Giants announce 2 contract extensions The NY Giants came to terms with WR Hakeem Nicks who was drafted in the 1st round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Giants. The deal will keep Nicks in a Giants uniform through the 2017 season on a 4 year extension. ""I was in communication with my agent each and every day, every other day sometimes, and he assured me that things were moving in the right direction," Nicks said. "There was never a time where I thought I wouldn't be a Giant. It was just a matter of time." The Giants also will keep DT Linval Joeseph in the middle of their defensive line as he inked a 4 year extension. The Gmen are having a tough season but these 2 guys were vital in the direction they are wanting to go. Still no word from the Giants front office on whether or not they plan to offer contracts to All Pro DE Justin Tuck and RG Chris Snee.
BROWNS BREAK OFF CONTRACT TALKS WITH ALL PRO CENTER ALEX MACK CLEVELAND, Oh -- With Alex Mack's agent sticking to his outlandish demands of a 6 year 60 million dollar contract for his client, the Browns decided to end negotiations with the All-pro Center. If Mack decides not to concede at all in future negotiations, expect the Browns to franchise tag him in the offseason. Currently, the salary number for a franchise center is approximately $6.5M per year.
AFC South Season 1 - Week 4 Update (Moved it to the Proper Thread) After completing a 25% of season 1 it's time to step back and see how the AFC South teams are progressing. Jacksonville Jaguars - After 4 weeks the Jags are setting atop the division with a 2-2 record. The Jags are leading the Division in points scored on the strength of Chad Henne arm and the legs of MJD. At this point it looks to be the Jags Division to lose. The Jags are also the only team in the Division to win all the home game so far going 2-0 at home. The Jags also got a big win over the Colts in week 4. Tennessee Titans - After 4 weeks the Titans are 1-3 but since they are still CPU controlled they get no love here today. Houston Texans - Even though the Texans are 0-4 after week 4 that is a little misleading. The Texans first 2 games were against the CPU and week 3 they were involved in game that was later dubbed "Playbook Gate" and lost a tough one 17-7 to Baltimore. In week 4 they went toe-to-toe with the Seahawks before they fell 31-26. Look for the Texans to right this ship quickly and begin to push the Jags for control of the Division. Indianapolis Colts - After 4 weeks the only way to describe the Colts is "Train Wreck". The Colts lost their first 3 games by a combined score of 86 to 6 and they did not score their first TD until week 4 loss to the Jags. Turnovers have plagues the Colts so far as Luck has thrown 14 Ints. If the Colts can ever get the offense figured out they are playing winning football on defense and could make things interesting late in the year.
Landry Jones first full scrimmage as the #1 QB Landry completes 21 passes and 3 tds leading to a 31-10 win in a full practice vs the practice squad on Tue. His ability to throw catchable balls in tight windows was the reason for the move and it was noticeable from the start as Landry went 9-9 to start the game. WRs held on to pass vs tight coverage that they had struggled to hold on to all season.
Jags make roster move this week. Deciding that they need more depth at defensive tackle, the GM released third string TE Allen Riesner and sign DT Terrell McClain to a one year contract worth $600K.
Green Bay Trades Away Tramon Williams for Thomas Decloud and a draft pick "We just felt we had room to improve our FS spot, so I decided to pull the trigger on Decloud", Wayers said after the trade. Not having a solid FS after Nick Collins sustained a career ending injury, the Packers have given up a lot of big plays deep. "With the addition of Decloud, I feel he can protect that back end a lot more then what we previously could, we are pretty deep at the CB position and Tramon had hit the 30 mark, so we just decided it was time. Decloud brings solid speed to the table along with the ability to make a play on the ball. The Packers also received a 4th round pick.
Eagles/Saints Do Business The Philadelphia Eagles and the New Orleans Saints have agreed on a trade. The Saints will send cornerback Jabari Greer to Philadelphia for the Eagles first round pick in this years draft. Greer will get his chance to be the #1 corner in Philadelphia's rebuilding defense.
New QB In Zona In the game vs the Panthers Carson Palmer threw an INT on the games first drive which lead to the benching of Palmer. The Ryan Lindley will take the starting spot. He has tons of potential with a strong arm. He eill face a tough test in his first start vs there rival 49ers.
