    Huskers "U" Game Summaries

Hello to all coaches. I am very excited at the opportunity to coach at this wonderful University. You all will not be disappointed.
Now, about the game. There was absolutely no defense played in this one. There was over one thousand total between the two teams. Zac Lee lead a high powered passing attack, as the rushing gm faltered in the first half. Nebraska managed a meager 43 yds on 13 carries. Zac Lee was stiller, going 10 for 13 for 166 yds and 3 Td's in the first half. Nebraska took a 31-17 lead at the half.
The third quarter saw a minor defensive struggle with only one team managing to score; a 86 yd fumble return for Nebraska which put the score at 38-17 in favor of the Huskers. Nebraska, lead by Zac Lee who was 20 of 27 for 332 yds and 3 scores. Roy Helu lead the rushing attack with 143 yds on 27 carries.
Ok St was lead by Alex Cate, who had a stellar performance going 27 of 42 for 402 yds and two scores. Kendall Hunter lead the Cowboy's rushing attack with 122 yds on 26 carries and a score. The win improves Nebraska record to (5-4, 3-2). Ok St. slips to (5-2, 3-2)
Final Score Nebraska 51 Ok. St. 30

    Nebraska 38 Missouri 27

The Rivalry game between Nebraska and Missouri lived up to its billing. The action and tenacity of the the Big 12 is back. It all start in the first half where Missouri jump out on top of Nebraska 14 to 0 with 6:17 left in the second qtr. Nebraska had no answer for the swarming Defense lead by End J. Smith who was on Zac Lee like flies on s***. He ended the game with 6 tac, and 4 sacks. The very next drive saw Lee gaining some momentum. He found B. Kinnie for a 35 yd strike, which made the score 14-7. After a three and out and punt from Missou, Nebraska drove down the field and had to settle for a field goal as time expired to trial Missouri 14-10 at the half.
The second half saw both offenses wake up. Nebraska toke the opening drive kickoff straight down the field topped of with a 31yd pass from Lee to McNeil, who would leave the game and not return due to injury. The full extent of his injury is not known at this time.
The next two series for Nebraska yeilded three and outs, which produced two field goals for Missouri, which took a 20-17 lead to start the fourth qtr. On third down and long on their own 23 yd line, the Old ball coach noticed that the corners and safeties were playing very agressive, so he dailed up a hitch and go that set up to perfection. Lee pump faked the out route which the corner bit on and low and behold Wr B. Kinnie was wide open for a 77yd Td rec that put Nebraska up 24-20 with 6:50 remaining in regulation. The lead was short lived because Missouri marched right back down the field to retake the lead on 2 yd Evans run that put Missouri back on top 27-24 with 5:11 remaining.
This proved to be to much time for Nebraska, as they mythotically drove down the field chewing up most the clock. Lee found Paul on a 5 yd quick slant and again took the lead 31-27 with 1:47 remaining. Missouri's passing attack was up to the challenge. They drove down the field with ease. Missouri Qb Dalton was on fire hitting everything he saw, until he connected with a ball hawking SS D. Washington who intercepted a pass intended for a Missouri receiver. He returned the interception 96 yds, which would ice the game for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. "This win helps Nebraska keep pressure on Conference leader Colorado. The Buffaloes have a half a game lead in the Big 12 North Division with two games remaining on their schedule before the two square off at seasons end". Nebraska improves its record to 6-4(4-2). The Huskers next game is against Big 12 South opponent Texas A&M, who are on a six game winning streak.

Nebraska was able to slip by Texas A@M in a crucial conference game for both teams. The game keep the Huskers chance for a Big 12 Championship alive, and left Texas A@M outside looking in. The Aggies now need some help from Kansas State in order to force a possible rematch with Nebraska. The Huskers improve their win streak to three games and overall record to 7-4(5-2).

Nebraska solidify's their chance at a Big 12 Championship as they cruise past the 25th ranked Buffaloes.
Rb R. Helu lead the Huskers charge with 170 yds rushing on 32 carries with two Tds. Colorado never really threatened the Husker defense although the score indicates otherwise. Colorado was able to score some meaningless scores in the fourth qtr, but the game was already out of reach. Nebraska improves it record to 8-4(6-2) and will face a strong Texas Longhorn team that is coming off a 42-17 win over in state rival, Texas A@M.

Nebraska Wins the Big 12 Championship!!!

