    Heisman Hopefuls

The league will use a two conference setup with the teams being determined through a draft. Members of the league will abide by the sim standards set forth by TSO. Our goal is to have a competitive and fun league that carries through multiple seasons.

Advance schedule - 48 hour deadline for CPU games and user vs user games. Please make sure you coordinate with your opponent to work out a time on user games. I prefer that players start scheduling games before the advance so we can avoid delays.

Gameplay - In order to make this an enjoyable league for each member, each person will be required to follow these rules as it pertains to gameplay.

    * Mixing up play calling - Users will be required to utilize a mix of running and passing plays. Running the same play, or same type of play is not how real football works, so members must mix up their play calling. This pertains to the offensive and defensive side of the game.

    * Blitzing - This should be mixed into your game plan but it should not be used on every play. We will also not allow any type of blitzes that take advantage of AI issues.

Aggressive game planning - Please leave the game plan settings to normal throughout the game, with the exception of chew clock in late game situations when your team has a lead.

Sportsmanship - This rule is specifically targeted for user vs. user games but it also applies to CPU games. If you have a large lead and it is late in the game, please use conservative time management and run out the clock. I also want people to utilize the mass subs option if they have a large lead.

4th down situations - You are expected to kick/punt on 4th down unless you are trailing by more than one touchdown in the fourth quarter. You may also go for a fourth down conversion in very limited situations. Be realistic when deciding to kick the ball or gamble on the conversion. You should not have more than a couple 4th down attempts in a single game.

    * Outside FG range but inside the opponent's 45 yard line.

    * Inside the 5 yard line with a 4th and goal.

Onside kicks - You are only permitted to use onside kick in the fourth quarter if you are trailing in the game by more than a full TD, or within the last 2 minutes of the game if you are trailing. As stated with 4th down attempts these should only be used in realistic situations.

Stat Padding - This will be closely monitored and will not be allowed in the league. If a player puts up unrealistic stats the user will be warned. The second offense will be a suspension for the involved player and a third offense could result in the user being removed from the league.

    * Late game touchdowns - It is expected that you pull your starters with a 28 point lead or higher in the second half.

Scoring Cap - There will be a hard cap of 63 points for this league. If you exceed this amount the result will be scrapped and the game will be simmed at the advance. The only exception is a shootout when the opponent is within 7 points of the lead. If you are getting near the scoring cap, utilize the chew clock feature. The CPU scoring a late TD during a super sim is not a valid excuse for exceeding the scoring cap.

Handling disputes - If any issues arise during a user vs. user game, please let your opponent know during the game. If the issues continue, please notify the commissioner and provide as much photo/video evidence as possible. Do not post any negative remarks on the forums. If any issues arise that involve the commissioner, please reach out to a member of the TSO management team.

Vacations/absences - A thread will be created for these situations. Please notify the league if you will be away for a period of time that affects multiple advances.

Recruiting and rosters - At this time the only restriction placed on members of the league is to recruit up to a maximum of 73 players. The number of available scholarships will depend on your current roster size and number of graduating seniors. The 3 buffer allows you to cut up to 5 players per year. Your roster should be between 68-70 players at the start of each season. If you are below 68 players you are not permitted to cut any players that season. Walk on players do count towards the roster totals but you may cut those players if you fill the need position and your team has more than the required number of players.

    * Formula for recruiting class size - Empty roster spots (73 - current roster size) + graduating seniors

Playbooks - At this time we are not allowing the use of custom playbooks. Each user must pick a default offensive and defensive playbook. A thread will be posted at the start of the first season, each user must choose an offensive and defensive playbook. You will only be allowed to change your playbooks at the start of a new season, so be sure you choose the correct playbook.
