Owner/GM Cade Petty and newly HC Jimmy Johnson have come to terms with a new Offensive and Defensive Coordinator today. Coach Johnson is known for his Power Run offense and his 4-3 defense. Although, with the Texans he has to adjust to his roster. Having JJ Watt is the 4-3 is a waste. So, He knew he needed someone he knew the 3-4 defense to turn over reigns to.

The Texans have come to terms with Alabama's Defensive Coordinator Kirby Smart on a 3 year deal.

Smart has ran both a 3-4/4-3 defense at Alabama although their scheme is a 3-4. The Texans may stay with the attacking 3-4 defense scheme, but we could see them in a Hybrid Multiple Front Defense. Smart won 3 National Championships with the Crimson Tide and is ready to take it to the NFL level.

The Texans have also come to terms with Texas Tech HC Kliff Kingsbury on a 2yr deal as their offensive coordinator

Kingsbury has had success at the college ranks in his first year as HC and just like Smart is ready to build his NFL resume. He grew up in San Antonio, Tx and played at Texas Tech, so it was a perfect fit for the Texans. Kliff will bring a different look to the Texans offensive side and being a former QB he will control the offense in need of an upgrade at the QB position. Kingsbury helped groom our very own Case Keenum and Johnny Manziel in college, so it was a no brainer for Johnson to bring him in. Both Coach Johnson and Kingsbury have said that they will adjust their offense to their QB of the 2014 season whether it is Casey Keenum or someone else. Although, I predict a balanced approach we may see a lot more spread with Kingsbury at the reigns.

Coach Johnson is 71 and knew he needed to bring in some younger coaches to build chemistry for the 2014 Houston Texans.

    JAGS MAKE SHOCKING COACHING MOVE!

In a move that still shocks the city of Jacksonville, the team has announced that they have parted ways with Bob Babich this morning. Sources close to the situation reports that front office believes that the league's second best defense can get even better with a scheme change. It was reported that this was going to happen, so it indeed has. Babich made great strides with a defensive roster no one thought would do the things it has this past season. So, this moving is completely unexpected. The defense will now be a 3-4 defense from here on out. Some of the players will have to learn new positions in the off season, which will be on hell of a undertaking. Alualu, the teams sack leader played in this defense in college, so his transition will be easy. Who will be the coordinator to guide the team in this transition you ask?

Welcome former Stanford defensive coordinator Derek Mason. Mason led the Cardinal to consecutive top-15 national standings in defensive efficiency with steadfast efforts in 2011 and 2012.

Mason, a 2012 Broyles Award finalist, guided a 2012 Stanford defense that was not only one of the finest in the nation, but also one of the best in school history.

Mason’s leadership paved the way to a historic defensive output in 2012, breaking Stanford’s single-season sacks record (57) and pacing the Pac-12 in scoring defense (17.21), total defense (336.21), rushing defense (97.0), sacks (4.07) and tackles for loss (9.00).

Capped off by a Pac-12 title game victory and Rose Bowl crown, the 2012 Cardinal ranked first nationally in sacks, second in tackles for loss, fifth in rushing defense and 11th in scoring defense.

Over the last six games of 2012, Stanford held opponents scoreless in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Stanford held eight of 13 opponents under 100 yards rushing in 2012, and in a string of three consecutive games, the Cardinal recorded three of its top-10 single-game rushing defense performances in school history: No. 3 at Colorado (minus-21 yards), No. 4 vs. Washington State (minus-18) and t-No.9 at California (three). The Cardinal set a school record by allowing only 76 offensive yards at Colorado.

In 11 of its 14 games, Stanford held its opponent to 20 or fewer points. That included a 14-point effort in the overtime win at top-ranked Oregon, who led the FBS with a 54.8 scoring average.
Mason’s defensive backs were pivotal to the historic defense’s efforts, including All-America Ed Reynolds and Rose Bowl Defensive MVP Usua Amanam. Reynolds ranked first nationally with 301 interception return yards, one yard short of the NCAA single-season record.

In his first season as associate head coach and co-defensive coordinator, Mason’s 2011 defense ranked third nationally in rushing defense (84.38), sixth in third-down defense efficiency (31.10) and 11th in sacks (3.00).

Mason teamed with Jason Tarver to mold Stanford into one of the top defensive units in the Pac-12. The Cardinal ranked either first or second in the conference in six defensive categories, including rushing defense (1st - 84.4), third-down conversion defense (1st - 31.1), scoring defense (2nd - 21.9), total defense (2nd - 337.6), sacks-per-game (2nd - 3.00) and opponent first downs (2nd - 17.5). Stanford finished third nationally in rushing defense.

Mason’s 2010 secondary was one of the great turnaround stories in college football, leading Stanford to the 19th-best interceptions total (18) in the nation and 35th-ranked pass defense (202.0). Three players from that defensive backfield went on to play in the NFL.

Prior to his arrival at Stanford for the 2010 season, Mason served as an assistant defensive backs coach for the Minnesota Vikings from 2007-09, playing a vital role in the team ranking sixth in total defense in 2008 and 2009 as the Vikings won NFC North titles each season.

Mason was introduced to the NFL coaching circles through the Minority Fellowship program in 1996 with the St. Louis Rams and also spent time with the coaching staffs of the New York Giants and Oakland Raiders. He joined the Vikings staff in 2007, where he worked with defensive backs coach Joe Woods.

Prior to joining the Vikings, Mason tutored the wide receivers at Ohio University under head coach Frank Solich and helped the Bobcats improve from 4-7 in 2005 to a 9-5 mark the following season, culminating in an appearance in the GMAC Bowl against Southern Mississippi.