The Husker were able to upset the #1 team in the country in the Big 12 Title Game. "First, I would like to congradulate Coach Jfunk34 on a good, clean game. His team was a worthy opponent and ours hats go off to them."

Now, for the game summary. The first qtr of the game was a defensive struggle. Neither team could get anything going. I think each team managed only one first down a piece. This theme would set the tone for the game.

The second qtr started off just the same as the first with both defenses playing stout. Nebraska was able to convert a few frist downs late in the second qtr to take a 7-0 lead on Makovicka's 1 yd Td run with 2:19 seconds remaining before the half. Texas tried to get the passing game going, but due to good Qb pressure by the Nebraska DE's, Washington was able to jump a pass and return it 39 yds for a Td which put Nebraska up 14-0 with only 1:28 seconds left.

Nebraska's defense stepped up once again and forced Texas to a quick three and out. With little time remaining, Nebraska's offense got a little momentum and drove down the field using the sidelines and good clock management to score another Td before the half to go up 21-0 at intermission.

The second half saw the same defensive intensity. The Huskers were able to kick a field goal and return a fumble for another score as Nebraska went on to avenge their 45-14 lose earlier in the season with a 34-14 win over the top ranked team in the country. Nebraska improved their record to 9-4(7-2) on the season and wait to see where they will play in the bowl season.

"I am very proud of how this team perservered throughout this season. We could have easily folded the tent and packed it up. We came together and refused to let this be a wasted season. We practiced like champions and it work out for us in the end."

    Nebraska vs. Cincy

Cincy proved they were worthy of their 15th ranking as the gave Nebraska all they could handle. Nebraska was able to move the ball all game long, but wasn't able to produce Td's in the redzone. A. Henery went 5-5 on fieldd goals for Nebraska and was named player of the game for the Huskers.

Cincy's pass offense was superb. Z. Collaros seemed unstoppable at times in the game. "Everything he threw up; his wideouts caught. We didn't what to do to stop them", coment made by Coach Forever after receiving the gatorade bath for the fiesta bowl win. Collaros went 24 of 38 for 378 yds with only 1 Ttd. It was his two int's that were the difference in the game. Nebraska was able to capitalize on both with scores.

The win gave Nebraska a double digit winning season for first year Coach Forever. The Huskers end the season with a 10-4 record; including a six game winning streak to end the season.

"I am very proud of this team. They could have easily folded the tent and threw in the season after starting the season 4-4. They never quit and it paid off for them in the end. I want to thank our President, Athletic Director, Coaching Staff and the Fans that continued to believe in us when things looked down. Thank you to our Seniors who showed great character to lead this team to great things. May the future hold nothing but prosperity to your all."

    YEAR 2 (WEEK 2)

This game didn't live up to its billings. Nebraska showed they are a team to be reckoned with in 2011. They totally dominated The 5th ranked Bears in every phase of the game. Nebraska outgained California 560-190 yds of total offense.

The game was over in the first qtr as Green and the gang jumped out to a 21-0 first qtr lead. Green lead the charge; going almost perfect with a 11 for 12 performance 260 yds and 4 Td's; ALL IN THE FIRST HALF. Transfer Gray lead the rushing attack with 105 yds on 19 car. with two scores. Everyone had a chance to play in this one as Nebraska cruised to their first victory of the year.

"I knew we were going to be a good footbal team, but I never would have thought we would have played this well this early. We came out and played the type of football Nebraska is known for. We will savor this win for the rest of the weekend and come back next week and get ready for a very good Pittsburgh team."

The win improves Nebraska's season record to 1-0(0-0)

    #5 Nebraska vs Pitt

    WEEK 3

The Nebraska Cornhuskers remain undefeated following a drubbing of The Pitt Panthers. QB Cody Green has seemed unstoppable in his first two starts. He is an astounding 29 for 34 for 604 yds and 8 tds. Most of Green's critics thought it would be his legs that would carry this team; not his arm. "Cody has played very well the last couple of weeks. He has made the right reads and continues to get better everyday".

The game was very interesting in the first half as Pitt seemed very much prepared to move the ball on the Nebraska's stingy defense. Pitt Qb T. Sunseri came out on fire completing 6 of 9 passes for 167 yds 2 tds in the first qtr. After the second score, the Nebraska defensive coordinator called a timeout, without even consulting with the Head Coach. I don't know what he said, but the defensive unit got the message. After throwing for over 160 yds in the first qtr, Pitts Qb has held under 100 yds the rest of the game. When asked what the defensive coordinator said exactly, he replied by saying, "Nothing their mother wouldn't say to them when they've done something wrong."

