    Quarterback Controversy In Philadelphia?

Nick Foles or Michael Vick? Vick or Foles? The decision is tough in Philly but early suggestions say Foles will start for the Eagles. The allure of moving Vick to the AFC has been thrown in the air but keeping him for this season has also been tacked to the wall, especially with the team running an Option Spread offense. If an offer comes for Vick expect it to be taken into consideration but don't be surprised if he sticks around in Eagle green for at least one more season.

Top 5 Pass Rushers in the NFC West

    1. OLB Aldon Smith - San Francisco 49ers

Only Jared Allen has more sacks than Aldon Smith since Smith entered the league in 2011. He might not be a top-notch all-around defender (although he's a better run defender than he's given credit for), but the 23-year-old is already one of the most feared pass-rushers in professional football.

    2. DE Chris Long - St. Louis Rams

Rather quietly, Chris Long has made quite a nice career for himself in St. Louis. The former No. 2 overall pick has 24.5 sacks in the last two seasons, and PFF has rated him as the third most productive pass-rusher in the league in back-to-back seasons.

    3. DE Chris Clemons - Seattle Seahawks
Talk about consistent. Chris Clemons has recorded either 11 or 11.5 sacks in three-straight seasons, and he has forced three fumbles in each of the last two years.

    4. DE Robert Quinn - St. Louis Rams
When Quinn gets his motor running opposite Chris Long, with the way the Rams secondary is playing, the Rams D becomes one of the best in the NFL.

    5. DE Michael Bennett - Seattle Seahawks
Michael Bennett might only have 15 career sacks, but nine of them came in the 2012 season. He was also one of only 10 NFL defenders to be part of the 70-pressure club, based on numbers from Pro Football Focus.

How do you plan to keep up with teams like the 49ers and Seahawks?

I think we plan on to rely on our defense to stay in games with teams like them. If we can keep them off the scoreboard and just do enough on the offensive side of the ball I believe we can beat any team.

How will Carson Palmer help the Cards improve?

Palmer will bring experience to our team he knows what he doing back there. We also hope he can help develop are young QB Ryan Lindley. We feel he has all the tools to be our QB of the future.

What are your expectations for this season?

We have the expectations of any NFL team which is to win a Super Bowl. Even if we struggle a bit we will pick ourselves up dust off and keep on giving 100%.

    Contract Negotiations: Jeremy Maclin

The Philadelphia Eagles and 25 year old WR Jeremy Maclin have come to terms today agreeing to a 5 yr/27 million dollar deal. The 4th year man out of Missouri will flank fellow speedster DeSean Jackson for at least the next four years in Eagles' green.

CLEVELAND, Oh. -- After releasing QB Brandon Weeden, the Browns are actively looking for a quarterback to replace him. Rumor has it the Browns are willing to offer OLB/DE Jabal Sheard and TWO 3rd round draft picks in exchange for a new signal caller. They would like to get the trade done ASAP as week 2 is nearly upon us.

BROWNS ACQUIRE JOSH FREEMAN FROM THE VIKINGS

CLEVELAND, Oh. -- For a 5th round pick and OLB/DE Jabal Sheard, the Browns acquired Josh Freeman to be their starting QB for the remainder of the season. Can the once promising QB find a home in Cleveland? Most people expect the Browns to draft a QB with one of their two 2014 1st round draft picks no matter how well Freeman plays. With one year left on his contract, can Freeman change their minds?

Well its that time, time for some football. Primarily focusing on one division, the NFC North. There's a lot of questions to be asked about the north this year: Can the Vikings find success at the QB position and not have to depend on AP to be the whole offense? Can the Lions make that mext step and be a consistent playoff team? Under head coach Marc Trestman, can the Bears' offense become great? Will the Packers finally find a running game with two rookies in the backfield? This will all be answer in the new NFC North Blog,Season Preview.

    Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have a lot to be hopeful for this year, coming off a 10-6 record and a playoff appearance, the Vikings expect big things this year. Adrian Peterson looks to continue his dominance of the NFL and break the single season rushing record, falling just 9 yards short the season prior. In the offseason, the Vikings acquired WR Greg Jennings to help out with a passing attack that wasn't quite where they wanted it, averaging 171 yards per game, 31st in the NFL. Defensively for the Vikings, they were in the middle of the pack when it comes to total defense, ranking number 16. Chad Greenway looks to continue playing well, finishing last year second in total tackles. In the first round of the NFL Draft, the Vikings went defensive and took DT Sharrif Floyd from Florida. He is a DT that can not only play the run but is also very good at rushing the passer. The Vikings also took WR Cordarrelle Patterson from Tennessee. A very good receiver that can return kicks, run sweeps, and is very explosive on offense and will help out the passing game. But who will start for QB is the real question, Ponder?, Webb, Freeman, there has even been rumors of Tim Tebow coming to the Vikes.

Season Projection: 9-7 (3rd in NFC North)
    Team MVP: Adrian Peterson
Starting QB in Week 17: ?????