Mason spent the 2004 season as the wide receivers coach at New Mexico State, where he helped the Aggies lead the conference in passing.

During the 2002 campaign, Mason mentored the receivers and assisted with the special teams at Utah. The Utes also featured the NFL Draft’s No. 1 overall pick in quarterback Alex Smith and wide receiver Paris Warren, who was selected in the seventh round.

Mason’s early stops in his coaching career included assignments at San Diego Mesa College (1994), Weber State (1995-96), Idaho State (1997-98) and Bucknell (1999-2001).

As a player, Mason was a two-year starter and four-year letterwinner at Northern Arizona.

A native of Phoenix, Ariz., Mason attended Camelback High School. Derek and his wife, Leighanne, have two daughters, Makenzie and Sydney.

    BENGALS FIND THEIR DC
    Kieth Butler
    Former Steelers LB Coach

After finally making the leap out of Dick Lebeau's Shadow!!!
Butler began his coaching career at Memphis in 1990, coaching linebackers and later expanding his role to cover defensive ends and special teams by 1997. He was the architect of a surprise 3-4 defensive scheme which led to the U of M's shocking 1996 upset of the #6 Tennessee Volunteers, led by junior quarterback Peyton Manning. He then moved to Arkansas State in 1998 to serve as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

His professional coaching debut came as a linebackers coach for the expansion Cleveland Browns in 1999. He was the only assistant coach retained after a staff turnover in 2001, and coached the next two seasons under Butch Davis, mentoring the club's first ever Pro Bowl selection since returning to Cleveland, linebacker Jamir Miller.

Butler moved to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2003, serving as linebackers coach. He has been extremely instrumental in mentoring the development of the Steelers' renowned linebacking corps. His linebacking experience has helped the Steelers consistently lead the NFL in rushing defense, total defense, and sacks. For example, the Steelers have ranked in the top five for total yards allowed in six of the eight seasons Butler has served, and never worse than the top ten. Similarly, the Steelers have ranked in the top five for rushing yards allowed in seven of the eight seasons Butler has served, only ranking twelfth once in 2003.[2]

Butler has been influential in the development of Pro Bowl linebackers Joey Porter, James Farrior, Lawrence Timmons, LaMarr Woodley, and James Harrison. Harrison, in particular, improved from an undrafted practice squad linebacker into the NFL Defensive Player of the Year under Butler's tutelage.[1]

He considered considered a leading candidate to take over the Steelers' defensive coordinator position when Dick Lebeau retires, but that seems to have changed now!

    Broncos Hire Dan Mullen

The Denver Broncos hires Dan Mullen as their new offensive coordinator. Mullen will bring a pro like spread to the Denver Broncos. Mullen's forte is and spread option, but his new offense will be geared towards the NFL game and give a more wide open approach. With the speed of NFL Mullen says that you wont see the Broncos running as many QB designed runs. Mullen continues to talk about the offense, stating, “The greatest strength of the offense is creating mismatches and we rely on our personnel to do that. We are trying to get our players in position to make plays based on a one-on-one mismatch in athleticism.”

    Chiefs Hire Frank Solich

After the firing of Kansas City's offensive coordinator Doug Pederson, GM Cole Copeland did not hesitate to replace him. The Chiefs went out and got Ohio University head coach Frank Solich, where he had a 124-69 record since 2005. When asked about the hiring, Copeland told reporters that he wanted an OC that can run a unique style of Pistol offense that relies on the Air Raid just as much as the relentless ground attack. He wants an OC that will make every defense in HK tremble at the thought of the offense and that is what Copeland envisions with this hire. With this information coming out, there were also rumors that a plane arrived in KC just hours after Solich's press conference with FSU DC Jeremy Pruitt stepping out.. More to come?

    Titans Announce new Coordinators

    OC- Matt Hasselbeck
After being on the team a couple years ago this should be a good fit for the team as he brings over the playbook from Seattle and can implement it to the Titans and make it fit easier. Hasselbeck has found success in his career and hope to bring it to the coaching aspect.

    DC- Warren Sapp
He's a big guy and can rumble and we hope this can translate into coaching on the defensive side of things. This style of defense will capture a lot of different formations as they set to prepare for various types of offense seen in the NFL on any given week.

    Pick some new coaches..

Sapp likes his chair on Gameday, no reason for him to coach.

    New Leader In Arizona!

The Cards have announced that they have signed the great one Payton Manning to a 1 year 10.8 million dollar deal. GM Krobot said "He will add a wealth of experience behind center for our team and he can also help Ryan Lindely develop." We will have to see how Manning will respond to his new team after being cut unexpectedly from Denver and how he will follow up his MVP year.

Although this is news, it is not a surprise to anyone in the league. After the worse season in Washington Redskin Football history, 1- 15, Ownership has decided to fire the entire coaching staff. This includes Head Coach Rob Chudzinski, Offensive Coordinator Nathan Carroll, Defensive Coordinator Jim O'Neil, and Special Teams Coach Mic E. Mowzz.

This time around, Owner CT will do his due diligence and find the right fit for the HC vacancy. In the meantime, it seems as if he has found his new Offensive Coordinator. Kansas City Chiefs O-Line Coordinator Andy Heck has agreed to a 2 year, 4 million dollar deal that have some wondering if he is actually Turner's next HC in waiting. It's no secret that Washington's offense has been a liability for most of the season. Heck has done great things with that offense. The Chiefs ranked 5th with 27.6 points per game, 2nd with 357.1 yards, 14th in the Pass, and 2nd in rushing. Washington certainly has good enough weapons to run the multi-formations that Heck likes to run.

Turner will be making a decision on the new Head Football Coach, Scouting Team, and Trainers in the weeks to follow.