Nebraska took over the game in the second qtr with 3 unanswered scores to go into the half 35-14.

The Coach wanted to make a statement to start the second half, and that he did. The very first play from scrimmage, Green went up top to TE R. Hill for a 69 yard Td pass with only 20 ticks coming off the clock. This would be the end of the day for all starters, as the number two's played the rest of the way.

This still didn't bode well for The Pitt Panthers, as the number two offense lead by Rb C. Okafor ran wild. He ran for more yds (188) on the same amount of car (18) with less time on the field. Starting Rb C. Gray added 108 yds on 17 car with 2 td's.

Due to the blow outs in the first two games of the season, the backup taliback leads the team in rushing with 250+ yds and 4 td's. Coach Forever is very impressed with the production of his two RB's. C. Okafor will get more action with the first team based on his recent success with the second team offense

With the win, Nebraska improves it's season record to 2-0(0-0) and will have a bye next week. They open up in conference play with Iowa State in two weeks.

    NEBRASKA VS IOWA STATE

    WEEK 5

Nebraska was too much for the lowly Cyclones in their recent contest. Nebraska running back Cyrus Gray lead the way with 15 car for 115 yds and 3 td's. Cody Green was also stiller completing 13-16 for 289 yds and 2 td's. The backups for Nebraska also contributed to the cause as RS Freshman RB J. Brooks added 103 yds on the ground, including 3 tds, all in the second half of play. Nebraska outgained Iowa State 621-371 yds. Most of Iowa's production came in the second half as Coach Forever experimented with different sets to prepare for a Big 12 Showdown with Missouri next week.

The win improves Nebraska season record to 3-0(1-0). Next week Nebraska takes on a very good Missouri team.

    WEEK 7

Ok St took the opening kickoff and drove the length of the field to to take a 6-0 lead early in the first qtr. Nebraska would respond on the very next possession, as the drove down th field and capped off the drive with a 3 yd option keep fron Cody Green to take a 7-6 lead after the first qtr.

The second qtr saw Nebraska's defense hold strong as they imployed the bend, don't break philosophy. Ok St did have sucess throwing the football, but failed to convert on key 3rd down conversions throughout the game. Nebraska took a 21-6 lead into the half and never looked back.

Nebraska scored 21 unanswered 3rd qtr points and went on to remain undefeated on the season. The win improves Nebraska to 5-0(3-0) on the season. #22 Texas A@M vs #3 Nebraska

Nebraska had it's toughest game of the season today as they faced a very well coached A@M team. The Huskers had no answers for the accuracy of R. Tannehill. He was consistently good on third down. The running game was also a problem, as C. Michael ran for 104 yds on 25 car. Nebraska found itself down 10-7 at the half. A@M took the second half opening kickoff right down the field and scored a fg with 2:59 remaining in the third qrt. Texas won the TOP battle as kept the ball for over 15 min as Nebraska only had it for 9. Cyrus Gray broke for a 34 yd td run with 1:54 left in the third qtr to give Nebraska a 1 point advantage.

The fourth qtr spelled disaster for Texas A@M. Their leading QB was knocked out late in the third qtr and they had to rely on their back-up QB. He threw 3 fourth qtr int's as The Huskers were able to pull away and get the victory.

The win improves Nebraska season record to 6-0(4-0). Next week, Nebraska travels to Texas to take on the Longhorns.

    #3 Nebraska at Texas

Although Texas is having a down year as far as wins and loses, they still are a team to be reckoned with. They sport probably the most talent of any team in the nation. Their 6 loses are no indicator of their talent level. After the leaving of Mac Brown to the NFL, the new coaches haven't found an identity yet. I hate to see them in a year of two.

Anyway, Nebraska jumped all over Texas on some early misques from back-up True freshman QB Terrance Darby. He was unstoppable besides the 1 int he had early in the game. He threw for nearly 350 tds and 3 td's as Nebraska had to hold off a late Texas charge to get the victory. The win improves Nebraska's record to 7-0(5-0) on the season. Next week, The Huskers travel to Kansas to take on the JayHawks.

    #1 Nebraska vs Kansas

Nebraska wins impressively in the first half as they scored 42 first half points against the Kansas JayHawks. Cody Green came out with a chip on his shoulder, due to his whimsical performance last week (3 ints). It only took him 13 attempts, but he made everyone of them count. He was 11 of 13 for 318 yds with 4 td passes; all in the first half. His day was over at the intermission.

