For those of you that don't know, we have a pretty big issue with the Salary Cap. Many users are unable to resign players due to being 1 Billion over the cap.

Unfortunately, it may correct itself for some users after the offseason but it WILL come back for others. It is completely broken. Also, because we have it on good authority that it will not be patched, we are going to turn off the Salary Cap in game. However, you will still be required to be under the cap. The 2014 cap will be $137.5M.

So, here is what we are planning -

The only aspect of the cap that is really difficult to manage is cap penalties. Therefore, we are going to add a "cut thread". If a user wants to cut a player, they have to wait 24 hours before cutting them. If a trade occurs, they have to wait 24 hours before approving the trade in console. This will give us time to properly adjust the cap penalties on the doc below -

We will sticky this thread to the HK Forum. Every user will have to agree that they understand what we are doing.

With this, users are going to have to be more responsible for their cap numbers. This means -

    1. Keeping enough cap space clear for rookie signings
    2. Keeping enough cap space to have a full roster of players
    3. NOT going over the CAP. If you do, we will have penalties.

1ST OFFENSE - $5M Cap hit for the next year.
2ND OFFENSE - $15M Cap hit for the next year.
    3RD OFFENSE - BOOT

The good news is that all of the salary information is still in the CCM when the cap is turned off. You can still see your total team salary, the penalties for cutting a player and how long each individual player is signed. Furthermore, we can still use the game's free agency system which is much better than the bidding system that we had last release.

We would like to have everyone post in this thread that you agree and understand. If you have any questions, please post them here.

It all depends on where you draft and how many picks you have. Here are the rookie reserved amounts in my test league.

    1. 9.36 Panthers

    3. 12.76 (two first round picks 3 and 5) Rams
    4. 9.12 Bengals
    5. 8.73 Vikings
    6. 8.09 Jaguars
    7. 7.94 Seahawks
    8. 7.30 Browns
    9. 7.03 Jets
    10. 6.19 Colts
    11. 6.66 Bucs
    12. 5.84 Lions
    13. 6.48 Dolphins
    14. 6.30 Raiders
    15. 6.11 Ravens
    16. 5.98 Giants
    17. 5.92 Eagles
    18. 5.84 Saints
    19. 5.77 Bills
    20. 4.63 Titans
    21. 5.72 Cowboys
    22. 4.98 Bears
    23. 5.59 Steelers
    24. 9.05 49ers (1 1st, 2 2nd, 2 3rd, 2 4th)
    25. 5.48 Broncos
    26. 5.47 Falcons
    27. 3.82 Patriots
    28. 4.85 Texans

In our season 1 draft, I had 10 draft picks including 2 1st rounders(#2 and #18). My rookie reserve was ~$12 mil.

    @ryrt32

The rookies still sign automatically and since the game still tracks the over Salary for Your team you will see that number adjusted after the draft after the rookies are signed.

Since the "cap" is off, the rookie "cap" is also off so there isn't really a Rookie Reserve like there was before.

    --

Also, quick question.. ryty32 I think the salary cap for this coming season is $137,500,00... Its only 2.5m above the 135 you posted but, every little bit helps for those teams in cap help :)

Also, one more thing... Are we planning on increasing the cap yearly, by a certain % since that's how the NFL and how the Game was doing it?

Yeah...we will bump the cap up every year most likely. However, the number may not match the NFL or what was on the console.

    it wont be too difficult.

All you have to do is... When you make a trade or release a player, you have to post how much Bonus Money he had remaining on his Contract... Because in the NFL the Bonus money is the only money that is guaranteed on any contract.

If you have a player that makes $2m per year + $2m per year bonus and he has a 5 year contract, his "penalty" for being cut or released looks like this:

    Year 1 of contract - $10
    Year 2 of contract - $8
    Year 3 of contract - $6
    Year 4 of contract - $4
    Year 5 of contract - $2

    Make sense?

i think the NFL is right around 8-10% each year... Its based on league revenue so its not really a set number... All i know for sure is that every players contract is Back loaded and if we don't increase cap, the whole league will be in cap hell very quickly :(

We will take that into account when we decide to increase. However, if you look at the last 4 years in the NFL, it really hasn't changed much. I understand there is a new CBA but the future cap number is all speculation at this point.

    2012 $120.6 million
    2011 $120 million
    2010 Uncapped
    2009 $123 million
    2008 $116 million