    Green Bay Packers
    [IMG]
The Packers finished the 2012 campaign 11-5 and another defensive meltdown in the playoffs getting crushed by the 49ers. Aaron Rodgers will look to continue to play at a high level even without veteran WRs Donald Driver(retirement) and Greg Jennings(FA), but he will need the help of a solid ground game. The Packers made sure that would happen taking RBs Eddie Lacy and Jonathan Franklin in the NFL Draft. Defensively for Green Bay the Packers finished 11th in the league, but none of that mattered in the playoffs when their defense got torched. This could be Dom Capers last year as defensive coordinator if he doesn't get his stuff together. In the NFL draft, the Packers took Datone Jones to try and beef up that defensive line. The Packers also drafted Micah Hyde to help out with their secondary woes. [IMG]

Season Projection: 10-6 (Second In NFC North)
    Team MVP: Aaron Rodgers
Pounds of cheese consumed by the fat guy: Too Much

    Chicago Bears
    [IMG]
The Bears made a big off-season move by hiring Marc Trestman to try and improve Jay Cutler and this Bears' offense. The Bears finished the season 10-6 and missed the playoffs thanks to a Vikings victory over the Packers in week 17. The Bears have always been known for good defense, but their offense has always lacked even with Jay Cutler, finishing the season ranked 28th in the league. They will need Alshon Jefferey to emerge and take some of the pressure off Brandon Marshall. Also the Bears could not protect Cutler that well last year but they went out and drafted Kyle Long and Jordan Mills to try and help protect Cutler. A big void and leader in that defense will be missed in Brian Urlacher. But I don't expect that defense to miss him that much still having great players in Lance Briggs and Charles Tillman.

Season Projection: 12-4 (1st in NFC North)
    Team MVP: Jay Cutler
Times Jay Cutler whines throughout season: Infinite

    Detroit Lions
    [IMG]
The Lions finished last season a disappointing 4-12 and last in the NFC North. The Lions' passing attack continued to be one of the best in the league with help from Calvin Johnson who broke the single season receiving record. In the off-season, the Lions acquired RB Reggie Bush who could make this offense even harder to stop. Defensively for the Lions they played good at times and very bad at times, finishing the season ranked 13th in total yards. They still have one of the best D-lines in football. The Lions' first 3 out of 4 picks in the draft were defensive players, indicating defense was the main priority. I expect the Lions to improve this season and make things interesting in the north.

Season Projection: 7-9 (4th in NFC North)
    Team MVP: Calvin Johnson
Number of aggressive handshakes for Jim Shwartz: 4

Eagles Dominated On Opening Day, McLovin On Rampage

The Philadelphia Eagles were outplayed severely on Monday night as their division rivals, the Washington Redskins, beat them handily 17-3. Owner Ray McLovin met the team in the locker room and immediately dismissed the media as he spoke to his team. From outside, it was reported that some strong words were said by the team's owner. Only Coach Chip Kelly was given permission to speak to the media when he was finished and the coach refused to comment on that discussion.

After one game maybe McLovin needs to relax a little but its nice to know that the guy at the top expects more of his team.

    Dallas Wins But Loses Big

Despite knocking off the Giants on opening day, the Cowboys* were not celebrating as they were informed Dez Bryant will miss extended time. The 92 overall WR will be out 7 weeks with a broken collarbone. The Dallas staff has yet to comment on the injury.

Dallas also lost 65 overall FS Matt Johnson. Johnson will miss 5 weeks with a torn bicep.

*It takes a lot for me to call Dallas 'the Cowboys' ... it seriously hurts my inside parts haha.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Have a new owner.

Coach smace is now the CEO, GM of the proud Franchise.

After a 1-1 start needs have become apparent.

    Priorities;
*get more elusive, quicker HBs to stretch the field and limit having 7-8 man boxes to run into without the quickness to get outside.

    * Get younger depth. Many of the backups are pushing 30 which means there are not many developing players for the future.

    * get more strength and toughness in the oline. Oline needs to spend more time in the weight room or find stronger, tougher guys.

    * Develop an offensive leader / future QB

    * get more athletic LBers with great football instincts. The 3-4 requires 4 strong, quick versatile LBers who can avoid or take on blocks and run to the football, but still have enough athletic ability to play decent pass coverage.

The Personnel dept has identified a few free agents that can address some of these needs right away.

Le'Veon Bell will still be the feature back. He will also have a few new players to help diversify the offense.
Felix Jones had lost more than a few steps and his 88 acc just didnt get him to the edge or run away from LBers like he use to. He was released In his place two younger quick HB step in to add that change of pace. Kenjon Barner and Kendal Hunter.

Kendall Hunter has decided to play for the Carolina Panthers. Steelers look to add another free agent HB who would fill a similar role.

The Steelers also had 4 TE and decided to release one of them to facilitate these two additions.

At this moment the Steelers are in talks with a few free agents and await the word from the league office as they look to add a few more pieces.