Kansas made some big plays on offense to keep the Nebraska defense honest, but it was not enough as Nebraska goes on to win in a blow out!!!

The win improves Nebraska's season record to 8-0(6-0) on the season. Nebraska will now enter the home stretch of their regular season schedule, and its no easy task. Two of their final four games are against top 10 teams, #9 ranked Georgia and BCS #1 Maryland.

    Final Score:

    Nebraska- 49

    Kansas- 21

In other news, Nebraska gets no respect in the latest polls. I can understand being jumped by Maryland, but West Virginia!!! There's a conspiracy going on somewhere and we plan on getting to the bottom of it! We will not take this sitting down!!!

    Kansas State vs #1 Nebraska

Nebraska fine tunes before they travel out of conference to take on the Georgia Bulldogs between the hedges.

Kansas State was over matched and Nebraska played another strong game on both sides of the football. Cody Green was revered by many to be more of a running QB than passer. He has proved he is quite the opposite. Against Kansas State, he threw for 300 yds and 4 td's. He is currently the highest rated QB in FBS (240.3). Through 9 games, he had 26 td pases to only 3 int's. Kansas ST. did exploit the Nebraska defense a little gaining over 90 yds. This is a lot, considering Nebraska had given up a little over 300 yds in the 8 previous contests.

The win improves Nebraska to 9-0(7-0) on the season. Next week, Nebraska will travel to Athens, GA. to take on the #9th ranked Bulldogs(bcduggan).

    #1 Nebraska vs #7 Georgia

This one turned out to be a defensive struggle throughout the game. From the very first snap of the ball, each defense imposed their will on the opposing offense. The first qtr saw Nebraska jump out to a quick 14-0 lead behind some great play from their defense. Nebraska intercepts a pass on the very first play from scrimmage. Cyrus Gray would cap the short drive with a 1 yd td run to go up 7-0. After a three and out from Georgia, Nebraska would drive the length of the field and score on a 10yd td strike from Cody Green to Marcus Mendoza to put Nebraska up 14-0.

Neither team would score much in the second qtr. Georgia drove down to Nebraska’s 3 yd line and had it first and goal from the 3. The Nebraska defense would bow their backs and keep Georgia out of the endzone and force them to settle for the field goal.

Neither team scored a single point in the third qtr, giving Nebraska a 14-3 lead heading into the fourth qtr. Georgia drove the length othe field midway through the fourth to get a td pass and to cut the lead to 14-9. Georgia went for two, but was stopped a foot short to keep the score at 14-9 with 3:27 remaining. Nebraska, lead by Cody Green marched right down the field and scored a 5 yd td run by Cyrus Gray. Nebraska increased their lead to 21-9 with 1:49 left to play. #1 Nebraska vs Colorado

The Nebraska punched their ticket for the Big 12 Championship game Saturday afternoon. The game was close, in the first qtr, with Nebraska getting a score with 17 seconds remaining, they lead 7-0 at the end of the first.

Colorado would get a quick field goal early in the second qtr to cut The Huskers lead to 7-3. From there on, Nebraska went on a scoring frenzy, scoring 42 unanswered points. The defense told the story as they were able to force three turnovers which lead to 21 points. All starters were pulled early in the third qtr. Coach Forever put on chew the clock mode to prevent the score from getting to much out of hand.

Next week, The Huskers play host to what could be a winner take all game between against the Maryland Teripans. The terps sport what may be considered the best running game in the country, lead by SR RB Davin Meggett, who is currently third in the FBS and tied for first in rushing td's with 19. These types of games are what you coach for. Meaningful games late in the season that measure your teams character and persaverance. We are looking forward to the challenge!

    #8 Maryland vs #1 Nebraska

The Huskers lose for the first time this year. The loss not only will drop them from the #1 ranking, but may probably have cost them a shot at National Title. Oh well, all is well, end is well!!! There's still a chance to win the Big 12 (Long Shot), LOL!!!

#5 Nebraska vs #7 Florida State

In what proved to be Nebraska's best defensive performance of the year, The Cornhuskers held the Florida State Seminoles to 84 yds of total offense in the game(61 passing). I challenged our defense to get us the ball as many times as they could. I never would have expected them to play the way they did. Not knocking our ability, but Florida State has so many offensive weapons, you can't shut them down; only hope to contain them.

