    Hokie Recruiting Hub

After 2 weeks of signing nothing but a 1 star Juco DE hokie fans can finally get excited about some hokie talent being brought in by new coach DJ...

Starting with a " underrated talent.." 3 star guard Jamar Scott while not boasting the prestige of a 5 star recruit Coach DJ thinks this kid has an opportunity to be a beast and an anchor for his line for the nxt 4 years.. He has great pass and run blocking skills and shows a knack for getting a ton of pancake blocks to allow the qb to make a decision on where to go with the ball...

Another 3 star signee mlb Reggie Bailey he has decent speed for the mlb position and shows a nose for the ball, he will likely be redshirted...

The last is the best of the class so far 4 star OLB Ray Estes he has good speed for his size 6'4 229 he shows a good nose for the ball and is very agile look for this kid to see the field early and often as va tech builds for the future..

The hokies signed the #1 reciever in the nation in just the 3rd week of the season. Tim Campbell a highly touted blazing speed wr out of Villa Hills, KY he stands 6'3 weighs 174 and should come in at 97 speed or higher. This is just what the hokies wanted a dangerous WR to go with their already dangerous run game...

Thats it for this week we hope to have more for you all in coming weeks...

More rectuiting news out of Blacksburg yet another big signing this time its the #1 MLB in the nation and the #5 recruit in the the nation Xavier Roberts. He stands 6'3 weighing at 225 pounds. Hes light for a middle linebacker but he is a very sure tackler and very good at shedding blocks. He has pretty good hit power and good strength. He should start instantly and have a very big impact on an already stout D. Va tech hopes to sign another Top 5 recruit to keep the door open for 1 more 5 star.

Offense - Runs the Wild Turkey/Cat/Hog A LOT. He had some success using this formation against me but I was able to make plays as well. In normal formations he still prefers to run but his QB made some nice deep throws as well. Can't sleep on his QB as he runs when no receivers are open. He didn't run excessively with QB but got some big first downs with his QB's legs.

Defense - Controlled a safety most of the game and likes to stay in the middle of the field. I was able to beat him deep with my WR's but he also made a nice pick on a deep pass. I used a lot of play action in the game to slow down his safety. This was helped by my team's ability to run the ball against his defensive front. My back only had 1 big run all game but he was consistently chewing up 3-4 on normal runs.

This years recruiting has started off very slow for the Hokies who are currently undefeated and 3-0 in conference play sitting pretty on top the ACC. But in these upcoming weeks we will have many important visits starting this week against notre dame where we have 5 or 6 visiting. We have one signing to report though....

6'4 223 lbs 4 star scrambling QB Rashaun Smith has decided to fill the role of the future Hokie Qb. He has Good speed for a Qb good Thp good Tha, great agility and break tackle for a Qb and should be used as Tebow type Qb in years to come. Unless God sends the Hokies a QB from the heavens or the others on the depth chart some how improve dramatically, Smith will be the starter next year in what will look to be a rebuilding year for the offense next year.

The Hokies hope to fill other needs throughout the rest of the year though and look for more news in the very near future regarding signings.

Another Big signing (literally) for the Hokies.

6'5 190 lbs Mike Davis decided to sign and play in blacksburg. This will be yet another dynamic speedy WR on the Hokie roster next year as they hope to make it easier on an incoming Freshman QB. Davis has A speed, B- Catch, C+ spectacular catch and B- Jump. The fact that he has great size, great speed and shows great ball skills has everyone in Blacksburg excited.

The Hokies had 3 more defensive signings this week as they look to bolster that defense up for what is expected to be a very weak offense next year.

    Trey Baker
    5'11 163 lbs
    Red Springs, NC
    4 star Balanced CB

This kid shows great speed at the corner position and especially is good in man coverage. Hes on the smaller side so pressing is a problem for him, he will definately need to bulk up some as he might just be thrust straight into action his freshman year as the Hokies will lose 2 main CBs next year.

    Dustin Huffman
    5'11 181 lbs
    Tamiami, Fl
    3 star Coverage CB

Another speedy corner for the Hokies who again are looking to bolster that defense with speed for next year. This kid shows great speed and decent ball skills but again lacks when it comes to press coverage because of size. He might just be thrust into action also due to the thinness of speed in the secondary.

    Jeremiah Adkins
    6'3 210 lbs
    Hermitage, Pa
    5 star Hard Hitting FS

This kid could be special. After losing the #1 FS to the nation to SC the Hokies turned their attention to Adkins who has everything pretty much the same as Shultz besides the hitting power. But he is indeed a head hunter and a sure tackler and will more than likely be the started headed into next year as Senior leader Exum will be leaving.

    Brandon Henderson
    6'4 295 lbs
    Payson, Az
    5 star Run Block G

This kid is just what the doctor ordered for a run game that will be more about Power running than speed corner rushing. He more than likely will not start next year but he will be a very big part of the line in the future though as 2 guards will depart after next year. But he will more than likely receive a redshirt barring a 86 plus rating coming in...