Jags make another roster move this week. GM has decided that 4 QBs are too many (surprise), so he decided to release one. Ricky Stanzi is the latest to hit the chopping block. Taking his place on the roster is RT Jason Fox who was signed to a one year $750K contract.
Landry Jones had a pretty good debut for a rookie. Completed first 5, had a rough patch, completed last 5. He goes 11-20 for 167 and no TDs 3 INTs and got a win. But he lead a few good drives. His INTs was a force in the red zone, I deep throw force right before the half, and a great DB play on a curl by the DB right before the half after getting a pick back. So besides the last 2-3 mins of the 2nd Qrt he played really well. He had a number of great throws and wrs held on to most of the passes that were drops in prior weeks. But TE Miller and WR Brown were hurt and will be out for multiple weeks. More detailed summary coming in the summary thread.
Jets were without Wilkerson but still have a great madden defense since the CBs are rated good. Like i said besides the 2 mins in the 2nd qrt he was on. And with the time of our qrts you are not getting 60-70 plays to get 300yd passers. I only ran 48 plays and jets only ran 34
Head Coach Gus Bradley held a mini press conference after the Jags loss at home to the Chargers. "We can only run the ball so much in this league. We have to have a passing game to give MJD a chance to make some plays for us on the ground. We have a core of explosive guys on our team and we need to get them the ball anyway we can. With that being said, we are going to go with the rookie Matt Scott for the rest of the season. We feel has the tools to make the throws we want and make plays with his feet when things break down. Chad has done some good things, but we need a little bit more out the offense than what he can give". Henne was available for comment. Matt Scott said he excited to get his chance to run the offense and can't wait to start his first game. He will have tough test as the Jags face San Fran next week. When asked how come the team didn't wait for the upcoming bye week, Coach Bradley just said he wanted to see what they can do now and make the necessary adjustments during the off week.
Eagles Trade Cary Williams To Arizona The Philadelphia Eagles shipped promising vet Cary Williams to Arizona today for Javier Arenas. The cornerback for cornerback exchange is part of Philadelphia's march to get younger. Though the Eagles are getting younger they don't want to get worse despite the 2-5 record. Arenas still has some studying to do (AWR 68) but should be a vital piece to the Philadelphia defense in the future. The move also created some relief in the salary cap department as Philadelphia looks to retain safety Nate Allen. Other News: The Philadelphia/New Orleans trade is still pending a Jabari Greer physical. With Sheldon Brown going down this week getting Greer in soon is key if Philadelphia wants to continue to ride the momentum of their Dallas victory.
HK Gameday - Week 8 The numbers....RG3 has suffered a sophomore slump after putting up phenomenal numbers as a rookie on his way to winning rookie of the year in the 2012-2013 season. The knee injury and controversy of whether he should have been benched in favor of Kurt Cousins during that Seattle playoff game, has plagued his off season. He spent all his time rehabbing and answering questions of, "Will you be back day 1?" Well, the young man was back, but not back to the form shown in the rookie season. RG3 is currently ranked 22nd amongst his counterparts in total passing yards. He has tossed only 5 td's and and thrown 20 int's. This stat was the opposite last year, when he tossed 20 td's, and only 5 int's for the entire season! His 47.6 passer rating is one of the poorest in HK, 30th to be exact. This is not the Heisman Trophy winning, Rookie of the Year, Electrifying, Subway commercial making, Adidas shoe wearing, Andre 3000 lookin boi that we are used to seeing! Step ur game up and ball the fuc out against them Broncos. They are 1- 6 and have the worst rushing offense in the league as well as the worst total defense (33.1 pts allowed per game and 373 yards per game) and are giving up an average of 190 yards on the ground. RG3, We want to see you go 25/25, 300 yards, 4td's, 0 INT'S!!! 10 carries, 125 yards, 2 tds. Put up some numbers!! This is your chance to breakout of the offensive rutt you and the Skins' are in. Game Time is at 10 pest tonight. Show up and lead your damn team to victory, 12 points a game is laughable! Are you serious? Come on Man! HTTR!
Eagles Resign McGee After a failed deal to acquire Jabari Greer from the Saints, the Philadelphia Eagles announced that they are resigning corner Terrence McGee. McGee, unhappy with his role, was released at his request and to make room for Greer. But with starting corner Sheldon Brown down McGee's opportunity to play increased and both sides agreed to drop their differences. McGee is projected to start at nickel in Philly's game vs. Oakland.