The defense also forced 4 turnovers in the game. 2 came from All-American Corner, Lazarri Middleton. He played very well in the game. He is a ball hawk; when the ball is in the air, he goes and gets it. The offensive star for the Huskers was RB, Cyrus Gray. He had a terrific season this year amassing over 1700 yds(1774) and scoring 25 td's on the ground. In the Fiesta Bowl, he carried the ball 32 times for 193 yds and a td. Cody Green was also effecient. He completed 13 of 19 passes for 193 yds and 2 td's with 1 int.

    #6 Nebraska vs #5 Georgia

Nebraska kicks off the season on the right note as they beat The Georgia Bulldogs between the hedges. The Huskers relied heavily on their defense and running game in the contest. Nebraska's RB Collins Okafor, lead the ground game with over 100 yds in the game; however, he failed to reach the endzone. The Nebraska defense also held a high powered Georgia team to only 200 yds of total offense.

The win gives The Huskers their first of the season.

    #4 Nebraska vs #17 LSU

The Cornhuskers get a convincing win versus a very talented LSU team in Death Valley Saturday Night. Nebraska relied on their running game and good defense to overcome a hostile Tiger crowd. Two first qtr fumbles by LSU set the tone for a good win for Nebraska. Due to technical difficulties, their were no stats and images to display,

The win improves Nebraska to 2-0(0-0) on the season. Nebraska will face the highest ranked team they've faced in #1 Alabama(Jfunk), lead by a stellar all around team.

    #1 Alabama vs #4 Nebraska

The Nebraska Cornhuskers just finished what was probably one of the toughest early season tests on Tradition Football. The Huskers started the season with 3 user games in a row. All of them were ranked in the top 25 and not to mention, two of them were in the top 5 in FBS. But that’s not the best part, we were able to come out victorious in them all. I want to say good game to all of the users in faced. You were all top tier, sim competitors. I enjoyed they competition!!!
Now for game summary. The Crimson Tide rolled into Lincoln sporting a #1 ranking, A Heisman Candidate in Mr. Star Jackson and the top three tacklers in FBS to date. Coach Forever knew the best way to neutralize a potent offense was to not let them on the field. So that was the game plan. Nebraska rushed 43 times in the game to just 7 pass attempts. The defense for Nebraska also played a bend-don’t break philosophy. “ We knew they(Alabama) were a very talented team. We just tried not to give up the big play and make our tackles.”
The first qtr saw Nebraska jump out to a 14-7 lead on the arm and legs of Cody Green. Green hooked up with TE Kyler Reed from 30 yds out and rushed 54 yds on an option play as the clock lapsed on the first qtr.
Nebraska would score 10 points in the second qrt on the legs of Collins Okafor, who ended the game with 32 car for 140 yds and 1 td. Nebraska would take a 24-14 lead at the intermission.
The second half saw both defenses tightened up. After several three and outs from both teams, The Cornhuskers finally hit pay dirt with a 6 yd td run from Cody Green to essentially ice the game.

The win improves Nebraska to 3-0(0-0) on the season. Next week, Nebraska hosts The WolfPack of Nevada.

    Final Score:

    Alabama: 21

    Nebraska: 31

    Nevada vs #1 Nebraska

The Cornhuskers iron out the wrinkles against Nevada before the start of conference play next week. Although the score may seem lop-sided, the Wolfpack of Nevada was a very good "Tuner Game" for Nebraska. They showed Coach Forever exactly where they needed practice to be able to make a run at the Big 12 Title. Nebraska would score the first ten points of the contest behind the arm of Heisman hopeful, QB Cody Green. He hit K. Cooper on a 56 yd td strike early in the first qrt. Nebraska would later add a field goal to take a 10-3 lead after one.

Nebraska would score two more td's in the second qtr and held Nevada out of the endzone, but Nevada did manage to kick two field goals in the qtr. Nebraska would lead 24-9 after two.

The Cornhusker would explode in the second half, scoing 28 unanswered points, all of which came by way of the running game. The starters day was over as Nebraska went into cruise control the rest of the contest. Collins Okafor lead the way for Nebraska with 19 car for 110 and 3 td's. Cody Green had only 218 yds passing on 8 of 15 passes; mostly all of which came in the first half.

The win improves Nebraska's season record to 4-0(0-0). Next week, Kansas comes to Lincoln to square of against the Huskers!!!
