NEW YORK GIANTS FRONT OFFICE RELEASE STATEMENTStatement from the NYG on Recent FA Moves ROSTER MOVES IN DISCUSSION 1. Release of MLB C. Blackburn, Signing of MLB T. Carder2. Release of HB D. Ware, Signing of HB D. Berry3. Release of QB D. Carr, Naming QB J. Crompton Back-Up As defending Super Bowl Champions, it is our duty to defend that honor to the highest degree. We have been given a schedule that can only be compared to the Circles of Hell. This team, this organization is also experiencing changes. With the hiring of Coach Cimahosky at the beginning of the season, we have begun a new chapter in the New York Giants saga. Going forward, this team will experience changes in personnel and scheme. To address the most recent roster movements, we did so in the best interest of this current team, and this franchise going forward. It is no secret that we have been struggling at the LB position, despite our latest Super Bowl victory. Blackburn has been an asset to the Giants, but is no longer needed in this defense. Mark Herzlich has proven that he is up to the challenge of being our starting MLB, and has found a partnership with Greg Jones to add depth and talent. Now, with the addition of Tank Carder. Carder excelled at the college level at his position and we have seen that talent translate to the NFL level. He is a rookie. He has learning to do and he needs experience to prosper, but we believe he can make an immediate impact and will be a part of this organization going forward. Our running game has been successful, but the one thing it lacks is a bruiser to give us the short yardage gains. DJ Ware fell victim to the depth chart and needs. Berry should be the #3 option for us this season, and will likely see short yardage snaps. We really like what we have seen on tape of Berry's ball security and short yardage gains. Some of you may be surprised by the release of David Carr. Crompton was brought on solely for depth chart purposes for the remainder of the preseason. However, his performance has been very good and his work ethic even better. These roster movements have only built a Giants team that will continue to win football games, and will do so for years to come. We have freed up cap space, and have found talent for this team.
