It was a "must-win" situation for the Rams who has found themselves in the middle of the pack in a tough NFC conference. The Rams were welcomed by a rowdy Sea of Red in a packed house in University of Phoenix stadium. From the get go this game became evident it was going to be a defensive battle. The Cardinals got an early opening drive FG in the redzone which looked like the only points either team was going to score in the first half. With roughly 30 seconds left in the half the Rams had the ball back up on their own 25 yard line with all 3 timeouts left. "I thought we might just take a knee and go into the 2nd half only down 3-0", said Rams QB Mosley. Instead STL took advantage of the prevent defense and got Zuerlein in range (which doesn't take much with his leg) to end the half 3-3. Arizona received the ball to start the 2nd half and on their first drive RB David Wilson picked up nice blocking from the left side of the line and busted out a 63 yard TD run untouched. This put Arizona up 10-3. St Louis received the kickoff and on the 3rd play from scrimmage busted out what looked like an identical run the Cardinals just had. Daryl Ricardson also picked up nice blocking from the left side and went 74 yards untouched to quickly tie the game at 10. The Cards put together another long drive marching down the field w/ a solid run game. However, a pick in the red zone by FA pickup LB James Laurinaitis proved to be one of the turning points in this game. Laurinaitis ended the game w/ 5 tackles and 2 int's. The Rams took advantage of the redzone turnover and finished a long drive w/ a spectacular one handed grab by TE Jared Cook in the back of the endzone to give the Rams a 17-10 lead. The Rams D stepped up huge finishing the game w/ 5 ints. Another FG by the Rams gave them a 20-10 lead w/ the clock running out in the 4th. The Cards didn't throw in the towel though and a late punt return only put them down 20-17 w/ under a minute to go and no timeouts. The Rams recovered the onside kick and ran the clock to hang on to a HUGE division road win! GG Cards. Looking forward to rematch!
