyes is what kept them in the game until the last second where a dropped pass could have tied the game up. The heavy snowfall in this hostile stadium along with the night game threw the Hawkeyes off, Iowa's D shut down the Wolverines passing game, only allowing 95 yards but could not stop the run allowing 250 rushing yards. James Vandenberg had a disasterous day going 14-40 342 yds 3 TD and 4 INT. Many drives into Michigan territory were killed by slipping receivers and back foot passes that led to interceptions. One bright spot was Keenan Davis career game with 5 REC 226 yds and 2 TD. That's a 45.2 yard per catch average. Iowa's Coach Mason had this to say after the game: "You can't have 4 turnovers against a team like Michigan and expect to win. We have to take care of business next week against Nebraska if we want to have any chance to play in a Big Ten Title Game." Iowa is currently still in first place in the Legends division due to a points tie-breaker with Michigan hosting #22 Ohio State next week. With 1 week to go, the Big Ten divisions are both still up for grabs.
